- Event Information
Place: 3605 84th Ave SE, Mercer Island, WA 98040 (Mercer Island Presbyterian Church)
Dates: March 1st, 2025
Registration starts on JANUARY 1st, 2025. (Registration will close after 100 applicants: No waitlist)
An assigned audition time will be emailed to each participant no later than February 24, 2025.
- Divisions: A & B
A: Piano
Junior Division: Students in grades 5–8
Senior Division: Students in grades 9–12
B: Strings, Woodwind/Brass, Voice, & Chamber
Junior Division: Students in grades 5–8
Senior Division: Students in grades 9–12

- $70 for Junior Division (open repertoire up to 7 minutes)
- $90 for Senior Division (open repertoire up to 9 minutes)
- The application fee payment can be made via Zelle (kma@kmawa.org)

- General Rules
- Entrants must check in 20 minutes before their performance with their accompanist.
- Each contestant is required to provide their own accompanist.
- Every contestant must perform by memory (excludes Chamber performers).
- Each contestant is required to bring one copy of music for the judges.
- All contestants must come warmed up prior to arrival, as there are no practice rooms available.
- Voice contestants: Musical theater selections are not allowed. Pieces should be sung in their original languages. If contestants perform a second piece, please bring a contrasting selection in both style and language.
- Chamber: For piano duo, only four-handed piano is available.
- When the allotted time is finished, judges will stop adjudicating. The judges’ decisions are final and may not be appealed.

- Dr. Yerin Kim: Director of Keyboard Studies and Professor of Piano, Central University of Washington
- Dr. Brendan Shea: Visiting Professor of Violin, Central University of Washington
- Award
- The KMA will release the results of the competition on our website by 8 PM.
- Grand Prize, First, and Second Winners will receive scholarships and awards via mail, and Honorable Mentions will receive awards via email.
- There may be an opportunity for the winner to be invited to perform at an event at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle.
- A Grand prize winner of the entire competition will receive a $500 scholarship award and have the opportunity to perform at KMA’s 45th Annual Concert.
- Each A & B division will be awarded: First Place: $200, Second Place: $100, and Honorable Mentions:
