Setting up Course Notifications in GoVIEW

Setting up course notifications in GoVIEW can be an extremely useful tool.  Notifications are customizable allowing the student to choose the delivery method, the types of notifications they would like to see as well as select any courses they would like to exclude.  To get started, follow the steps below.

Access Notification Settings

• Log into GoVIEW.
• Click the Profile Icon in the top right corner and select Notifications.

Verify/Update Contact Settings

• You may add an email address email notifications.

• Email notifications - You have the option to use the system email address (campus email) or you may enter a custom email address for GoVIEW notifications.

Summary of Activity

• This option allows you to opt to receive a daily or weekly summary of each of your courses by email.  You may opt out of the daily summary by selecting Never.

Instant Notifications

• In the Instant Notification Section, you are able to select the types of notifications you would like to receive.

• Some options include notification when announcements are posted, assignments are due, content is created, discussions are posted, grades are released, and quiz due date reminders.

• If you would like to receive notifications for discussions, you must set up notifications as indicated in this document and you must also subscribe to the appropriate discussion thread.

• To subscribe to a discussion, select the drop down arrow next to the appropriate thread and select subscribe.

Customize Notifications

• This section allows you to further customize the types of notifications you receive.

Exclude Some Courses

• While we do not typically encourage students to use this option, this area allows you to exclude courses from sending notifications.  

• To exclude a course, click Manage my course exclusions then click the X to the right of the appropriate course.  You may restart notifications for a previously excluded course by clicking the arrow next to the course.
