Vice IT Shop is a self-service application installed on a Vice machine when properly enrolled. It houses all the applications we support at Vice and some scripts and commands that are useful to IT.

There are a couple of things that can go wrong with the IT Shop:

If IT Shop isn’t on your device most likely the device wasn't enrolled correctly, it's not a Vice machine, or you’re using a Windows machine (Vice PCs don't get the IT Shop).

To enroll the device:

NOTE: Sometimes it can take a full minute or two to finish authenticating. Please be patient.

NOTE: VICE IT Shop is auto-installed after enrolment, but there may be a delay of up to 10 minutes. You may use your computer in the meantime.

In VICE IT Shop, search in the upper-left for “VICE Setup” and click Run.

Follow the prompts until you get a “Launching..." message. When VICE Setup completes (10-30 minutes), the computer will reboot and return to the login screen.

Login normally and you’re good to go.

If apps aren't being installed from the IT Shop or not showing up in the IT Shop the first thing you should do is reboot the machine – IT Golden Rule!

If the reboot doesn’t address the issue, check to make sure that the computer is connected to the internet. Once you confirm that the computer is connected to the internet open the IT Shop and run the “Update Inventory” command.

There are times when the IT Shop will show that an app has failed to install when in fact the app was installed – always check the app folder before submitting a ticket.

If the IT Shop refuses to connect after the reboot and making sure that you’re connected to the internet please submit a ticket to IT and we’ll help address the issue.
