Lecture 1: Optical antennas
This first lecture will concentrate on the working principles and applications of optical antennas. In particular, we will learn about plasmonic nanoantennas and their dielectric counterparts, focusing on their field concentration capabilities and their ability to control the propagation of electromagnetic fields. Moreover, we will develop on several groundbreaking applications facilitated by them, focusing on novel spectroscopic techniques, the promise of meta-materials and the recent success of meta-surfaces on the creation of ultrathin optical elements.
Lecture 2: Chiral light matter interactions at the nano-scale
On this second lecture we will concentrate on the ability of dielectric antennas to mediate enhanced chiral light matter interactions at the nano-scale. We will learn on the importance of chiral molecules in living organisms, and different ways of studying and manipulating them using light. Building on the previous lecture, we will see how optical antennas can help augmenting these chiral light matter interactions, opening new venues for future technological applications.
