Meeting Tasting Style
Scottish and Irish Ales
The AHA has published some great recipes for these styles here.
True or False:
Miller Lite is brewed with corn syrup (gasp!) and hop extract.
Green apple aroma, a byproduct of fermentation.
Fermentable material used as a substitute for traditional grains, to make beer lighter-bodied or cheaper.
A drying, puckering taste; tannic; can be derived from boiling the grains, long mashes, over sparging or sparging with hard water.

Meeting Reminder - Consume Responsibly!
Just a reminder that the purpose of our club is to share ideas and homebrews with the goal of improving our own beers and advancing the hobby of homebrewing. During meetings, please make sure to serve yourselves the proper volume. Drinking plenty of water and consuming food (reminder that we can order food in the private room) will help.
Membership Dues - 2019 MEGA membership dues are $25 for an individual or $35 for a family. You can join or renew your membership with any MEGA officer at a club meeting or on the website by clicking the PayPal option on the About Us page. Your dues are an important source of revenue that allows the club to participate in events and bring the joy of homebrewing to those who may not otherwise experience it.
Shelf Ice Brew Fest - This year's Shelf Ice Brew Fest will take place on Saturday, February 16 in Michigan City from noon (VIP entrance) until 5p CST. MEGA will have a booth and will be pouring homebrew. Our sign-up sheet is linked in the Club-Only Events/Competitions section of the MEGA website forum. If you don't have beer to donate but would still like to volunteer, please contact festival coordinator Anna Radtke (radtkeanna [at] gmail.com) and let her know. You must have a valid Indiana pouring permit in order to pour beer, but the festival may also be in need of non-pourer volunteers for other positions.
MEGA Barrel Project - We are in the early stages of planning another barrel project. Stay tuned for details!
The Event Formerly Known as Mayfest - MEGA has a unique opportunity to take over the planning and logistics of the beer festival formerly known as Mayfest, then Mishawaka Festival of Beers. We need to make a decision on this soon to make plans for the 2019 festival.
