Derby Code of Conduct

#1- Don’t Die.

That’s it. Oh! And avoid maiming - especially others. (The following will help with the death and the maiming.)

Assess risk.

Out of your mind drunk &/or orbiting in the psychonaut way? You still need to be sober enough to know what’s happening. Crowds don’t know what’s going on and performers are busy watching them so we can do stupid stuff. Sometimes either is on the track. Refer to item one.

Don’t be a dick.

This is wild, self-organizing chaos. Enjoy the energy and help keep the race moving at tow cycle. Volunteers and staff are here to keep the gears greased. Do what you want AND look out for one another. Bring it up with the Buckstop if something’s getting hot. If you’re not at your car when it’s time to tow or go (this is an example of being a dick), you get set aside and wait til the next heat.

Take care of KIDS.

New blood comes running each year. Anyone can do this derby. Flex your party and if young folks are in your car the intoxication needs to be way down or not at all. While the derby has inherent risk, you become responsible here. Inability to keep kids alright will get you yanked from the race before there is an incident we can’t undo. This is a hard, solid, impervious line.

Don’t be too stupid. It’s a balance.

Have so much fun and keep it fun. The Buckstop and Sh’Bang! community are here to keep the derby returning each year. If you’re getting a verbal heads up from somebody, pay attention so it doesn’t divert the race.

You’re the boss of you.

The Buckstop is not your mom. Do not make them boss you. They’re here to make this derby drive. Take care of your shit and LET’S GO!! Ask for stuff you need if it doesn’t automatically show up.

Buckstop trumps everyone.

Period.

Let’s make a helluva show with helluvalotta fun!

(Timing is everything.)
