Pokemon Victory Fire version 2.72 detailed walkthrough
Updated automatically every 5 minutes

Pokemon Victory Fire version 2.72 fixed detailed walkthrough by Olivia R. (note this is a ROM hack, I do not own this and will not distribute this hack, but I am the author of this walkthrough so if you use it credit me). As a reminder, you need a clean Pokemon Emerald ROM (please Google it), a patching utility like Nintenlord UPS Patcher and a GBA Emulator (I used VBA) to play Pokemon Victory Fire (you can also google a pre-patched rom too).

Hello, you may be wondering why I'm writing a brand new walkthrough for this hack. After all, it was the very first ROM hack I ever wrote a walkthrough on. Well, the 2.72 version was released, and with it a number of new changes. Notable things in this hack:

-Your starter is based on your chosen gender, but it will always be a pseudo-legendary Dragon, either Axew (M) or Gible (F). Gible and Axew evolve into their second evolution at Lv35, and then their third at Lv60. Axew and its evolution line are Dragon/Fighting.

-Fairy type is present

-Up to Gen-7 mons can be found

-Newer moves, Pokemon, and cries from the newer generations

-New storyline that segues into the next ROM hack, Pokemon Resolute

I figured it would be best to start this one over from scratch with the walkthrough writing as a result, therefore it is in the best interest now to cover any and all new things that this ROM hack has provided, and be a little less wordy for everyone's convenience.

And yes, I am aware of a website called PokUniverse, which I found on Reddit. Here, another guy has been doing walkthroughs for several hacks, Victory Fire was included. However, that guide does not go past the post-game, whereas my original walkthrough does. So let's get started here. My old guide will be linked here.

PROLOGUE [PROL]

Pick your character (the default canon names for this storyline are Iron for the boy and Pure for the girl and I will refer to them as such). You start in a cave with lava. Go north into the cave, then west to another exit. Here, head all the way south to find Victini. This turns out to be a dream.

FRESHWIND VILLA [FRVL] - We live in a valley

Set the clock in your room and go downstairs. Mom functions as a free heal as usual. Head outside and to the side will be your opposite gender counterpart rival Iron/Pure. You will receive your starter from your rival the Dragon/Fighting Axew if you are Iron or the Dragon/Ground Gible if you are Pure. Iron/Pure runs to Amberyellow Town where the first gym is.

There's a PokeCenter in this town, and you can heal, but the PC is broken. At the east side of town is a vending machine near the lab. You need the Drinking Ticket to use this. At the SE end is a shrine with a cursed creature who demands money, P4000 to be exact. You don't have this yet, but remember it for later. Nothing in the lab, so go north to find a gray-haired trainer who immediately challenges you.

PKMN Trainer ???: Sandshrew Lv2, Sneasel Lv2, Salandit Lv3, P540

Turns out the Pokemon he used were stolen, and he says those were "borrowed" from the trainer who was near the lab. He actually gives you them and gives his name, Uranium. In case you were wondering, the NW house is his, and you can get some backstory from his family here. Go back to the lab and talk to the trainer outside. He will get his Pokemon back, except for Salandit, which he asks you to keep (you may notice this if you go to the Pokemon menu after battling Uranium, meaning it already is in your party). Go north to Canyon Path.

When you enter, you will see a man in white in distress as two evildoers named Karls and Bell are stealing from him. The man is Professor Ivan, and lets you battle the duo, who are a part of the evil Team Mirage.

Team Mirage Karls&Bell: Machop Lv3, Chikorita Lv3, P24 (double battle)

The duo runs and Ivan takes you to the lab automatically. He will give you a Pokedex and you will talk to Uranium once again, who has a Marowak with him this time. After the scene, you can now use the PC in the PokeCenter. Head back north to Canyon Path.

Camper Ben: Magby Lv6, P240

Bug Catcher Keeling: Caterpie Lv7, Weedle Lv6, P192

Gentleman Hope: Vulpix Lv7, P224

The only item here is at the halfway point, a Great Ball. You have not received Poke Balls yet by the way; they are sold in the next town. Note that if you battled every trainer thus far, you should have over P4000. This means you can go back to the shrine south of Ivan's Lab and pay to get the Grind Power. This functions somewhat similarly to the modern Exp. Share in the new Pokemon games, and you can deactivate it any time in the Key Items folder. When you head north, a blonde trainer and police officer named Max stops you.

PKMN Trainer Max: Pikachu Lv7, Elekid Lv8, Voltorb Lv7, P1260 and a PokeNav

Pick up the Potion and enter Cutter Alen's house. He's home, and he's telling his daughter Lily not to go out. The one in blue tells Cutter Alen to have her make her own decision. The one in blue is actually the gym leader Silk, and asks for your help. So this actually means battling Cutter Alen to prove yourself.

Expert Alen: P1000 and HM01 Cut

Charmander Lv8, Ember, Cut, Growl

Nincada Lv9, Dig, Cut, Scratch

Zangoose Lv10, Cut, Karate Chop, Bite

Beating Alen will let him let his daughter go. So she does, but doesn't leave the house. Instead, she wants to battle with her Pokemon now (note: your team is oddly healed after the battle with Cutter Alen).

PKMN Trainer Lily: Doduo Lv9, Natu Lv9, Lapras Lv10, P1800

After this, Lily and Silk leave, the latter actually going to the library instead of the gym. You need to head back there (if you go west, Team Mirage grunts block the way). Once back at the library, go to the second floor and head south (which was previously blocked). Talk to Silk and finally you can challenge the gym. Once you go to the gym entrance, Iron/Pure leaves, and tells you they got the first badge. You then battle Iron/Pure.

PKMN Trainer Iron/Pure: Axew/Gible Lv11, P1980

Now you can enter the gym. The Normal type is dominant here.

School Kid Josh: Rattata Lv10, P120

School Kid Sammy: Meowth Lv8, Clefairy Lv8, P96

School Kid Marc: Poochyena Lv9, Aipom Lv10 P120

The last trainer tells you that to make Silk appear, you must touch the Poke Ball. Do so, and you will now see Silk in the middle.

A girl in the NE house wants to trade her Plusle for a Volbeat. When done exploring, go towards the couple. One is the Trick Master and the other is Violet, an Elite Four member. Just then, a sinister man named Wind abducts the pair. He is a former Elite Four member and actually is also a leader of Team Mirage. Prepare to battle.

Mirage Leader Wind: Roserade Lv27, Spiritomb Lv29, P8120

He mercifully heals your mons after the battle but says you're not strong enough before leaving. You can actually challenge the Trick House, there's a younger Trick Master here and new challenges to find. For this first one, you need Cut.

Picnicker Sally: Growlithe Lv25, P400

Hiker Eddie: Diglett Lv25, Graveler Lv25, P500

Lady Robin: Buneary Lv25, Meowth Lv26, P5200

Pick up the Orange Mail while here. A Rare Candy is the prize. Now you can head on Pine Path.

After all this, head to the SE corner of town to pick up TM01 Focus Punch. The Idea Co. here has Mr. Idea who can bring fossils to life, remember him for later. Also there's a woman here who is making a machine to allow for legendary rematches, but you need all the badges for it to work, so keep this place in mind. Can't head south to Rumor's Forest, and I'm putting off the north end for now (there's trainers there, but also a cave entrance with a boulder that requires Strength. Time to enter the gym, and here, you'll see Ash Ketchum again, talking with Damien, not the gym leader here but a friend of the leader's. You'll have another battle with Ash and his Pikachu.

Sailor Dreak: Wimpod Lv35, Gyarados Lv36, P1152

Head outside and you'll see your group with Samuel. He agrees to head back to his gym. Talk to Damien and you can now enter. Be mindful of Water types here.

You are supposed to use boats to cross. Take the left one first.

Cooltrainer Gerald: Omastar Lv37, P2960

Go back to the boat and it will take you over the waterfall to the next area. If you touch the spot where you were dropped off, you'll be back at the beginning. Take the right boat this time.

Sailor Jace: Croconaw Lv38, P1216

Touch the button here to change the previous ship's course (for some reason, the button on the west side doesn't work right, it automatically takes you up, but this button on the east side you have to press). Take the boat up to the NE side.

GLITCH: If you talk directly to the next trainer when she's facing away, she won't face you when talking to you (you'll still battle).

Expert Eli: Psyduck Lv37, Tentacruel Lv37, Lapras Lv38, P3800

Press the switch here to clear the way to the middle path. You can challenge the next trainer and leader if you like, but for more trainers, go back to the left side and take the boat up the waterfall.

There's only a pair of trainers on this route, and it's Karls and Bell.

Team Mirage Karls&Bell: Dodrio Lv42, Electabuzz Lv42, Bayleef Lv43, Machoke Lv43, P344 (double battle).

And as soon as you step foot into Volcano Town, you'll be instantly attacked by a sinister member of Team Mirage.

Mirage Leader ???: Darkrai Lv48, P13440

You'll then be transported to a strange cave with white grass. Just head up the path to meet Darkrai once again. Your character says it's a monster, and then Victini shows up. A flash occurs, and you'll be in the lava cave from the prologue once again. Just like in the prologue, enter the north cave, then west to the next exit, then all the way south to Victini. Victini says it has chosen you, and you warp again.

VOLCANO TOWN [VOLC] - A small town on the volcano

And you then wake up inside a building, with Lily by your side. After the scene, you'll go to the bottom floor of the PokeCenter. I recommend healing here, because once you step out, Iron/Pure challenges you right away.

PKMN Trainer Iron/Pure: P8100

Magneton Lv43, Cofagrigus Lv43, Forretress Lv44, Fraxure Lv45 (Iron)

Rapidash Lv43, Dodrio Lv43, Xatu Lv44, Gabite Lv45 (Pure)

Head over to the Generator Room, which is the cave to the west. Talk to the gentleman and battle him to see what it is about. Pick up the PP Max here too.

Master Engineer BC: Flareon Lv43, Mega Blaziken Lv45, P1800

You'll then receive the Mega Rock and the Anti-Mega, two devices that can permanently mega-evolve certain Pokemon. For a list of mons that can mega-evolve, check the Appendix. Another thing is that these are Key Items, yet are treated like evolutionary stones and you can only use them on one Pokemon. Once you feel like you can use it for a different mon, use the Anti-Mega, then return to Engineer BC who will give you another Mega Rock and Anti-Mega. One other thing to keep in mind, if you have a mega evolution in your party, you cannot use the Pokemon Storage System on any PC until you un-mega your mega evolution.

With all this said and done, let's head on in to take on a gym challenge, this time against Damien, who we met before. The dominant type is the Fire type. Take either the left or middle entrances.

Afterwards, your next order of business to progress with the plot is to talk to the ranger at the north end of Volcano Town. But now that you can use Surf, we're in backtracking mode for now.

SURF BACKTRACKING [SURF]

First up is Navel Path. Go to where there's water, then surf down the waterfall. Head east to the NE island and find a hidden Rare Candy on the NE side. Surf down another waterfall and south to find berries and TM37 Sandstorm. Now head to the west side, head south, then to the pond to the west. Surf across and get the HP Up, then surf east of there, between the trees, for a hidden Stardust.

Head to the dark part of Mt. Skywall and go south to surf. Surf west and keep going west (this is the first dark section of Mt. Skywall, on the way to High Path). Surf when you see water to the west and cross to the other side. You can surf across the next pond, but if you follow that path, you'll find two Mirage grunts blocking the way. Instead, head south from the last pond to find a Poke Ball, then head west into a cave to get an Old Amber. Remember to bring it to Mr. Idea in Marble City to get your Aerodactyl (exit and re-enter for it to be ready).

Speaking of Marble City, you can go to the north end and surf to the NW side. You'll find what's called Marble Mineral, which is actually just another part of Mt. Skywall.

You can't climb the waterfall, and it is dark. But there is a cave you can enter. Inside is a Claw Fossil. If you head west of the Marble Mineral entrance to Marble Grassland, you'll find an island that has an alternate entrance to Holy Karst Cave. You'll need Waterfall for this though. In the first floor of Holy Karst Cave, surf towards the large waterfall, then go east and into a cave that has the Helix Fossil!

On Waterwave Path, surf SE of the house and pick up the X Accuracy. Now head to the south beach and go south for some water routes (you can enter the S.S. Bluesea, but there's nothing important to get right now). The next one is Volcano Path.

Swimmer Linda: Feebas Lv33, Lumineon Lv33, P1056

Go all the way south to find a beach with a Rare Candy. Head back, then east onto another beach, then further east.

Swimmer Gilbert: Gyarados Lv32, P1024

To the south is the rest of Volcano Path. Head east of Pure Village now to reach Hidden Path (by the way, you can use Strength in Dead Volcano, but there's nothing important there for now. You also cannot move the boulders in Pure Tower).

We have a lot of stuff to cover before going to that stage in the middle. In the NE house, you can get a Togepi egg. In the house next to it, you can get a free Totodile. In Lunar Hotel, you can get TM41 Torment from a boy at the NE end. A Protein is east of the storage room behind the trees (you can't enter the storage area of course). A hidden Heart Scale is in the dead end east of the storage room entrance. Finally, you can get a free Riolu by talking to a boy near the closed gym. For the record, this gym is closed, and you can't enter it.

With all side stuff covered now, let's go to the stage, so line up next to Uranium and Iron/Pure. After a talk, your character rushes to battle Wind.

Mirage Leader Wind: Sigilyph Lv51, Absol Lv52, Spiritomb Lv53, Roserade Lv52, Zoroark Lv52, P14560

So Team Mirage will retreat from the stage, but not really the city. They can't be far. And by that, we are going to head to the lighthouse. Meet up with Uranium and this meeting gets interrupted by the green-haired mysterious man, who you probably know is N. He comes in with either Reshiram or Zekrom (whichever one was not on stage earlier) and wants to talk to you, the chosen trainer of Victini. You will now have to test your potential with N.

Uranium loses and you recognize him as the one who ambushed you in Volcano Town. He attempts to end you here, until Victini saves you in the nick of time. This causes Night to flee, and Victini will run off again. You'll now know that the next gym is in Mugwort Villa. Try to leave and Max stops you, late to the action. He gives you HM02 Fly, which you will need the badge for. Note you can also now go through High Edge Falls via the bridge there as a shortcut. You still need Waterfall to get to those areas up above, so this stuff won’t be covered in full just yet.

Now you can use Fly. This makes backtracking a lot easier. We can take out another Trick House challenge in Pinearoma Villa now. Find the guy in the left plant.

This is a pond-crossing puzzle. Go two spaces behind the mechadoll to the east, two north, four west, one north, two west, and north to make it to the other side.

On this ground are two mechadolls. Go to the east one, then head north three, one west, one north, one west, one north, two west, one north, three west, one north, one west, then north to make it to the other side.

This side has the scroll and two mechadolls. Go to the east one, and to its left. Head north three, one east, one north, one east to be at the door. Your reward is TM12 Taunt. Do anything you need to before heading west of Mugwort Villa to Cloud Meadow.

CLOUD MEADOW [CLME]

You can't head to Mt. Snowy to the south, since there was an avalanche.

Collector Noah: Ivysaur Lv54, Togekiss Lv55, P3300

If you wanted to go here earlier, you couldn't because a trainer and his Murkrow blocked the way and wanted a trainer who had Aisha's badge. The badge will help the Murkrow get back in its Poke Ball and you get TM30 Shadow Ball for helping. The man's name is Lumiere, and he leaves.

Get the Net Ball to the east. In the house west of the PokeCenter is a boy who will give you a Shuckle, the only one you can get in the game. East of the gym, you can get a King's Rock from a gentleman. A gentleman in the NW house will give you a free Bulbasaur. The Move Researching Club is of special interest. You can buy every TM in the game here, teach a mon Substitute via one gentleman, and the doctors in the back, Dr. D and Dr. T. will be the Move Deleter and Move Tutor, respectively. You will need Heart Scales for the latter, and wild Bruxish can have them. You can surf around the beach here for some, but other places require the Super Rod. Well, you can get it as well, you just need to find a fisherman behind the gym, who has it. Now you have all the fishing rods.

Two special battles can be done. The first is at the beach, it's Luke and Eva, and this occurs as you attempt to enter the beach for the first time.

PKMN Trainer Luke&Eva: Togekiss Lv58, Jolteon Lv58, Celebi Lv58, Celebi Lv58, P20880 (double battle)

You now have access to the next route, but we'll hold off until we finish the gym. Silk challenges you as soon as you step foot on the doorstep.

Persian Lv58, Protect, Slash, Fake Out, Thief

Lopunny Lv58, Charm, Slash, Agility, Tri Attack

Porygon-Z Lv59, Signal Beam, Conversion 2, Hyper Beam, Slash

Who is the mystery gym leader of Halfleaf City? We'll find out as we go through the Dragon types here. Enter and take the elevator. Go to the next room. You have a choice of two paths. On the left path:

Cooltrainer Parker: Gabite Lv56, Gyarados Lv56, Dragonair Lv57, P4560

In the next cave, you will meet up with Iron/Pure, who will take you to Siena, the redhead that you battled in Redwood City. She shows the DNA Splicer which is used for Kyurem, and presumes that Team Mirage wants it. Right on cue, we see Team Mirage show up. You will now battle Eliza.

Mirage Admin Eliza: Banette Lv57, Gengar Lv58, Cofagrigus Lv57, Eliza Lv64, P5120

They still steal the DNA Splicer and run off. Max comes in and gives a duplicated Basement Key which can be useful. Our next destination is Bronze Port once again, this time the storage area.

GLITCH: If you Escape Rope out of here, you'll be inside the hospital in Volcano Town. This only happens after the cutscene though.

You can take the next Trick House challenge right now by the way. Head back to Pinearoma Villa and enter, then find the guy in the right side of the bookshelf. The first two caves in the challenge room lead to trainers.

Beauty Sophia: Cherrim Lv52, Gardevoir Lv52, P4160

Go to the next floor and to the next set of steps to meet your allies.

Team Mirage Grunt: Honchkrow Lv58, Weezing Lv59, P236

Take the first teleporter you see to find a dead-end room...

Team Mirage Grunt: Arbok Lv59, P236

Team Mirage Grunt: Meowth Lv57, Scraggy Lv58, Swoobat Lv58, P232

Team Mirage Grunt: Scraggy Lv57, Lampent Lv57, Houndour Lv58, P232

At the SW end is the Card Key, let's put it to use. Head back to the very first Card Key door (on the first floor) and open it. Take the teleporter and the door you come across is a special one requiring three passwords. Note it for later.

Team Mirage Grunt: Koffing Lv58, Woobat Lv58, P232

If you head west, there is a teleporter here that leads to a Card Key door. This just takes you back to the room that had the Card Key, and the door in this room also leads to the same teleporter. Instead, open the door next to the last grunt, the next door leads to the room where your allies met you. There's a Rare Candy to the west.

Team Mirage Grunt: Golbat Lv58, Tentacruel Lv59, P236

Get the Zinc and open the stairs. You'll see Violet and the Trick Master. A grunt comes in as well, but this is Lily in disguise. She mentions one of three passwords to you, Murkrow's Wing. Lily then leads the captives to safety, and you can now battle the grunts who ignored you at the computers earlier. Start with the ones on the left side (which was the room that had the Card Key).

Team Mirage Grunt: Mightyena Lv58, Honchkrow Lv58, Chandelure Lv59, P236

Team Mirage Grunt: Muk Lv58, Toxicroak Lv58, P232, "Black and White"

Team Mirage Grunt: Absol Lv59, P236

Team Mirage Grunt: Scrafty Lv59, P236, "The reality and illusion"

Team Mirage Grunt: Cofagrigus Lv58, Machamp Lv59, P232

Get the Max Elixir and fight the familiar Team Mirage duo.

Team Mirage Karls&Bell: Dodrio Lv59, Electabuzz Lv59, Meganium Lv60, Machoke Lv60, P480

Afterwards, follow the path and you will find Uranium confronting Charlie and Louis. This is the multi-battle alongside Uranium. He uses Marowak, Lucario, and Eelektross as his members.

Mirage Admins Charlie & Louis: Gardevoir Lv60, Magneton Lv60, Haunter Lv60, Porygon-Z Lv60, Alakazam Lv60, Dragonite Lv60, P9600

After this, they explain that they will be at Mt. Skywall next. You'll also be healed for some reason. Leave the base and you'll be stopped by Lumiere, who gives you HM08 Dive and battles you.

PKMN Trainer Lumiere: Lucario Lv59, Honchkrow Lv60, Xatu Lv61, P10980

In Mt. Skywall, you'll need Surf and Rock Smash, and Flash is recommended. Go to the dark cave and surf to the NW side. Follow the path and take the ladder (which was blocked off by grunts before).

Wind and Night have fused Kyurem with Reshiram/Zekrom and will use it on you, only for Victini to intervene. You will then get Victini (Lv60) for free for the upcoming battle against Kyurem B/Kyurem W at Lv75. This is a wild encounter, so you can actually catch it. Afterwards, Uranium shows up to battle Night, and you'll battle Wind.

Mirage Leader Wind: Sigilyph Lv63, Absol Lv63, Roserade Lv64, Zoroark Lv64, Chandelure Lv65, Spiritomb Lv66, P18480

And so Team Mirage has officially fallen. You are in Tyron Tower with your allies, and Siena mentions that she's a gym leader, the last one you need the badge for the league. Move once and you will get into a battle with Lily.

PKMN Trainer Lily: Cherrim Lv63, Lumineon Lv63, Dodrio Lv64, Xatu Lv64, Lapras Lv65, P11700

What we want to do now is head south of Halfleaf City, but there's a few odds and ends to get. Head back to the peak of Mt. Skywall and go up the left set of steps, finding the grass there and a hidden Zinc. You can also get Reshiram/Zekrom at the top of Jade Volcano, go back to where you initially saw it and it's there at Lv70. Finally, you can head back to Cloud Meadow and head south now.

====POST-GAME========POST-GAME========POST-GAME========POST-GAME====

Main game finished. We are now in the post game. There’s an entire region to the west of Tyron we have yet to explore, but also a few odds and ends. Where to get a ticket to that region? Where to get HM07?

First up, head north from Freshwind Villa to Canyon Path. There's a new cave to the east, which leads to Canyon Lab. Inside, there's nothing here except Genesect, at Lv55. Afterwards, N shows up, thanking you for doing what he wanted to do. He'll be at Mt. Skywall now. You need to head there, and go all the way up to the peak where you battled Kyurem. There, N will give you HM07 Waterfall.

You can challenge him to a battle now, but he's one of the tougher opponents so we'll hold off at the moment. We got some backtracking to do. First, let's challenge the final Trick House challenge, which we need Waterfall for. The guy is under the SW chair.

Gentleman Wesley: Dragonair Lv62, Lucario Lv62, Toxicroak Lv63, P2016

Fisherman Seth: Blastoise Lv61, Seadra Lv63, P2520

Battle Girl Keira: Machoke Lv65, Lucario Lv64, P1536

Choose between the Red or Blue Tents. You're all done with the Trick House.

WATERFALL BACKTRACKING [WFAL]

Mt. Skywall (Marble City entrance): Scale the waterfall and get the Escape Rope in the NE corner. There's a ladder at the SW end, but ignore it for now.

Greenland City: Enter Greenland Cave and scale the waterfall. The next cave has encounters.

This is a linear path going east, but it's dark. At the end of the path is Mewtwo Lv65. You can mega evolve it into its X form only.

Dead Volcano: Go to the part that requires Strength, move the boulders, and go down this path to a new cave.

There's a Full Restore here and Entei Lv65.

Holy Karst Cave (entrance across lake):

Expert Taylor: Gabite Lv48, Mightyena Lv50, Toxicroak Lv51, P5100

Psychic Stan: Slowbro Lv54, P2160

Go through the next cave.

Go up to get the Meteorite. A quake occurs (the Meteorite will still be here), and when that happens, leave and head back to High Path. Enter the small cave called Myst Cave and you will find Deoxys at Lv55.

Holy Karst Cave (main entrances): Scale the waterfall on 1F. Enter the cave and take the first ladder. Go SE to find a PP Up. Take the SW ladder to find TM23 Iron Tail. One trainer is on the floor with the PP Up.

Cooltrainer Aaron: Seviper Lv50, Golem Lv52, P4160

One trainer is on 2F.

Black Belt Suzuki: Machamp Lv49, Lucario Lv51, P2040

On 2F, head to the exit at the east side to head back to 1F. You will find a Full Heal and a hole that leads to a PP Up.

This will, for now, conclude Waterfall Backtracking. We could actually go to the S.S. Bluesea to explore the underground lab, but we're gonna hold off until a little bit later when you have a stronger team. Head to Bronze Port, go to the harbor, talk to the woman, and Uranium comes in and will offer you one of his S.S. Ticket. You can now head to Western Tyron via the ferry.

He mentions that a boss is up to controlling this region with something. Uranium talks about the Dark Workers, the second evil team in this hack, and how they murdered his brother and destroyed his hometown, and even Eliza is on the trail of the Dark Workers.

The cities in Western Tyron have an equivalent to gyms, known as Battle Bases. These will always have trainers and leaders with varied teams. The Battle Bases look like small, dark gray buildings.

You can get a free Zorua by talking to the "woman" west of the PokeCenter. North of the Battle Base is a sailor who has a Storage Key, which we'll need for the S.S. Bluesea later on. In the house next to the sailor, you can get a free Squirtle. The gym here is the Whitewave Training Venue where you can see a scene with Silk and Cathaya. Let's go ahead and try out the Battle Base now.

The Battle Base is closed. Uranium is being attacked by white-suited and hatted individuals known as Dark Workers, so help him out.

Dark Worker Grunt: Nidoking Lv74, Weezing Lv76, Tyranitar Lv76, P4864

Follow Uranium and the grunts to the house. You'll see Uranium alone, looking at a poster. Talk to him and he'll say that we need a key to access what's behind the poster, and that Dark Worker grunts are around Eastern Tyron now. We don't have a lot of clues, but if you talk to Uranium again, he'll say that you should search big cities, then the roads, then the big cities again.

First stop is Redwood City. A Dark Worker is hiding behind the flower shop, find his white cap.

Dark Worker Grunt: Sableye Lv75, Typhlosion Lv76, P4864

He will run away to another part of Eastern Tyron. Fly to Marble City and go west to Marble Grassland, going to the SW end to find him again. He has the same team as described above.

Fly to Pure Village and head west to Volcano Path. You need to surf NW of Dead Volcano to find the guy. Once again, same team and all.

Now fly to Bronze Port and head to the old couple at the NE end. You'll find the guy and will battle him a fourth and final time. He will finally give you the Secret Key.

Return to Uranium in Crystal Villa and unlock the secret cavern behind the poster. Prepare to battle more grunts. You'll also spot Giratina while doing this.

Step on a green switch and head to the SE end to get an Ultra Ball. Now step on a blue switch and go NW. Pick up the Parlyz Heal but don't step on the green switch. Head north, east, and south, stepping on the green switch there, then enter the generator room. Here is Dr. Cathy, a researcher, Poison type specialist, and former leader of Bronze Port's gym.

GLITCH: Use an Escape Rope to leave Underwater Lab, and you'll basically be at not the S.S. Bluesea entrance to the lab, but in whichever location you last came out of (this can include buildings).

Return to Flora Island and enter the Flower Sea. Go to the back to find a new cave, called the Flora Chamber.

Head north up the steps, then all the way west to exit. On Flora Path, go all the way north to find Dr. Cathy. She mentions that the Shaymin here needs a Gracidea, and mentions the flower shop in Redwood City. Go there, talk to the receptionist, and you will get the Gracidea for free. Return to Flora Island, Flower Sea, Flora Chamber, and Flora Path; you will then have the chance to catch Shaymin in sky form at Lv65.

You can also rematch Dr. Cathy in the underwater lab at S.S. Bluesea at any time. She will use the same team.

You can battle Expert S in Greenland City by going to him in the 20th Century Company.

If you're ready to challenge N, he's on the peak of Mt. Skywall.

PKMN Trainer N: Politoed Lv97, Ninetales Lv97, Scizor Lv97, Glaceon Lv97, Zoroark Lv97, Reshiram/Zekrom Lv100, P18000

Wind mentions Darkrai was released by Night. You can get Darkrai outside the PokeCenter in Whitewave City at Lv65. Now prepare for the Tournament Tower.

TOURNAMENT TOWER [TTWR]

When I made my first guide on Victory Fire, I had erroneously thought that this place was going to be just like the Battle Tower in Emerald, where trainers are randomized. Turns out I was wrong, and it's just a set of regular battles against trainers. As for the battles themselves, you have three consecutive battles in five tiers, and these are regular battles.

Beginners Tournament:

Expert Chad: Hypno Lv90, Claydol Lv90, Gyarados Lv90, Typhlosion Lv90, Luxray Lv90, Altaria Lv90, P9000

Psychic Miriam: Musharna Lv90, Chandelure Lv90, Golduck Lv90, Gardevoir Lv90, Gengar Lv90, Alakazam Lv90, P3600

Aroma Lady Lenny: Gogoat Lv90, Bellossom Lv90, Roserade Lv90, Butterfree Lv90, Leafeon Lv90, Victreebel Lv90, P3600

Reminder, you are healed after every battle and you can use items/switch Pokemon.

Veterans Tournament:

PKMN Trainer Max: Raichu Lv92, Electrode Lv92, Jolteon Lv92, Electivire Lv92, Ampharos Lv92, Magnezone Lv92, P16560

PKMN Trainer Lily: Weavile Lv92, Cherrim Lv92, Lumineon Lv92, Dodrio Lv92, Xatu Lv92, Lapras Lv92, P16560

PKMN Trainer Cathaya: Tentacruel Lv92, Crobat Lv92, Honchkrow Lv92, Weavile Lv92, Vileplume Lv92, Seviper Lv92, P16560

Specialists Tournament:

PKMN Trainer Ash: Swellow Lv94, Scrafty Lv94, Meganium Lv94, Unfezant Lv94, Charizard Lv94, Pikachu Lv100 (holds Light Ball), P18000

Leader Juan: Bruxish Lv94, Lumineon Lv94, Lapras Lv94, Gyarados Lv94, Milotic Lv94, Kingdra Lv94, P9400

PKMN Trainer Ivan: Kabutops Lv94, Claydol Lv94, Magnezone Lv94, Houndoom Lv94, Salamence Lv94, Mienshao Lv94, P16920

Champions Tournament:

PKMN Trainer Cynthia: Spiritomb Lv96, Togekiss Lv96, Milotic Lv96, Roserade Lv96, Lucario Lv96, Garchomp Lv96, P17280

PKMN Trainer Uranium: Metagross Lv96, Marowak Lv96 (holds Thick Club), Sigilyph Lv96, Eelektross Lv96, Lucario Lv96, Suicune Lv96, P17280

PKMN Trainer Alder: Garchomp Lv96, Golem Lv96, Accelgor Lv96, Escavalier Lv96, Bouffalant Lv96, Volcarona Lv96, P17280

Final Tournament:

PKMN Trainer Gary: Nidoking Lv96, Alakazam Lv96, Electivire Lv96, Arcanine Lv96, Blastoise Lv96, Umbreon Lv98, P17640

PKMN Trainer Silver: Honchkrow Lv96, Crobat Lv96, Gyarados Lv96, Kingdra Lv96, Weavile Lv96, Feraligatr Lv98, P17640

Center Head Stanly: Mega Banette Lv96, Metagross Lv96, Darkrai Lv96, Cresselia Lv96, Mew Lv96, Deoxys Lv98, P3920

(note: while you heal from all the battles you face during the tournament, the final battle against Stanly is oddly the only one that doesn't heal you after the battle)

Winning these tournaments gives you a Master Ball, TM16 Light Screen, and TM47 Steel Wing. You can head to the lounge to battle several of these trainers again (same levels), but there's a new face on the right side.

Leader Cheren: Castform Lv94, Lopunny Lv94, Zangoose Lv94, Bouffalant Lv94 (holds Chesto Berry), Unfezant Lv96 (holds Chesto Berry), Haxorus Lv96 (holds Sitrus Berry), P9600

And as far as I’m concerned, that concludes Pokemon Victory Fire. This revisit to the hack has given way to slightly more information than in my previous guide, but this should hopefully cover just about everything necessary. Let me know if there’s anything I missed as usual.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Where to find Latias/Latios?

A: They will be roaming encounters in the hack as usual, you can watch the TV in your house to trigger them roaming, though since it's tied to your character gender, you can only get one of the two. For actually seeing them, Siena has Latias and Jacob has Latios, which will register them so you can find their locations later. Another way to get Latias/Latios is to hatch an egg given to you by the guardian of Rainbow Rock, which I’m sure is something that can be done in the post-game (possibly after either the Tyron League or Challenge Bridge).

Q: Are there any Pokemon that are not obtainable?

A: To my knowledge the following are not obtainable: Latias/Latios (whichever one you don’t actually see), and Kyurem B/W (whichever fused form you don’t end up battling on Mt. Skywall). You can get a total of 384 Pokemon for this hack.

Q: I found a hidden item/Pokemon location/evolution not in this FAQ! Can I show you my findings?

A: Sure, just let me know where/how you found it (please be specific though).

Q: I heard you can buy “X” somewhere! Where can I buy “X” that isn’t available in mainline Pokemon games?

A: Greenland City sells both the PP Up and PP Max items in the shop near the gym, neither of these I believe were sold in the mainline Gen-3 games (except for the Lottery corner or using Berry Powder, neither of which are in this hack). You can buy every single TM in the game in Halfleaf City, and evolution stones and held items are sold at the black market in Halfleaf City

Q: I need Heart Scales to give to Mr. T in Halfleaf City and I ran out! Where can I get more?

A: You’ll have to catch Bruxish in the waters. They replace Luvdisc from the original Gen-3 games and will likely have Heart Scales held when you catch them.

Q: Are you gonna make more detailed walkthroughs for rom hacks?

A: Absolutely without a doubt, although I won’t do it if someone else has beaten me to making a well-detailed walkthrough. But I’m sure there’s more rom hacks out there that could use a good guide to them and I’ll be the one to do that when the time comes.
