Dear Avoca West Family,
Welcome to an exciting year at Avoca West Elementary School! In order to create an enriching learning environment that engages your child, our school uses a unique master schedule that gives students an opportunity to explore subjects beyond the core academic areas. In addition to daily Physical Education, students take part in General Music, Spanish, Technology, Science Lab, Literacy Enrichment, Drama, and have the opportunity to fine tune their musical ears and fingers in our renowned strings program.
Staff members at Avoca West are devoted to meeting the needs of your child. Teacher teams collaborate daily using the Professional Learning Communities Model to analyze and improve their classroom practice and discuss strategies to meet the needs of each child. The Avoca West staff members remain grounded in the belief that educators must work together to provide a highly conducive place for learning. Furthermore, we see parents as a crucial factor in their child’s academic success and encourage your partnership through all avenues of communication.
This handbook provides Avoca West families and students with important information about our school. Please review the contents with your child before school begins, then keep it accessible for future reference.
