CLUB COMPETITIONS

Each season the club runs a number of competitions that are open to the members.

The finals for most of these competitions are held at the end of the season, usually on the first Saturday in September.

The Captains’ Cup

is a singles knock out competition that is open to all members. Competitors are given a handicap based upon their bowling experience.

The Mens Singles Saberton Trophy  is a singles knockout competition that is open to all men in the club. The trophy was donated by Roy and Anne Saberton.

The Ladies Singles Cup is a singles knockout competition that is open to all ladies in the club.

The 2-4-2 Slights Cup is an open pairs competition, with players alternating between 2 and 4 bowls at a time. The cup was donated by David Slights in 2017.

The Open Pairs

is a pairs competition that is open to all members. The teams are drawn at random in two qualifying rounds. The winners of the two rounds play-off on finals day.

The Mens Pairs

is a pairs competition that is open to all male members. The Competition was first held in 2016 when Corinne and Paul Walsham donated a trophy for the winners.

The Mixed Pairs

is a pairs competition that is open to all members. The competition was first held in 2016 when Margaret White donated a trophy in memory of David Thompson who was a member of Longstanton Bowls Club

The Triples Competition is open to all members. Teams are drawn at random and the team with the highest total score is declared the winner.

The Roger Hart Ladies’ Pairs Trophy

Is a pairs competition that is open to all ladies in the club. The trophy was donated by Ann Hart in memory of her husband Roger, a member of Longstanton Bowls Club. The competition was first played in 2018.

The Westwood & Edwards Trophy, Afternoon League.

Members attending the Thursday afternoon roll-up are awarded points throughout the season. The member with the most points is awarded the Trophy. The trophy was donated by Marion Edwards & Ruth Westwood in 2016.
