2020 New Year’s Eve at the Arts Center

 Crooked Tree Arts Center’s thirteenth annual New Year’s Eve at the Arts Center takes place on Tuesday, December 31 from 5-9 p.m., with a festive lineup of fun, accessible entertainment for all ages at both the Arts Center and the Petoskey District Library.

The Arts Center will be filled with refreshments and creative activities, for both participating and observing. Musical performances, arts and crafts, pottery, balloon tying, face painting, magic workshops, and a pizza buffet are just some of the highlights. Special activities and opportunities are also scheduled over at the Petoskey District Library, which are free and open to the public – no admission button is required.

“Come to the library to make a colorful mess with confetti. Get into a party mood by singing karaoke or challenge your friends to a Mario Kart race or Super Smash Bros duel,” said Megan Goedge, Children’s Librarian at the Petoskey District Library.

Musical entertainment for the community celebration is headlined by The Easy Picks. Other local performers include The Real Ingredients, The Third Degree, and DJ Franck Nowak. Performances will take place in the cupola at the library and all throughout CTAC and the Carnegie Building.

New this year, CTAC will host luminary workshops in December in preparation for “Let’s Glow!” on New Year’s Eve. There will be light-up crafts planned for during New Year’s Eve at the Arts Center as well.

“New Year’s Eve at the Arts Center is such a fun tradition,” said Andrea Coronado, CTAC Events Coordinator. “It’s a great way for families and people of all ages to festively ring in the New Year while being surrounded by friends and community members!”

The evening’s festivities conclude with the “Midnight at 9,” Times Square-style ball drop on East Mitchell Street. The outdoor festivities begin at 8:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Roy Harvey will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and lead the crowd in the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”

Performances, activities, and workshops are put on by CTAC instructors, area artists the Petoskey District Library. Admission buttons, adorned with the winning artwork by Sam Nemec, are $10 for adults and $5 for students and are on sale at Crooked Tree and online at crookedtree.org. CTAC will be closed from 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 21 through Thursday, January 2.

This event is presented in part by The Kroeger-Mainland Family Fund at PHSACF and the Petoskey Area Visitors Bureau and in partnership with the Petoskey District Library.
