Troubleshooting IMS Loaner Laptops:

My software License Expired

Our laptop software will auto-expire after 90 days if not connected to an SJSU network. To regain access, please complete the steps below.

  • First: Try logging into an official SJSU VPN or visiting campus and accessing our Eduroam or Premier on-campus networks.

 Windows PC Login & Software Install

Only laptops labeled “IMS-” followed by their 7-digit (e.g.: IMS-1A2B345 )

Login credential

User has to log in with their SJSU credential, which is their @sjsu.edu email credential:

Username:        john.smith@sjsu.edu (e.g.)

Password:        244466666A**Z (e.g.)

Access privileges

The @sjsu.edu credentials should have enough privileges for the user to download and install most if not all, academic-approved software.

Users may need to provide their other account credentials while installing software provided by individual vendors so please sign up one when required, e.g.:

Adobe products

Your Adobe ID

Microsoft products:

Your Microsoft Account

Oracle products:

Your Oracle Account


Software installation is Asking for Admin password?

  1. The Guest account won’t allow software installs.
  2. Please log into the laptop using your ONESJSU credentials:  firstname.lastname@sjsu.edu
  3. Reboot the laptop then log in again with your ONESJSU credentials
  4. If the laptop is still prompting the Admin login, connect to https://vpn.sjsu.edu/ first then reattempt to download/install
  5. If the issue persists, email classroom-support@sjsu.edu

For PC Laptops NOT labeled “IMS-” followed by their 7-digit (e.g.:         IMS-1A2B345 )

Login credential

User has no login credentials. Press Enter to use the laptop (no password). All data will be saved for recurring use. (If using “GUEST” login, no data will be saved/all data will be lost at logout.)

 Macbook Login & Software Install

Only laptops labeled “IMS-” followed by their 7-digit (e.g.: IMS-1A2B345 )

Log in credential

User has to log in with their user-generated credential (this will be the password you created at checkout):

Username: Spartan |  Password:  Password you chose at checkout

Access privileges

The Spartan credentials should have enough privileges for the user to download and install most if not all, academic-approved software.

Mac Popup Asking for a System update (Do not update)

  1. Click on the system update popup
  2. When it asks “install later tonight” or “install now”, click later tonight
  3. Then Decline, the terms and conditions
  4. (X) out of the window & it window will go away
