Campus Living Housing Application 2025-2026 FAQs
Submitting the Application
- Is my room selection time slot based on the time I submit my application?
- No, the time in which you submit your application between February 28th-March 31st has no bearing on your room selection timeslot. So long as you submit your application by the March 31st, 2025 deadline, you will be given a time slot for room selection based on your class standing and entering year. Application submission timestamps will not be considered when we process room selection time slots.
- I am not sure if I am going abroad next year/Spring 2026. Should I still apply for housing for 2025-26?
- We suggest you wait until later in March when you have heard from the overseas office before applying for on-campus housing. However, you will still need to submit your application by March 31st, 2025 to meet the deadline. We suggest you submit an all year application if you are not sure about the status of your overseas trip by March 15th.
- I signed up for the wrong semester of housing on the portal. What should I do?
- Please email living@lclark.edu as soon as possible to let us know if you need to change your housing application term (Fall Only, Spring Only, or All Year).
Single Semester Bookings - Fall Only and Spring Only Housing
- I heard that Fall Only and Spring Only residents will be assigned to Stewart. I am a Fall Only/Spring Only resident- can I live outside of Stewart?
- 1-semester students will only be able to select Stewart Hall for their semester on-campus, unless they meet at least 1 of the exceptions:
- (1) they have an accommodation that can not be met by the facilities in Stewart-Odell, or
- (2) the student will be graduating at the end of that academic year. If you are a senior graduating at the end of Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 and want to live outside of Stewart, please email living@lclark.edu by March 28th, 2025.
- As a single semester resident in Stewart-Odell, can I live in a single or have a double to myself?
- Single rooms in Stewart are limited and will be filled by those with an OSA single room accommodation first. Single semester students with single room accommodations may be placed in Holmes Hall singles. Single semester Stewart-Odell residents should expect to live in a double room. We will be working with these single semester students to pull in all year roommates.
- When will single semester students select their rooms?
- Single semester students will participate in April room selection. Students with a single semester application will only be able to view beds in Stewart and Odell Hall during Room Selection.
Overseas Trips
- I don’t know if I have been accepted for my Spring 2026 abroad program. Should I sign up for housing?
- While the application opens on February 28th, we are accepting housing applications for priority until March 31st, 2025. We suggest you hold off on submitting an application until you know your abroad trip status. You will still have enough time to submit an application and the time of application submission does not influence room selection time slots.
- My trip abroad might get canceled. What should I do for my housing needs?
- If you are worried about your housing needs based on the uncertainty of your overseas trip, we ask that you apply for the housing you would need if your trip is able to go. If your trip is not able to go, we will try to extend your housing to include the full year.
Room Preferences, Room Selection, and Time Slots
- When will room selection happen for 2025-2026?
- Room selection will be April 21st-25th, 2025.
- What should I know or do before room selection?
- We suggest you read through the How to Select a Room Guide and speak with roommates before room selection about who the group leader is, what rooms you want to select, etc.
- What day and time will I get to choose my room?
- Room Selection will depend on your class standing, entry term, and residency requirement.
- For Example: Rising seniors will receive an earlier time slot than rising juniors. Rising seniors who entered in Fall 2021 will have an earlier time than rising seniors who entered Fall 2022.
- I submitted my room preferences but I am worried that I might not be able to select one of my preferences during room selection. What will my options be?
- Room Preferences don’t have a bearing on the rooms you will see during room selection. Instead, you will be able to view all open beds you are eligible for given your class standing, entry term, and completion of the residency requirement.
- Which gets priority: roommate groups or hall preferences?
- Neither! Room selection time slots are based on class standing, entry term, and time spent in the residence halls. Your hall preferences do not have a bearing on the rooms you will be able to view during room selection. Your roommate group won’t impact your selection time. However, if a member of your roommate group has an earlier time slot, that will benefit your group as the group leader can assign all members into a bed.
- I submitted my application later in March. Will this impact the rooms I am able to choose during room selection?
- No! You will have the same opportunity for room selection as any other student who submitted by March 31st. Of course, your room selection time slot will be based on class standing, entry term, and your residency requirement.
Housing Accommodations
- Do I need to re-apply for a housing accommodation if I already have one?
- If you have a new housing accommodation need that is not currently written into your accommodation, you will need to meet with The Office of Student Accessibility (OSA) to update your housing needs. However, if your accommodation still fits your needs, you do not need to work with OSA again.
Housing Portal: Roommate Finding and Roommate Groups
- I am having trouble finding my roommate on the housing portal. How can I find my friends?
- They likely did not check the ‘find in roommate search’ button on the housing portal application. Ask your friend to log back in and change this setting. If you still aren’t able to add them to your roommate group, please email living@lclark.edu.
- How do I live in a Hartzfeld suite with specific roommates?
- If you and a group of friends would like to live in a Hartzfeld doubles together, then form a 4 person roommate group and have the group leader assign students into beds during room selection.
- What should we do if our roommate group’s leader doesn’t have a good timeslot?
- We suggest that you make the person with the best time slot the group leader. They will be responsible for assigning all members of the roommate group into a bed, so make sure to plan before room selection starts.
Apartments + Juniper
- I will not be a junior or senior for 2025-2026. Can I still live in the apartments or Juniper?
- To live in the Apartments or Juniper, you:
- must have junior class standing or above or
- be at least 21 years of age if not a junior or above and
- have either lived on campus for four semesters or be considered to have completed or been exempted from the residency requirement.
- We only have three friends in a roommate group. Can we still apply for a 4 person apartment?
- Yes, you can. However, we will fill all beds in the apartments, so another student will be assigned to fill the fourth bed.
Single Rooms
- How do I get a single room?
- Single rooms are not guaranteed. You will be able to view all rooms available to you during room selection based on your entry term, class standing, and residency requirement. If single rooms are still available during your time slot, you are welcome to select one for your assignments.
- I need to be placed in a single room. What can I do?
- If you believe a single room would be a part of a housing accommodation need for you, please work with the Office of Student Accessibility for a single room accommodation. See our ‘housing accommodation’ section of this FAQ for more information.
- I selected a double during room selection but no one chose the other bed. Can I have a “dingle”?
- Maybe. We are not sure if we are going to be able to offer double-single buyouts for Fall 2025 or Spring 2026. We will email students in a double-single buyout if we are able to offer buyouts.
Overflow Rooms + Triples
- Will there be overflow housing for 20235-26?
- The need for overflow housing is dependent on both the new student class size and on-campus housing demand from returning residents. We do not plan on hosting any overflow rooms for 2025-2026.
Resident Advisors
- I am an RA for 2025-2026. Should I still apply for housing?
- You should apply for housing as normal. We will place you into your assigned RA room but during room selection, you can choose a meal plan
Quads and Suites
- Can I live in a quad with 3 people?
- You can select a quad with a roommate group of 3 people but should expect for a fourth person to be placed into the 4th bed space.
- Are there suites on campus?
- Yes, suite style rooms can be found in Hartzfeld, where two double are connected by an ensuite bathroom and Holmes, where two doubles are connected by a shared common space. Holmes suites do not have ensuite bathrooms but instead use the hall’s communal restroom spaces.
Meal Plans
- When can I select a meal plan for 2025-2025?
- You will be able to select a meal plan during room selection. Even if your roommate assigns you into a bed as the group leader, you should still sign into the housing portal to complete meal plan selection.
Living Learning Communities (LLCs)
Summer Housing
- Can I stay in my spring apartment over the summer and fall?
- Potentially- if you apply for summer housing, we might be able to keep you in your apartment for summer. However, your ability to remain in the same apartment for Fall will depend on if you are able to select that apartment during room selection.
Housing Deposits
- What happens if I don’t pay my 2025-2026 housing deposit by March 31st?
- Students who do not pay their deposit by the March 31st deadline will be considered incomplete applications.
- Required residents who do not complete the Application Phase on-time will (1) NOT be eligible to participate in the Roommate Building phase and (2) will be given a Room Selection timeslot for the final day of room selection.
- While campus living expects to be able to accommodate all interested not required students for the 2025-26 academic year, students who are Not Required to live on campus for the 2025-26 academic year who do not complete the Application Phase on time will (1) NOT be eligible to participate in the Roommate Building phase, (2) will NOT be eligible to participate in Room Selection
- When will I get my housing deposit back?
- You won’t receive your housing deposit back after the academic term is over. Instead, your housing deposit goes towards the cost of room and board.
Canceling Contracts
- I have finished my residency requirement and don’t need to live on campus any longer. I signed up for 2025-2026 housing but now my plans have changed. Can I cancel my contract?
- Is there a way to cancel my contract and get my deposit back?
- Yes, if you cancel your contract by July 1, 2025 for the Fall 2025 term, then you will receive your deposit back.
