RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

  1. Citra Kusuma’s research focuses on nutrition and health system strengthening. She is particularly interested in improving nutrition through health system strengthening to solve malnutrition problems in Indonesia. She is also the co-PI of a capacity building need assessment of puskesmas staff and posyandu cadres in delivering quality nutrition and other health services related to nutrition in West Java and East Nusa Tenggara that examines best practices to guide the developments and improvements as well as challenges in the existing systems that relevant organizations need to follow-up.
  2. Her past research projects include strengthening the health system to maintain malaria-free local transmission status at DKI Jakarta and Bali Provinces, Indonesia, preliminary study in the development of maintenance phase model for malaria elimination in Bali Province, Action Program to Eliminate food-related problems, including stunting in Indonesia and developing posyandu as community-based health service to be the frontline in nutrition-related programs in Indonesia.
  3. She believes that working on a community-based system will significantly determine the health and nutrition status in the community, especially among vulnerable families. In the future, she would like to explore further developing any potential nationwide projects to address nutrition problems, such as stunting in Indonesia.

Service Activities

Citra Kusuma was involved in various projects such as a multisectoral assistance model to improve posyandu based health services in Bantul and Kulon Progo District in Yogyakarta. The project focuses on the system strengthening approach to address malnutrition problems in local settings in collaboration with various institutions such as the health ministry and other NGOs to ensure the program's sustainability. Last year, she assisted Nunukan and Bulungan District Health Offices. This year, Sanggau District Health Office improved its health program management and planning.
