The #5 Middle School Lady Cougars defeated the #1 Pretty Prairie Bulldogs 28-24 to advance to the HOPL Championship game on Saturday, February 9, at Pratt-Skyline. The Cougars will be playing the #2 Norwich Eagles at 4:30 p.m.

We are asking CCS families to donate pies for our Benefit Meal and Auction on Saturday, February 16. The pies may be fruit, cream, custard, pecan, and no-bake varieties. If making pie is not for you, tasty pies can be purchased at places such as Carriage Crossing, Dutch Kitchen, Village Inn, and Smith’s Market. Adults and friends of CCS who love to play an instrument are invited to join the CCS pep band at Homecoming this Friday. Please contact Ms. Crystal Clobes at firstname.lastname@example.org If you or someone you know is interested. Mrs. Clobes will have music ready for you. Game admission is free for musicians performing with the pep band.
All middle school and high school band members will be playing in the pep band on Friday, February 8. Students will need to report to the music room and be ready to play by 7:00 p.m. The band will be dismissed after halftime of the boys varsity game.
On Friday, February 8, CCS is hosting prospective families at our home HS basketball games vs. Cunningham. If you know of students who might be interested in attending Central Christian, please invite them to come. Invitations have been mailed to CCS families to distribute, and additional fliers are in the office. Fliers given to prospective families will serve as their tickets for free gate admission and a family meal from the concession stand. There will be an informal time to ask questions about our school and take a tour if they desire. You can email names of prospective families to our Admissions Director, Tony Urwiller, at email@example.com.

From Mr. Kuhns, Superintendent: What a privilege it is to seek God and request His blessings! I am asking everyone who loves the Lord and has a passion to see young people develop a relationship with Him offer special prayers to our Creator throughout the week of February 10–16. We urge you to petition and plead with the Lord for the vitality of Christian education at CCS and around the world. The heart of education–is the education of the heart. Hearts do not change without the power of the Holy Spirit. Plead with the Lord to unleash His Spirit upon CCS and our community.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people (students). Pray also for me (the faculty/staff), that whenever I (we) speak, words may be given me (us) so that I (we) will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am (we are) an ambassador in chains. Pray that I (we) may declare it fearlessly, as I (we) should.
We have so many things to thank God for! From jet boats to chicken and noodles to a newly air-conditioned gym—God has blessed us.

Day of Prayer - Tuesday, February 12
Tuesday, February 12, is the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Day of Prayer. We urge you to pray for Christian educators around the world on Tuesday of this week. Christian schools from all around the world will be seeking God’s direction for the growth and impact of Christian education.
Ephesians 3:17–19 is ACSI’s theme verse:
“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
A few of us are planning to fast from various things during the week as a constant reminder of the urgency of the tasks set before us. We also encourage you to consider fasting throughout the week.

Kansas history came alive for Mrs. Spicer’s 4th grade class on Friday, February 1. In conjunction with Kansas’ birthday, each student chose a famous Kansan and researched their accomplishments. They created posters and presented their research to visitors during a living wax museum. Students dressed to look like their Kansans, and they gave brief presentations while role-playing the subjects of their research. They portrayed Kansans from the past and present. The 4th graders did a great job, and visitors learned so much.
Our February Box Tops for Education ice cream sundae contest is underway. Let’s get clipping and earn extra cash for CCS. Each week, students will have the opportunity to earn one or more items to build ice cream sundaes. The contest will end on Friday, February 22.

Mr. and Mrs. Moore would like to publicly thank the sophomore class and their sponsor, Mr. Urwiller, for their generous baby gifts. Shadow Day was a fun time for preschool and pre-K alike on January 31. Preschool students split their time with Mrs. Reiss and Mrs. Basgall who taught them about winter and the sun. They enjoyed being able to spend time in the big-kid classrooms that they may attend next school year. The pre-K students were surprised by a visit from CCS Kindergarten Teacher Mrs.Crouse who read them a story. Mrs. Bailey and Mrs. Lehman taught pre-K about groundhogs by reading a story, learning fun facts, watching last year's groundhog from Philadelphia, and making groundhog puppets.
