WEST TEXAS FASTPITCH
PARENT & SPECTATOR CODE OF CONDUCT
1. I agree to represent West Texas Fastpitch in an upstanding manner. If my actions violate the parent & spectator code of conduct, I understand that I could be suspended or removed from attending West Texas Fastpitch events. If an incident occurs, it will be reviewed by the disciplinary board that will follow the disciplinary policies. Please see the West Texas Fastpitch Disciplinary Policies for more information.
2. I will follow City of Amarillo/Canyon ordinances, and facility rules. I will make sure anyone that attends games to watch my child follows these rules and I will be responsible for their actions. I will make sure my child reads and follows the Player Code of Conduct.
2. I understand my role as a parent is to encourage, support, and cheer on my child's team.
3. I agree to encourage and demonstrate good sportsmanship by supporting all players, coaches, and officials. I will exert self control over my emotions. I will avoid public displays of anger, rage, or frustration. I will insist on my child’s respect for rules, officials, and sportsmanship.
4. I agree to treat umpires with respect. I understand that umpires are human and will make mistakes. I understand that an umpire has the authority to eject coaches, players, and parents and end a game in a forfeit if they deem a situation is out of control.
5. I understand that West Texas Fastpitch has a zero tolerance policy in place to protect everyone and provide quality softball in a well policed program.
6. If I am ejected from a game, I will leave the complex immediately. If I’m the only person with my child, I will leave the area of the field. If problems continue, my child will be ejected and we will both have to leave immediately. I understand that if I am ejected, the ejection will be reviewed by the disciplinary board and additional suspensions could be added based on the severity of the incident and how I handled the ejection.
7. I will support my child’s team and coaches. I will not put her coaches down. I understand if my child hears me constantly bad mouth her coaches, it affects her ability to play for them. I will not engage in conversations with other coaches or teams during the season about moving my child to another team.
8. I will make sure that my child is on time with equipment to all practices and games. If she is unable to attend, I will notify the coach as soon as possible. I understand that my child will miss out on important developmental skills when not in attendance and could get reduced play time based on attendance.
9. I will not offer excuses for my child if she is not playing. I will encourage my child to communicate with the coach, work hard, and have a good attitude to earn more playing time. I understand that the league does not mandate playing time, but we do encourage coaches to focus on player development in multiple positions.
10. I will notify the league by email to wtxfastpitchsoftball@gmail.com if there are any problems or concerns with my child’s team as soon as they arise. I will not confront my child's coaches during practices or games to discuss playing time or other coaching decisions. I will wait until the following day to call or email them with concerns.
11. I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free of drugs and alcohol. I will not use tobacco products or alcohol while at practices or games.
12. I will provide positive support, care, and encouragement for my child. I understand that softball is a game based on failure and my child will fail often. I will give positive reinforcement! I will encourage her to play for the love of the game and not a desired outcome.
By completing my child's registration, I agree to follow the parent & spectator code of conduct and will make sure my child follows the player code of conduct.
