PROGRAM INTERN
Overview
The focus of this role is to assist with the development, facilitation, & evaluation of after school programming for youth 10-18 years old and will require regular interaction with youth & families from diverse backgrounds.
This internship is ideal for college students looking for direct interaction with youth. We are happy to work with interns to meet requirements for course credit.
Essential Functions
- Help plan, facilitate, and evaluate activities for youth
- Provide support to the coordinator
- Serve as additional support for volunteer staff
- Provide safe, enjoyable experience for all program participants
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop relationships and maintain communication with youth, staff and partners
- Work directly with the Executive Director on administrative tasks
- Effectively communicate evaluations of current programming and propose new ideas
- Assist with one or both of the following programs:
1. Becoming & Quick Bites
- Solicit referrals for student participation from community partners
- Prepare course material and maintain a schedule for relaying course material
2. Good Fight Way
- Lead weekly meetings with students participating in “GFW”
- Meet with mentor/tutor staff assigned to students
- Track student progress and lead all necessary communications tracking student success
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university/college program to receive credit
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and/or Google Drive (Word, Presentation, Excel and Calendar)
- Experience working with youth
- Program development and facilitation experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-directed and able to work without supervision
Compensation
Receive university credits and stipend payment from The Good Fight Community Center
Stipend Dates: March 15, May 15, October 15, December 15
• $1000 per semester (minimum 10 hours per week)
