Orange County Players is offering its annual service award scholarship. Any high school senior who has participated in any Orange County Players production is eligible to apply. All applications must be submitted via email only.  The deadline for submitting the application is May 1st . Vincennes University Mathematics Education Scholarships (May 1, 2019)

Scholarships to be awarded to new students enrolling at Vincennes University for the 2019-2020 academic year as Mathematics Education majors.

1st place:  $2500, 2nd place:  $1500, 3rd place:  $1000

Scholarship Requirements:

1) Minimum SAT score 1100, including at least 550 in math, OR

    Minimum ACT composite score 22, including at least 23 in math

2) Participation in a mathematics classroom, grades 5-12, in one of the following positions:

This experience should include at least 20 hours and be documented by the supervising teacher(s).

3) Reflective Essay on Classroom Experience

One of the goals of the Vincennes University Mathematics Education program is that our preservice teachers and program graduates become reflective practitioners.  Teachers’ own experiences as mathematics learners profoundly influence their identity as teachers.  In addition, effective teachers continually reflect on how their choices and practices influence their students as mathematics learners.

Use these bullets to help guide your thinking as you write the essay.

Particularly, note your positive (and not so positive) experiences as a student in middle and high school classrooms.

Requirements for Reflective Essay

Applications will be judged by Cathy Strange, Mathematics Education Program Coordinator, Dr. Brian Christopher, and one additional Vincennes University mathematics faculty member.

Application deadline for the Mathematics Education Program Scholarships for the 2019-2020 academic year is May 1, 2019.

Scholarships are awarded for one academic year and are non-renewable.  Scholarships are not based on financial need.  Scholarship winners must have applied and been accepted to Vincennes University.

Dexter Eickelberger Memorial Scholarship (Due May 6th by noon)

The Dexter Eickelberger Memorial Scholarship is available to all current High School Seniors with plans pursue a degree at a two- or four-year college. The amount of the scholarship is $500.00. This is a one time award. This scholarship will be based on overall achievement, attitude, community involvement, activities in and out of school and applicants with continued participation in athletics will be prioritized. Please pick up an application in the guidance office. Due May 6th!

ORANGE COUNTY RETIRED TEACHERS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP (Due May 6)

ORANGE COUNTY RETIRED TEACHERS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

One scholarship of $1,000 may be awarded annually to a graduating senior at one of the three schools located in Orange County. The student must have a sincere intent to pursue a four-year degree leading to a career in education.

a. To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must have been accepted at an accredited college or university leading to an advanced degree.

b. Once a student has been selected as a scholarship recipient and enrolls for the following fall term, he or she shall receive the full value of the scholarship.

c. All financial awards shall be paid directly to the Financial Aid Administrative Office of the individual college or university at which the respective scholarship award recipient is enrolled.  

d. If it is in the best financial interest of the scholarship recipient, the recipient may request that the scholarship be held in escrow for one year.  With the approval of the Scholarship Committee, such action may be taken.

e. A scholarship shall be awarded to an applicant one time only and is nonrenewable.

f. The application is to be completed by the applicant and be returned to their high school guidance counselor no later than May 6th 2019. The counselor will give all application materials to the Orange County Retired Teachers Association (OCRTA).  

Kevin Drake Memorial Scholarship (Due May 7)

The Kevin Drake Memorial Scholarship will benefit one or more students who intend to further their education in a vocational, family and consumer science, agricultural, or medical profession.  Along with the application, please submit a copy of your transcript of grades and an acceptance letter from a school of higher education by Tuesday, May 7th. Applications available in the guidance office!

American Red Cross  (Due May 8)

The American Red Cross Blood Drive scholarship is a one-time award given to a student who has donated blood to the American Red Cross. Preference is given to students entering a CTE related field; medical, education, public safety, engineering/manufacturing, agriculture, automotive technology, construction, computer sciences, culinary arts, or business.

Please pick up a scholarship application in the guidance office. Due May 8th.

Jennifer Lundergan Memorial Scholarship (Due May 13)

This scholarship is available to any graduating senior entering the education or medical field. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and must include an essay and 1 letter of recommendation with their application. Applications can be picked up from and returned to the guidance office.


Nationwide Scholarships 

Scholarships listed below are available to students across the country.  They may have specific entry prerequisites and may require an essay, photos, or additional attachments.  Please read the specifications carefully before applying.


Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship (February 28, 2019)

Students are invited to apply for Pet Lifestyle and You’s annual Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship rewards one student who can tell the best story in 500-1000 words, describing the impact he or she made in the life of a rescue animal or animal welfare cause in general. All participants must be enrolled as a full-time high school senior. All essay submissions must be received by 11:59pm PT on Wednesday, February 28, 2019.

Adore Me Scholarship (March 1, 2019)

The Adore Me Scholarship provides financial assistance, amounting to $1,000, to women who are pursuing a degree in business. Recipients will have demonstrated a strong ability to lead in their community and will have already started, or plan to start, their own businesses. Entrants must be high school graduates or college students who are already accepted or enrolled in an accredited four-year undergraduate institution in the U.S.. Applicants must be enrolled in a business program or plan to major in a business course of study. Recipient(s) are awarded based on entrepreneurial spirit, leadership ability, and academic achievement. Applicants' transcripts (high school or college) must demonstrate a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants must write an essay describing your business goals for the future and your previous accomplishments that have prepared you to accomplish your goals in fewer than 500 words.  Applications must be submitted by March 1, 2019.

Sports Unlimited Scholarship (April  25, 2019)

Sports Unlimited is offering a $1,000 college scholarship to the athlete who inspires the most through his or her essay. Students must write a 500-1000 word essay answering the question, “What changes to sports and/or sports equipment do you think we will see in the next 10 years and why?”  Students must be a graduating senior or a freshman/sophomore in college. Essay must be submitted by April 25, 2019.

MyProjectorLamps.com Scholarship (April  25, 2019)

The MyProjectorLamps.com Scholarship contest challenges entrants to create a one page essay detailing your ideas about the use of multimedia and data visualization in K-12 classrooms. Explore modern teaching methods and propose specific ideas for visual and interactive presentation in K-12 classrooms for improved knowledge retention. Participants must be at least 14 years old, currently attending high school, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and must follow or ‘LIKE’ the MyProjectorLamps Facebook page. Entries must be postmarked by April 15th, 2019.

Village Bakery Aspire-To-Be Scholarship (July 31, 2019)

Village Bakery will award one scholarship each year in the amount of $1,000.  The amount will be paid directly to the recipient of the scholarship during the last week of August. This scholarship is aimed at providing supplemental help to students who are looking to pursue a college education; particularly students who are looking to run their own business one day. To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must be at least 18 years old as of the application deadline, currently enrolled in high school, an outstanding student (GPA of 2.5 or above), and have a career goal of running their own business. All applicants are required to submit a 2,000 word essay describing “what fuels your drive to succeed.”

Hoosier Hills Credit Union Scholarship  (April 30th 2019)

1) The scholarship is established to recognize a son or daughter of a Hoosier Hills Credit Union member in good standing. Students whose parents are employees or volunteers of Hoosier Hills Credit Union are not eligible to receive this scholarship.

2) The recipient of the Hoosier Hills Credit Union Scholarship must show evidence that they are in the upper third of the graduating class and have participated in school functions, activities or clubs during their high school enrollment and/or have participated in community service activities.

Psi Iota Xi Scholarship (April 30th 2019)

The Theta Beta Chapter of Psi Iota Xi is a nonprofit organization in Paoli, Indiana. Psi Iota Xi has contributed to many philanthropic projects such as Scholastic Book Distributions, College Scholarships, Indiana Deaf Camp Foundation, Camp Riley, as well as many Orange County projects. Our mission is to advance in the fields of Speech, Hearing, Art, Music, and Literature. Our goal is to stay true to our vision. We are excited to once again offer a scholarship to a 2019 Paoli graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in Speech, Hearing, Art, Music, or Literature. All Psi Iota Xi scholarship applications may be picked up at the guidance office. Please complete the application and return it to the guidance office by April 30th 2019.

Donavon E. & Donavon L. Sailer Scholarship (Due April 30, 2019)

The Donavon E. & Donavon L. Sailer Scholarship is available to any graduating senior who plans to pursue a degree or certificate at an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university. This one-time award prioritizes students pursuing a career in the fields of civil engineering/construction/technical/vocational areas. Please pick up and turn in applications to the guidance office.

Chad and Karen Johnson Legacy Scholarship (Due April 30, 2019)

The Chad and Karen Johnson Legacy Scholarship is available to any graduating senior who plans to pursue a degree or certificate at an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university. This one-time award prioritizes students pursuing a career in the field of education or technical/vocational areas. Applications are available from the guidance office.

Joseph B. Williams Memorial Scholarship (April 15, 2019.)

The Central Indiana Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) is sponsoring our 5th Annual scholarship open to all Indiana graduating high school seniors that plan to pursue a career related to the plastics industry.  Please note that due to low applicants in past years the scholarship committee approved a modification of the eligibility criteria allowing a broader range of STEM majors for both 2 year and 4 year degrees. 

 The Deadline for candidates is April 15, 2019.

Hoosier Uplands Scholarship (March 1, 2019)

Indiana State Teachers Association Scholarships (March 1, 2019)
All members of the ISTA family are urged to solicit high school seniors to apply for the 2019 scholarships for which they are eligible:

ISTA Career Scholarship - Dependent of an ISTA member.
ISTA Educator Scholarship – Student who is planning to pursue a degree in education and is a dependent of an ISTA member.
Damon P. Moore Scholarship - Ethnic minority student planning to pursue a teaching certificate.
Justine M. Harrell Memorial Scholarship – Student planning to pursue a degree in education.
Louis B. Russell Scholarship - Ethnic minority student planning to attend an accredited postsecondary institution to pursue a degree in industrial technology, vocational education, or technical preparation.

All scholarships are $1,000 awards, with an option to renew for three consecutive years (Exception:  Louis B. Russell is renewable for one year).

Apprenticeship Opportunity (March 8, 2019)
Earn while you learn! Opportunities are available for plumbers, pipe-fitters, welders, and HVAC technicians with UA Local 136 Plumbers & Steamfitters/M.C.A.

Applicants must be 18 years old and  possess a high school diploma by August 1st 2019, provide proof of driver's license or state id, pass a drug screen, and sit for an interview.

Classes begin August 2019, excellent wages, benefit package, associates degree awarded through Ivy Tech after successful completion of the 5 year apprenticeship program!

Orange County REMC Operation Round Up Scholarship (Due February 15, 2019)

This scholarship recognizes the academic and community achievements of current seniors from Orange and surrounding counties and assists them in developing an understanding of community issues, while providing them with financial assistance to pursue higher education. One $750 scholarship will be awarded to a Paoli student. To be eligible, the student must be a current senior and 2017 graduate. Also, an applicant's parent, legal guardian, or primary relative must be a member of Orange County REMC and participate in Operation RoundUp.

Phillip E. Brown & Mary Louise Brown Scholarship (January 11, 2019)

This year, the CFCC has a scholarship opportunity available to students in Orange County! The Phillip E. Brown & Mary Louise Brown Scholarship is intended for a student who is a graduate or graduating senior of Crawford County High School or an Orange County High School. Last year, this scholarship paid out $2,000.00 to the recipient. We will not know the exact payout until the end of December, but we expect the value of the scholarship to be around $2,000.00 again this year.

The application opens today, and it is due to the CFCC office by 4 p.m. on Friday, January 11. The completed application can be mailed to the CFCC office at the address listed on the application: 4030 East Goodman Ridge Road, Box D, Marengo, IN 47140, or it can be scanned and emailed to lfraime@cf-cc.org.

Lions Club Scholarship (Due April 30, 2018)

1. Fill out the application form completely and sign.

2. in 500 words or less, clearly explain how this scholarship will assist you in achieving your career goals. Essays MUST be typed or printed neatly and submitted with completed application information.

3. If selected, what educational or training program would you like to attend? Provide specific dates, locations, and expenses.

4. Applicants must provide a current resume or official school transcript.

5. Applicant must provide two letters of recommendation; one must be from a supervisor, faculty member or other individual knowledgeable with applicant's qualifications. Family members are ineligible.

6. Application must be postmarked by : 4/30/2018

7. Scholarship amount for 2018 is $500. Applicant will be notified on Awards Night and the money will be distributed to the school.

Orange County Retired Teachers Foundation Scholarship (Due April 30, 2018)

One scholarship of $500 may be awarded annually in rotating alphabetical order (Orleans, Paoli, Springs Valley) to a graduating senior in the three schools located in Orange County - as long as an application is received from the designated school and as long as the applicant meets the criteria. If there is no valid application from the designated school, the scholarship shall be made available to a student at the next school on the list in alphabetical order.

a. To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must have been accepted at an accredited college or university leading to an advanced degree.

b. Once a student has been selected as a scholarship recipient and enrolls for the following fall term, he or she shall receive the full value of the scholarship.

c. All financial awards shall be paid directly to the Financial Aid Administrative Office of the individual college or university at which the respective scholarship award recipient is enrolled.

Kevin Drake Memorial Scholarship (Due May 1st)

Applications for the Kevin Drake Memorial Scholarship are now available in the counselor’s office.  This scholarship is open to any graduating senior who is planning to further their education in an agricultural, vocational, or medical profession. Orange County Players is offering its annual service award scholarship. Any high school senior who has participated in any Orange County Players production is eligible to apply. Mitchell & Crunk Adoption Scholarship (Due May 31, 2018)

Anyone pursuing a future career in adoption law? Please consider applying for the Mitchell & Crunk Adoption Scholarship. This scholarship is available for any high school senior.

IAEOP Scholarship (Due February 10)

The Indiana Association of Educational Office Professionals is offering a scholarship designed to assist a business education student who wishes to continue his/her education in an office-related career.  Criteria for selection is based on:  Scholastic 40%; Need 30%; Self Help 10%;  Recommendations 10%;  Biographical Sketch (Application and Essay) 10% = 100%. Applicants must have completed two (2) or more business educational courses,  four (4) semesters within four (4) years of high school from among the following:  computer   programming, accounting, finance, business (management, law, co-op,etc), computer science,  or classes comparable to these courses. The applicant shall be enrolled, having made application to an institute of higher education (two (2) or four (4) year college, university, business college, or school of vocational/technical education). Additional information and applications can be picked up in the guidance office.

Beta Sigma Psi Scholarships (Due February 17)

The Beta Sigma Psi Educational Foundation has scholarships offered by the National Lutheran Fraternity to current male seniors graduating in 2017. The available scholarships include; the Christian Leadership Award, available to young men entering Indiana University, Purdue University, or the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign during the Fall 2017 semester, and the Martin Luther Scholarship available for use at any accredited 4-year college or University. Applications can be picked up in the guidance office or found online athttp://scholarships.betasigmapsi.org/.

Phi Beta Psi Scholarship (Due March 1st)

The scholarship is for $750 per year, awarded two or four consecutive years provided the student continues their studies in an approved field and has maintained at 3.0 GPA or higher. A new scholarship will be presented each April to an Indiana high school graduate pursuing the field of Medical Technology, Medical Lab Technology, Radiology Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Cytotechnology, or Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Applications can be picked up from and returned to the guidance office.

Indiana University Bloomington Cox Scholars Program (Due March 10th)

The Cox Scholars Program at IU Bloomington is available to interested student who have been admitted to IU Bloomington. This scholarship and stipend package will equal the total cost of admission to IU Bloomington. Admitted students can apply through their One.IU account and more information can be found at go.iu.edu/coxscholars.

Bedford Board of Realtors (Due March 15th)

Two area seniors will be selected for this award. This scholarship is available to any student who is the child or grandchild or legal guardian of a primary/secondary member of the Bedford Board of Realtors. Questions can be directed to Debra Suddarth, Scholarship Committee Chairperson, at 812-849-3456. Applications can be picked up in the guidance office.

United Producers Inc. Scholarship (Due April 1st)

Seniors who are the child or grandchild of a member of United Producers Inc. are eligible to apply. Applicants should be pursuing an agriculture based college major. Applications can be picked up from the guidance office and may be returned to Mr. Crowder, or mailed/e-mailed directly to United Producers Inc.

Farm Bureau Incorporated Scholarship (Due April 21st)

The Farm Bureau Scholarship is available to any graduating senior who has received an acceptance letter from any school of higher education. Applicants must be immediate family with a member of Orange County Farm Bureau. Stop by the guidance office for an application, then return your completed application to Farm Bureau office by April 21st. You can also return the application to the guidance office by April 20th so that they can be delivered to Farm Bureau on the 21st.  Not giving one this year

Lillian Brand Foster Child Scholarship (Due May 1st)

The Lillian Brand scholarship was created and made available by Lillian Brand, a community member interested in helping those who have been in the foster care system to excel through the post secondary setting. This one-time award is available to any graduating PHS senior who have been in foster care and pursuing any post-secondary training or education. Interested students can pick up applications from the guidance office.

Indiana State University Blumberg Scholarship (Due March 1, 2018)

The Blumberg Center Scholarship is awarded to one incoming freshman majoring in either special education or communication disorders.  The scholarship includes an award of $1,500.00 per year for a maximum of four years with a maintained GPA of 3.5.  The selected Freshman Blumberg Scholar works with the Blumberg Center staff and other Blumberg Scholars to gain valuable experience by participating in Blumberg Center activities (50 contact hours per semester) during his or her time at Indiana State University.

Scholarship applications are reviewed by a selection committee that considers previous work/volunteer experiences, recommendations, class rank, most recent transcript, GPA, and SAT/ACT.  Applications are due by March 1, 2018.   Additional information and a scholarship application form can be found on the Blumberg Center website at https://www.indstate.edu/education/blumberg/events-and-services/student-services. David L. Miller Scholarship (Due March 15, 2018)

The David L. Miller Scholarship is available to one Paoli graduating senior. The complete application is available only by requesting a copy via email to lisa@southmadisonfoundation.org.

+Submit 300-500 word biography outlining significant accomplishments, persons who have been an influence, and a statement of educational/career goals
+1 copy of your FAFSA report
Financial eligibility based on 200% of the median household income for Orange County (published by Dept. of Housing & Urban Development) & adjusted for family size.
For the 2018 graduating year:
If family size is 1, gross household income cannot exceed $58,013
If family size is 2, gross household income cannot exceed $66,300
If family size is 3, gross household income cannot exceed $74,588
If family size is 4, gross household income cannot exceed $82,876
If family size is 5, gross household income cannot exceed $89,506
If family size is 6, gross household income cannot exceed $96,136
If family size is 7, gross household income cannot exceed $102,766
If family size is 8, gross household income cannot exceed $109,396

Indiana Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship (Due April 1, 2018)

The I.S.A. Scholarship is available to any graduating senior who is committed to pursuing an education and career in a law enforcement field at an Indiana college or university. Any seniors who are pursuing an education and career in the criminal justice field can apply for this scholarship! Forty $500 scholarships are being awarded. All applicants must be a current member of the I.S.A. or a dependent child or grandchild of a current member. Paper applications can be picked up in the Guidance Office, but must be returned to the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association no later than April 1st.

1. All applicants must be an Indiana resident

2. Must be committed to pursuing an education and career in a law enforcement field at an Indiana College or University.

3. All applicants must be a current member of the association, or a dependent child or grandchild of a current member of the association. If you do not meet the membership requirement, an application for membership is attached to the application.

4.All applicants must enroll as a full-time student (12 hours).

40 scholarships awarded for $750 each

2019 Scholarship Program (April 1, 2019)

United Producers, Inc. is offering up to 10 – $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school students pursuing agricultural careers. The purpose of the UPI scholarship program is to help and encourage deserving students to pursue careers in agriculture or agriculture-related fields of study.

Requirements:

Children and grandchildren of full-time UPI employees or the Board of Directors are not eligible for this award.

ISTA Foundation District Scholarships (April 1, 2019)

The ISTA Foundation offers scholarships through area district councils.  Each *district council will award a $700 scholarship for 2019.
