BlizzCon

BlizzCon is coming. Schedule released.

Heroes of the Storm – What's Next: Friday, Nov. 3rd at 5:00PM

Take a look into the eye of the storm as we unveil some of the exciting new updates and gameplay changes brewing in the Nexus.

Heroes of the Storm – Hero Deep Dive: Saturday, Nov. 4th at 1:00PM

Join the Heroes of the Storm team as they take an even closer look at the new content coming to the Nexus. Get behind-the-scenes insight, and stick around for a Q&A with the audience.

Oh, and it looks like group features are coming to the Battle.net client. Strings were datamined from the latest update and there’s a Blizzard Social announcement panel early on in the first day.

It’s looking like a relatively quiet BlizzCon judging by the schedule schedule. Heroes and Hearthstone only have two panels each. WoW looks like we’re getting an expansion announcement because there are so many panels dedicated to the game. There are also a lot of Overwatch panels but most of them look like fluff.

New Social Features Coming

Social Tab

Our new Social tab is your one-stop-shop for managing all your various social interactions. Whether you’re chatting with a friend or engaged in our new Blizzard Groups, you’ll easily be able to pick up where you left off in all of your conversations.

Blizzard Groups

Blizzard Groups are a new way for you to connect with your friends and plan your next mission. Players can create and join Groups based on their common interests. There, they can keep in touch, share strategies, and catch up on conversations they might have missed while offline.

Each Group can have multiple text and voice chat channels, and Group administrators have a variety of tools to help manage membership, send out invitation links, and more.

The Groups beta is available now in the Americas region. Head to the new Social tab to get the party started!

Profiles

Let the Blizzard world know a little bit more about you by customizing your profile!

Your profile will allow you to select an avatar, share what’s on your mind with an About message, add links to where people can find you on social media, and more! You can also view profiles of other players if you’re curious about a pending friend request or what games a friend plays.

Players using the beta in the Americas region can customize their profile through the View Profile button in the app header and Friends List drop-downs.

Appear Offline

Appear offline allows you to set your status to show you as “offline” to your Blizzard friends while remaining connected to Battle.net. This means you can launch the app and game away without distraction.

Appearing offline will show you as offline to everyone in your Blizzard friends list. Once you have joined a game, the experience of appearing offline might be slightly different depending on which game you are playing. In the case of World of Warcraft, your guildmates will see your character come online and enter WoW’s in-game chat channels, and anyone who has you as a character-level friend will see you online on their friends list. Everyone outside of the same game as you will not see you online or playing any games.

Do you see a friend who’s offline but you really want to send them a message while it’s on your mind? You can now send offline friends messages and they will receive them the next time they come online! While appearing offline you can still send and receive messages in the app, but it is up to you when you want to respond.

We know a lot of you have been looking forward to big updates like this, and we’re excited to roll them out and get your feedback. Thanks for helping us out!

MattVi on Warrior Design

Blizzard - If a warrior doesn’t have one or more of these, he is a bruiser made to attack the backline.

We've found that Warriors who don't have enough of one or more of these qualities end up being used as bruisers to harass the enemy backline. Most of the time it's "peel" that's lacking, as this is the aspect that wasn't as clearly defined in the past. Even now I'd say it's hard to say precisely where that line is, and that it's subjective based on what other heroes are capable of.

If you look at someone like Sonya with 2 stuns, you'd think she could be a tank - and indeed to some extent she can, but other aspects of her kit push her to be more aggressive and limit how effective she can be at protecting a squishy backline (compared to someone like Muradin or Arthas).

Disney XD Showing Heroes and Overwatch

This apparently has been going on for a while. I found out from my buddy Darryl who works at Disney. We had this conversation while at Disney enjoying the Food and Wine Festival. It was one Disney-ass conversation.

Being a relatively new player I have done what you guys have suggested in that I have chosen 3 heroes to play and get good at. I have chosen Lunara, Li-Ming and Tassadar with Lunara being my main.

I have been placed in Bronze which is fine but HoTS Logs is making me question my hero choices. According to HoTS logs Lunara has a 48.2% win rate but when I just look at Bronze she drops down to 39.7%.  Li-Ming has a slight drop off in Bronze compared to other leagues and Tassadar also has a huge drop off compared to other leagues similar to Lunara.

Do I try to climb out of Bronze with heroes with not great win rates and if by chance make it to Silver know that those heroes are better in that league?

After listening to your last two episodes I have heard a lot of talk about roles.  One champ that I have some questions about, that I don’t see her getting picked is Zarya. In what team comps would you consider picking her in?  Right now when I see the other team is melee heavy I like picking her for Graviton Surge and Shield Ally.  With supports losing cleanse, at level 16 she can take cleansing shield or would one of her other level 16 talents be a better pick mostly looking at Gain Train or Born in Battle?  Could she be a solo tank or is she more of a flex multi-purpose role off tank?  Her shield can help healers with healing (support), with her Q build she can deal damage (off tank) what role would you say she fills the best.  Also in what situations would you take Expulsion Zone over Graviton Surge?  Do you consider her a high skill cap champ or is she just garbage thus why I don’t see her played a lot?  I range from G5 to D3 in rank and would like to start playing her more or would it be better to stick with a different Warrior class champ?  Would like to see your input on this champ?

Thanks ~ Sizzle55
