Teach For America (TFA): Common Financial Questions
1. What’s the overall cost of the program?
The Master’s degree program costs $12,000, broken down into 5 semesters and billed at $2,400 each.
• Summer I: $2400
• Fall I: $2400
• Spring I: $2400
• Summer II: $2400
• Fall II: $2400
The Certificate program costs $9,000, consisting of 4 semesters billed at $2,250 each.
• Summer I: $2,250
• Fall I: $2,250
• Spring I: $2,250
• Fall II: $2,250
NOTE: Please know that the TFA rate requires a manual adjustment. You will initially see a higher charge, but it will eventually change to match the charges above. If you do not see an adjustment after a few weeks, please email Jezabel Teston at jezabel.teston@asu.edu. If you do not follow the recommended enrollment plan, your charges may vary.
2. Which FAFSA should I complete?
To receive financial aid for Summer 2025, you should complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA. For Fall 2025, you will need to complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA. Essentially, you should complete both if you plan to use financial aid for your program. The 2024-2025 FAFSA deadline is June 30th, 2025.
3. When are my first charges due?
The Summer 2025 billing cycle will be delayed until August 25th, 2025, in order to give you plenty of time to qualify for and accept federal aid—but again, the 2024-2025 FAFSA deadline is June 30th, 2025.
NOTE: The Summer 2025 delayed billing date is not automatic. When charges initially appear, the due date will be the official 5/25 deadline. This due date will remain until a few weeks before the Summer 2025 starts when the Billings team will manually adjust your due date to 8/25/2025.
4. When are Fall, and future semester charges due?
The Fall 2025 tuition deadline is August 25th, 2025. Students owing $500 or more on 8/25/2025 will be automatically enrolled into the ASU payment plan. Arizona residents are
charged $100, Nonresidents are charged $200. For spring and future summer billing cycles, click HERE. If payments are not made within the 30-day grace period, late fees will be applied, per below.
5. What happens if I do not pay my ASU Charges?
You must pay your ASU charges EVERY semester. If you will receive AmeriCorps but will not access these funds prior to the charge due date, please plan for how you will pay those ASU charges (e.g. use federal loans or pay out of pocket).
If you do not pay ASU charges by their due date, it will result in additional payment and late fees. If ASU charges reach at least $3000, you will receive an enrollment hold that will prevent course registration.
6. I would like to use federal loans to pay for my ASU charges. How do I apply for federal student loans?
File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, (FAFSA).
Students will need to file a 2024-2025 FAFSA in order to qualify for federal student loans during Summer 2025. The application deadline is June 30th, 2025. The 2024-2025 FAFSA will request tax and income information from 2022. It’s okay if you didn’t file a federal return or you didn’t work. You must take action to accept any desired loan aid before the Summer semester ends to allow disbursement directly to your Summer charges.
Students will need to file a 2025-2026 FAFSA in order to qualify for federal student loans during Fall 2025, Spring 2026 and Summer 2026. The 2025-2026 FAFSA will request tax and income information from 2023. It’s okay if you didn’t file a federal return or didn’t work. Please see the FAFSA Quick Guide below:

7. What if I already filed my 2024-2025 FAFSA as an undergraduate student?
For students who’ve already filed a 2024-2025 FAFSA as an undergraduate and with another university, follow the steps outlined below.
a. Answer “YES” to the following question on 2024–2025 FAFSA:
i. Question 28 (under the "Student Demographics" tab on the FAFSA website):
1. Will you have your first bachelor's degree before you begin the 2024–
2025 school year?
ii. Question 47 (under the "Dependency Status" tab on the FAFSA website):
1. At the beginning of the 2024–2025 school year, will you be working on
a master's degree or doctoral program?
b. NOTE: If you are admitted to the ASU Graduate Certificate program, you will NOT answer “YES” to question # 47, since ASU Graduate Certificates do not lead to a master’s degree.
8. I submitted my 2024-2025 & 2025-2026 FAFSA. What do I do now?
You must be enrolled in at least five graduate credits each semester to qualify for federal loans. Once you enroll in courses (advising will provide your schedule), please accept your loans (see link on how to accept loans) and complete any financial priority tasks that populate on your MyASU. Not completing these tasks will prevent your loan(s) from disbursing. Common priority tasks include the Loan Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note.
