All paperwork (including a physical) and fees are due by Friday, August 22!

**All dates are subject to change.  If you print a copy of this schedule, please return to the live document on our website to ensure you have the most current information.**

Cross country is an ideal primary or off-season sport as it builds core strength and conditioning to better prepare students for the demands of other sports, games, and life. Cross country provides a wonderful opportunity for students of all abilities to be part of a team, meet new individual challenges, and create a tougher mindset. Running can be a bit of a love/hate relationship, particularly when you are first starting out. It can be tough! But, that’s part of what makes it so worthwhile!

Athletic Celebration Cross Country Athletes will be recognized at the Athletic Celebration on Friday, October 24 at 2:30 in the WWA Dining Commons.

Cross Country FAQ

  1. What do I wear to practice?

You will need good running/training shoes and comfortable weather-appropriate athletic wear. In the fall, this can mean different kinds of clothing as the weather changes; shorts and a t-shirt when it’s hot and more layers to peel off as the weather gets cooler. You may need dry socks and boots to slip into. Hats and gloves may be needed later in the fall. You’ll want  sunglasses, sunscreen, and a water bottle as well.

  1. Do I need to purchase any specific equipment (knee pads, shin guards, shorts, ball, etc…)?

        Good running/training shoes

  1. What do I do between the end of school and the start of practice at 3:30?

Once school gets out, you will go out of the building to stand/wait with your class during dismissal. Once the coach is ready (usually around 3:30), they will let you in the building to change and get ready for practice.

  1. May I go back to my locker at 3:30 when we go in for practice?

No, you may not go back in to the middle school or intermediate areas to use your locker.

  1. What if I want to go to Homework Club (6th grade) or ZAP (7th and 8th grade) to work on my homework?

Great! Go to those opportunities until they end at 330 and then join your team down in the gym to get ready for practice/the game.

  1. What time do I need to be at the meets?

We will gather at the meets 30 minutes prior to race time.

  1. How do I get to/from away games?

Students must provide their own transportation to/from away games. A carpool list will be

provided to parents if you opted to participate in that on the registration form. Coaches cannot

transport students to/from races.

  1. What is the fee for meets?

There are no fees for meets this year.

  1. Can my sibling stay after school prior to the game, too?

No, any students not playing in that game will not have supervision after 3:30pm, just like a

normal school day. Siblings are allowed to attend the game with parent supervision. 7th and

8th grade students may attend unchaperoned as long as their behavior is appropriate.

  1. What do I do with my uniform after the season is over?

Please make sure your shirt is clean and turn it in to the coach ASAP.
