Turtle Lake Mission

Board Attendees: Bob Gourlay, John Cameron, Jim Range, Nancy Range, George Rozdilsky, Bernie Lukan

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 10:10 A.M.

President Jim Range opened the meeting and welcomed the members. Jim reviewed the agenda and asked for any additional items. None were presented.

Bob Gourlay read the minutes from the June 18, 2011 Board meeting and asked for errors or omissions. None were  noted. George Rozdilsky motioned the minutes be adopted, Seconded by Bernie Lukan, Carried by a show of hands.

Financial Report 

Bob Gourlay reported that the TLWI bank account as of July 31, 2011 was $8,755.78.

Bob moved the financial report be adopted as read and discussed. John Cameron seconded, motion carried by a show  of hands.

Bob apologized for not having 2011 Audited Financial statement ready, but proposed it be sent out via email to all  board members for their review and acceptance.

Website Traffic 

Bob Gourlay provided a written report on website traffic on www.tlwi.ca .from January 1, 2011 to August 27, 2011. 4,686 Visits with a daily average of 21.4 visits.

Bob requested ideas for any new website information that people would find relevant. Suggestions included: cottage  and boat numbers on Turtle Lake, invite people to submit historical pictures of people and events at Turtle Lake.

Water levels on Turtle Lake 

2011 Water levels on Turtle Lake were well above the 20 year norm, peaking at 21 inches above full supply. This was  4 inches above the 2010 level and 6 inches above the 2009 levels.  

New Business 

In a general discussion around 2012 programming ideas, those present felt that the Living by Water Handbook had been  a very effective tool in educating lake users and ultimately changing attitudes and behavior.

John Cameron motioned that 5 more cases of the Living by Water handbook be purchased for distribution in 2012.  Seconded by Bernie Lukan, carried by a show of hands.

George Rozdilsky motioned that the TLWI Board purchase a small gift for Terry Kotyk, who was instrumental in  founding the TLWI and served as the President for four years. Seconded Nancy Range, carried by a show of hands.  Bob Gourlay will make arrangements for the gift and its presentation.

The meeting adjourned at 11:40 A.M.
