Bilingual - ESL
The Department of Bilingual and ESL Programs’ fundamental purpose is to guide our teachers toward best practices that not only serve all students, but that are essential to Emergent Bilinguals (EBs) in order to acquire English and access content learning. Our dedicated efforts will be on implementing the teaching of specific language skills into all core content classes to assist Emergent Bilinguals in their acquisition of English. We will continue the process of implementing a Content-Based ESL Instructional Model in grades Prekindergarten through 4th grade by which classroom expectations are established and monitored. The goal, as we look forward, is to encourage implementation and preparation of teachers at all grade levels through quality professional learning opportunities. Our Dual Language One-Way and Two-Way programs continue to grow and thrive, as we offer students the gift of biliteracy and biculturalism across Conroe ISD. We have also embedded the instructional coaching component within our professional learning model, as we know this is the most effective method of implementing quality instruction. We look forward to continuing to share these powerful instructional practices with more teachers as part of our comprehensive professional learning plan.
