ADAPTED MUSIC Syllabus

  1. Course Description:   

Music class will be set up for 50 minutes a day and last for one trimester. The lessons will be broken into 4 parts based on National Music Standards:

  1. Singing
  2. Rhythm Reading
  3. Pitch Reading
  4. Creating Music

The goal for adapted music class is to foster a love for music in each student and to develop music literacy through reading, writing, performing in class, and creating.  This is a non-performance class.

2.        Academic Expectations:

  1. Show SKILLS through singing, body percussion, and writing.
  2. PARTICIPATE in lessons, work, and tasks given during class.
  3. Show KNOWLEDGE on paper and verbally.

     

3. Grading:

Pass/Fail Grading

*Adjustments may be made in grading for students on I.E.P.s or 504s

4. Classroom/Behavior Expectations:

  1. Be on time
  2. Participate Positively
  3. Follow Behavior Expectations (see student handbook).

5.        Extra Help:  Paras will be in the room to help students achieve the expectations and student mentors are involved in class to foster peer to peer interactions.
