Welcome back everyone! We hope you had a wonderful and restful fall break.
We really enjoyed sharing your scholar's growth with you during conferences. They have made tremendous strides and we are so proud of all of our scholars.
Second quarter has started and now we are ready to move into second quarter expectations. Working together, scholars have gained an understanding of why they have been learning to use their planners since second grade and how it will help them in the future. Scholars has also gained the skills of opening their lockers with ease, getting to class on time and keeping up with homework and classroom assignments.
Our field study to The Challenger Learning Center in Colorado Springs is coming up on November 7th. We are leaving the school at 6:30 am and are returning around 4:30 pm. Please be prepared to get a call from your child in case we get home early. This is a long, but very worthwhile field
study. Lunch is provided. Thank-you in advance to all of . our parent drivers.
Scholars are looking forward to their first school dance on November 9th from 6:00 p.m - 8:00 p.m.. We will review what to expect in class to help scholars plan and can’t wait to see how adorable they all are! Parents are always welcome and encouraged to chaperone.
Conferences are just around the corner! We are so excited to share with you the growth we’ve seen in your scholar since the beginning of school year. We have been doing a lot of work evaluating students, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and we have been problem solving ways to help them be successful. Conferences will be 15 minutes with both Mrs. Lynch and Mrs. Hares present. This is a time where we will look at your scholars strengths and set goals for the remainder of the year and we look forward to collaborating with you and your child.
6th grade is working on team building and leadership skills throughout the year. Every Friday we spend 40 minutes in homeroom learning about leadership, being a positive team member, and developing relationships. We have an exciting new opportunity to help foster these team relationships during lunch. Scholars are sitting with present and future friends and competing in fun games such as Beat the Teacher and trivia.
Dana Point! We are able to extend the deadline until October 8th and there are a few spaces left for our trip to Dana Point, California in May. If you need another registration form, please let us know and we’ll send one with your student.
Whew……. We are now a few weeks into the school year and scholars have learned so much!
We have to give a big shout out to those 5th grade teachers as they have encouraged our scholars and prepared them to face the new exciting challenges of the 6th grade.
We are still looking for drivers for our Challenger Learning field study in Colorado Springs on November 7th. In order to be a driver, you must be background checked through the district which requires you to pay $30 and get fingerprinted at the district office. All of the money and time spent on this endeavor will count towards volunteer hours. Please email Mrs. Hares at Christina.Hale-Hares@jeffco.k12.co.us if you are able to drive.
Scholars are bringing home the first long term project soon. Please keep an eye out for a sign up genius and information about this fun project.
Entrepreneurship Club will begin Wednesday, September 5th from 3:20 - 4:00. This club focuses on learning about the world of business and scholars who are going to Dana Point will have the opportunity to run their own student business. If your child is interested, please have them go to room 119 after school. Also, there will be a parent Entrepreneurship Club Meeting on September 26th from 3:20 - 4:00.
Thank you to all those parents who attended Middle school success night. It was our great pleasure to see you again and to brag about your child. If you couldn’t join us for the evening, look for information in Friday Folders.
