How to add language to keyboard on Windows

This tutorial explains how to change the keyboard language through the Control Panel in a Windows operating system. Users will be able to type in another language characters.

Step 1

Using the Windows search bar, type in “Control Panel” and hit enter. This is located at the bottom-left of the screen. Windows 10 will have a magnifying glass that acts as the search. Windows 7 you need to click the start button first. Sometimes it will be available to click from the start menu.

Step 2

Then click on “Change input methods”

Note: If you don’t see that option, please make sure that Category view is selected in the “View by:”

Step 3

Then click “Add a language”


Step 4

Click the language you want to add and hit “add” in the bottom right corner.

Step 5

Once you have added the language(s) you want, you must reorder them to prioritize which language should be used first, if possible. The language on the top of the list will be the one that Windows tries to use first.
