School Community Council Meeting

September 26, 2016 – Minutes

Attending:

Parent Members - Sadie Cunningham, Shawna Keyte, Katrina Long, Shawna Weaver, Tina Williams, Lisa Woodland – and Principal Mary Wohlforth.

Excused:

Parent Members - Rachel Lawrence, Sara Samuelson, and  Brenda Marsh - Teacher

  1. Introduction of 2016-2017 MES SCC Members – Principal Wohlforth

                     

  1. Election of 2016-2017 MES SCC Leadership

                           Parent members elected by unanimous vote for all positions:

                           Chair – Sadie Cunningham

                           Co-Chair -   Tina Williams

                           Secretary - Sara Samuelson.

  1. School Community Council / School Land Trust Training – Principal Wohlforth led discussion of the resources available on the School Land Trust website, encouraging council members to explore and note questions they may have for discussion.

  1. Set 2016-2017 meeting dates/Overview of topics of discussion – Principal Wohlforth presented a draft plan for SCC for the upcoming year.  The council decided on meeting dates.

  1. Review 2016-2017 School Land Trust Plan for MES – Principal Wohlforth reviewed the 16-17 plan goals.  Noted was the estimated funds, and actual plan funds allocated.  More discussion will be held at the October meeting for possible changes to plan for the increased distribution.
  1. Review of 2016-2017 MES School Improvement Plan(s) (School Improvement, Professional Development, SNAP – Safe Walking Route)  - The council reviewed the proposed and approved the 16-17 School Improvement plan with the note to update the Safe Walking Route.  Tina Williams accepted the responsibility to update the SNAP plan.  Further discussion was held on sidewalks, crossing guards, and concern for student safety walking along the highway south of Mona.
  1. MISC – Parent Members invited to attend the 2016 Fall School Community Council Training.  A flyer and information regarding district transportation was provided to each parent member.
