Important links/Information

• Attendees list - Student Participants and Mentors

Please note: Only participant/mentor names on the above list will be allowed into the venue.

• All adult mentors bring proof of government-issued ID.
• All mentors and students must fill out the RECF waiver form

Mentors and students don't fill out and send in the participant release form, they won't be able to get into the venue.

1. Mentors

• Only one adult mentor is allowed with each registered team.
• All mentors are required to attend the introductory mentor workshop on Day 1 in order to learn and understand the mentors’ roles and responsibilities.

2. Equipment & Safety

• All the required equipment and kits for the workshop will be provided to the participants.
• For your safety, the mentors and participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes.
• Safety goggles will be provided for all attendees to wear while working/interacting with the robots.

3. Girl Powered Badge

• Badges have been pre-printed for everyone in the Participant List. Only the names on the list will be admitted into the Event Space.
• It is mandatory for all attendees to wear the badge at all times for the entire duration of the two-day workshop.
• Please keep the badge safe and bring it with you on Day 2, as new badges won't be issued on Day 2. At the end of Day 2, the badge has to be returned.

4. Girl Powered T-Shirt

• Girl Powered T-Shirts will be handed out during registration on Saturday morning and will be required to be worn on Sunday for an event photo.
• Participants are strongly encouraged to wear Girl Powered T-shirts on Saturday since team souvenir photos (free) can be taken between 3:00-5:00 pm on Saturday at the photo booth in the lobby by a photographer.

2. Workshop Logistics

1. Lunch: Each one of you will be given a lunch ticket that has to be presented at the lunch counter to pick up your preselected box lunch. Please make sure to keep your two lunch tickets safe at all times.  You will not be able to change your lunch preferences on-site since we have limited quantities and need to ensure everyone gets the lunch items they selected during registration. Please note: .If you have any dietary restrictions please bring your own lunch.

Snacks will be provided to the kids in the morning of the day's workshop. Box lunch will be provided to all the participants based on the vegetarian and non-vegetarian option requested.

2. Forming Teams and Lessons: We will have booths from organizations that can help you form teams and continue on your VEX robotics journey after the workshop. Here are the organizations:

Boostrobotics.org is a non-profit organization that offers educators and students the chance to explore competitive robotics. Through guided instruction, participants learn to design, build, and program an introductory competitive robot. For the 2024-25 season "High Stakes," Boost Robotics will offer both virtual and in-person classes. Participants can learn from experts using a model curriculum and gain hands-on experience in building a competitive robot. The 12-week curriculum will build on the proven material that has driven our highly successful program for the past three years. Each week, a ‘meeting’ will be conducted virtually and in person, during which new material will be presented to the students. This will include thorough presentations, pictures, and videos to assist with the building and programming. The initial build is to enable teams to venture into competitions, but the ultimate goal is to ignite their passion for robotics. We hope that in the future they will continue to use the tools they have acquired to build and expand their scope. As a non-profit organization, our content and mentorship are free and will be tailored to the pace of the individual teams participating in the program. For the online program, there will be no fees since individual teams will purchase their parts. For the in-person program, the fee paid to ICC will cover the cost of robot materials, as well as the usage of the venue and field. For more information, contact boostrobotics@gmail.com.

India Community Center (ICC) is a California 501 (c)(3) non-profit dedicated to promoting Indian culture and values by providing social, cultural, recreational, and community programs, thereby uniting the community and raising awareness about Indian culture in the local community. Two years ago ICC launched ICC VEX Robotics for middle and high school students which was supported by boostrobotics.org. Several teams qualified for the State Championship and four teams qualified for the World Championship. What to expect:

• Unleash your inner star: Master the hula hoop, rock the dance floor, or show off your artistic genius with crafts.
• Challenge your mind: Dive into fun puzzles that will amaze you.
• Epic swag alert: Score awesome surprises (we won't spoil it!).

The Girl Powered Booth is more than just robots. It's about empowering you and your friends on and off the robotics challenge floor. Come hang out, relax, explore your talents, and discover what it means to be a Girl Powered leader!

3. Equipment and Kits

• All the required technical items, including robotic kits, laptops, and tools will be provided to use during the workshop. All the items provided for the workshop during Day 1 and Day 2 must be returned at the end of Day 2. Please ensure all items are kept safe and secured.

4. Team Photos

• Day 1: From 3:00-5:00 PM, there will be a professional photographer in the lobby of the building to take pictures of your team with the robot. Please use this opportunity to have a professional photo taken with your robot.
• The photo booth where attendees can take their own photos will be open throughout the day.
• We request that you wear the Girl Powered T-shirt provided when taking the picture. We encourage you to post pictures of the event on social media. Feel free to tag the organizers’ Instagram: @315_paradigm, @IndiaCommunityCenter

5. Lunch, Water, and Snacks

• Lunch, water, and snacks will be provided on both days of the workshop for all participants, volunteers, and mentors. You have pre-selected your lunch to be either Vegetarian or Non-Vegetarian.  
• If you have other special dietary restrictions, please bring your own snacks and lunch.

6. Parking Information Link

• There is limited parking available. Please carpool wherever possible.
• Please do not park in marked parking spots reserved for special guests and speakers.

7. Drop-off and Pick-up

• Drop-off: Please drop off your student between 7:15 AM and 8:15 AM each day. On the first day, please park your vehicle and register your student in person at the registration desk outside of ICC. To avoid long registration lines, please arrive by 7:15 AM.
• Kindly note that there will be a high volume of children in the parking area, particularly during peak hours at the start and end of workshops. This may lead to congestion and unpredictable movement of children. We urge you to exercise extreme caution while driving and parking your vehicle. Your cooperation in ensuring the safety of our young participants is greatly appreciated.
• Pick-up: Pick-up will be between 5:30 PM and 5:45 PM on August 3, 2024 and August 4, 2024.
• Important: The designated group mentor will be responsible for the child. If for any reason you have to pick up your child early, please send an email to girlpowered.robotics.goog@gmail.com and inform the registration desk in advance.
