This is a tandem-style legacy challenge, which means it plays similarly to rotational gameplay where you need to switch POV’s, and embrace the set up as part of the fun. If you want an instant ‘jump into game’ legacy challenge, then this one is not for you, and there are lots of other great legacy challenges out there. If you’re still interested and seeking a new style of challenge in the Sims 4, and want to step into my world of chaos and control, then you’re definitely in the right place! If you're unfamiliar with tandem-style play in the sims, then please refer to my  tik tok or youtube videos for an explanation, and advice before you proceed!

The focus of this legacy challenge is immersion. By that I mean creating interesting, multi layered sims with meaningful relationships that feel real. I’ve always loved legacy challenges, whether they’re goal-driven, color-coded, or just pure comfort. But I could never quite find one that mirrored how I most like to play: one close-knit group, living in the same world… for generations. Lore that goes deep, and connections that never end! I assume there might be other people out there who think the same as me, and who enjoy this game play style - so naturally I rolled up my sleeves and said fine i’ll do it myself. Now here we are.

In this challenge, I actually encourage you to tune out of the wider Simverse. Don’t stress about fixing every townie who’s decided to borrow your glittery eyeshadow, hat collection, and every accessory possible… or reworking the entire save file (guilty!) Instead, focus on your Sims' immediate circle: family, friends, coworkers. Of course, if you want to build a fully customized world, go for it—but it’s not required.

This is only a 4 generation legacy challenge, and that’s because you will be controlling multiple POV’s per generation! Strap yourself in because you are going to be busy!

Rules

Generation 1 - The Founders

Play as four couples in the Young Adult stage of their life, all living in houses they can afford! They must be neighbours or at least live in the same world, e.g. Windenburg. Feel free to cheat relationships here, for example adding friendships with the other couples (I like to imagine that they all went to high school together!) alternatively you can just play out their relationships and pretend that they were all already friends. Add your own dynamics too, who secretly dislikes who? Who is jealous? I’ll let you decide! I’m not going to micromanage too much! They need to regularly see each other and their children need to grow up together.

Couple 1 - Family Oriented

Sim 1

Aspiration: Big Happy Family

Traits: Family oriented, Creative,

Career: Stay at home parent (but sell your paintings and get that bag!)

Goals

  • Max Painting Skill
  • Max Parenting skill
  • Mentor at least one child in an art skill
  • Regularly play an instrument and sing
  • Order take-out regularly

Sim 2

Aspiration: Big Happy Family

Traits: Family oriented, Romantic, Cheerful

Career: Education

Goals

  •  Reach at least level 5 of the Education career
  • Max parenting skill
  • Always help children with their homework
  • Max baking skill, and regularly gift your goods to people

Couple Goals (lol) to complete

Couple 2 - Career Minded

Sim 1

Aspiration: Successful Lineage

Traits: Overachiever, Snob, Foodie

Career: Law

Goals

  • Max logic skill
  • Never miss a day of work (unless it’s a holiday on the calendar eg winterfest!)
  • Have a home library that you spend most of your time in, alone
  • Choose a random creative hobby that you keep a secret (e.g. knitting, singing, guitar) and reach at least level 5

Sim 2

Aspiration: Fabulously Wealthy

Traits: Self Assured, High Maintenance, Materialistic

Career: Business

Goals

  • Always dress immaculately, not a hair out of place!
  • Have an affair with a colleague that your spouse doesn’t find out about
  • Drink wine regularly
  • Max the fitness skill
  • Start every morning at the gym (eventually build a home gym)

Couple Goals (lol) to complete

Couple 3 - Outdoorsy

Sim 1

Aspiration: Master Chef

Traits: Loves outdoors, Dog Lover, Glutton

Career: Culinary (chef branch)

Goals

  • Max cooking skill
  • Woodworking is your hobby (display some items in your home, sell the others)
  • Never hire a repair sim or replace anything - fix everything yourself!

Sim 2

Aspiration:

Traits: Generous, Clumsy, Vegetarian

Career: Photography (we need to use our imaginations here! You take photos of the outdoors/wildlife etc and sell them to make money.)

Goals

  • Choose one collection to complete
  • Have a pristine garden that you regularly tend
  • Max Photography skill
  • Have an eclectic dress sense - lots of jewellery, clothes that don’t match etc…

Couple Goals (lol) to complete

Couple 4 - The Show Off’s

You present yourself as having more money than you actually do.

Sim 1

Aspiration: Mansion Baron

Traits: Active, Bro, Snob

Career: Athlete

Goals

  • Maintain your prime physical physique
  • Always eat healthy, and don’t forget those protein shakes
  • Max fitness skill
  • Flirt often, but never cheat on your partner
  • Have one enemy

Sim 2

Aspiration: Party Animal

Traits: Jealous, Party Animal, Outgoing

Career: You can’t hold one down. Regularly change careers

Goals

  • Regularly post on social media
  • Go all out for every holiday - decorations, food, clothes etc
  • Have a side hustle
  • Visit the spa often
  • Get fired from at least one job
  • Max dancing + dj skill
  • Say yes to every invitation you get! “Something crazy is going down at the ruins” you’re already on your way*

Generation 2 - The Heirs

This generation sees you playing as four individuals (one child from each of the previous couples - you choose your heir if there are siblings) They should all remain friends throughout their childhood into adulthood. This gen forms two end-game couples whose children will continue the legacy challenge. Ultimately, the goals I’ve included for “the heirs generation” focuses predominately on their childhood and teen years. This is purposeful as you have the most creative control over your sim's adult life in this gen - their aspirations and careers, so see how you feel after raising them!! What kind of sim are they? I have included some details that I believe are important as inherited traits and important for their goals, but the rest is up to you.

Heir 1  (child of couple 1 - family oriented)

You grew up with perfect parents who taught you a lot. They embraced you for being you and you carry this confidence with you throughout life. You excel in your after school clubs, you’re a perfect A* student… that is until you discover that you are pregnant.

Aspiration: ?

Traits: Perfectionist, Creative

Career: ?

Goals

  • Be the perfect child - Max 2 skills
  • Complete any childhood aspiration
  • Reach level 3 of any after school activity as a teen
  • Have a teen pregnancy with Heir 2 after a one night stand but don’t get into an official relationship until you are older, then have one more child.
  • Have positive relationships with your parents + siblings

Heir 2 “The Rebel” (child of couple 2 - career minded)

You grow up knowing that your parents are in a loveless marriage. All you want to do is get out of that house! You spend a lot of time with your friends, but you also love to cause mischief. Deep down all you want is to feel love, and be loved!

Aspiration: Soulmate

Traits: Hot headed

Career: ?

Goals

  • Achieve A’s in school as a child, then lose interest as a teen
  • Get expelled from school as a teen
  • Complete the ‘live fast’ aspiration as a teen
  • Max the mischief skill
  • Spend barely any time in your house when growing up and move out as soon as you can!
  • Reach at least level 6 of any musical instrument
  • Have a teen pregnancy with Heir 1 after a one night stand but don’t get into an official relationship until you are older, then have one more child.

Heir 3 “The Prodigy” (child of couple 3 - outdoorsy)

Your parents taught you everything you know, and you grew up with a love for food. All you have ever dreamed of is becoming a chef - you can’t wait for school to be over, so that you can pursue your dream. You and Heir 4 are a power couple throughout your teens, and it stays that way forever. You marry young but have children later in life after building your empire first!

Aspiration: Master Chef

Traits: Foodie, Loyal

Career: Culinary (but then quit when you’re a business owner!)

Goals

  • Watch cooking shows as a child
  • Max the cooking skill before adulthood
  • Max the gourmet cooking skill
  • Have at least one child with heir 4
  • Open a restaurant in honour of your parents in the local town. You could even name it after them ;)

Heir 4 (child of couple 4 - the show off’s)

Your parents gave you everything you could ever want - this includes a whole streaming set up when you are young! You plunge into the world of influencing and you are chronically online! You and Heir 3 are a power couple throughout your teens, and it stays that way forever. You marry young but have children later in life after building your empire first!

Aspiration: ?

Traits: Outgoing, Ambitious

Career: Influencer

Goals

  • Regularly vlog
  • Have at least one child with heir 3
  • Renovate a huge house and live a lavish lifestyle

Generation 3 - The Besties

This gen sees you playing as two individuals (one child from each of the previous couples - the heir should not be the teen pregnancy child as there will be an age gap, it’s essential these sims grow up together!) They are inseparable! However, they have very different goals in life: one wants to be free and travel whilst the other wants to study at university and get on the career ladder. Once you become young adults, you should remain in contact but live separately and not see each other until you are adults and both back in your home town. Then you become inseparable once again, and raise your children together.

 

Bestie 1 (child of heirs 1+2)

Your household is full of love and warmth. Your older sibling was a trial run for your parents… so they’re practically perfect to you! Your house is full of laughter, chaos, and melt downs over cereal. It’s cosy, it’s chaotic but it’s yours. You learn important life lessons from your parents and their own experiences. They don’t hide anything from you, but you watch your older sibling move out and grow up before your eyes and you can’t help but wish that was you. You wish you were older, and you wish you could be free. You spend your time plotting life with your bestie, and dreaming about other countries. As soon as you leave school, your bag is packed and off you go.. This will make you happy, right?

Aspiration:

Traits: Adventurous

Career: ?

Goals

  • Have a part time job as a teen and save money to travel.
  • Vacation in at least 3 different worlds with different climates, for at least 4 sim days at a time. Change your outfits and aesthetics to match the place!
  • Reach the top of mt Komorebi once
  • Max wellness skill
  • Fall in love whilst on your travels
  • Return to your home town with a partner + a baby
  • Complete the simmi capsule collection
  • Have your partner die after you’re married (sorry!! You can choose their death though lol!)
  • Only have one child

Bestie 2 (child of heirs 3+4)

You grew up with extremely successful parents in a household of high stakes and high stress. Sadly this wrecks your nervous system and you like to escape by going to your bestie's house! Their parents become like second parents to you, but you still want to impress your parents more than anything. You study hard and commit to a studious life path with a carefully thought out five year plan. You’ll study, get a good job, get married, have children and then retire and die happy… right? This will make you happy, right? This is how you will make them proud - right?

Aspiration: Renaissance Sim

Traits: Good

Career: ?

Goals

  • Move to Britechester for your studies, and don’t return home until a year after graduation (graduate + continue to live in britechester for a year whilst working)
  • You should initially work a part time job after your studies e.g. barista whilst you ‘figure out what you want to do’
  • Achieve at least a B at University
  • Return to your home town feeling lost and move back into your family home. On your first night back, you go to a bar… and get pregnant after a one night stand. Never contact that sim again and don’t ever tell them about the baby.
  • Volunteer regularly
  • Complete your aspiration
  • Only ever have one child

Generation 4 - Enemies to Lovers

This gen sees you playing as two individuals (the only children of the bestie generation!) These two should be enemies to lovers coded so interpret + play that however you would like!

You grew up together, surrounded by an ever-present extended family. Your parents were the best of friends: constant dinners, holidays, parties, and trips. It was all a little unconventional, but you loved the feeling of being part of a bigger family. However… you cannot stand each other. There’s a deep-rooted tension between you: constant bickering, sarcastic remarks, and pranks pulled just to get under each other’s skin.

The eventual relationship should feel earned so seriously, take your time! Let the romance develop gradually as they overcome their differences, and build up the tension! That is the most fun part.

Lover 1 (child of bestie 1)

After the death of one of your parents, just after you attended their wedding. You swore to never fall in love. It’s a curse!

Aspiration: ?

Traits: Gloomy, socially awkward

Career: ?

Goals

  • Reverse one negative trait through gameplay
  • Keep a diary
  • Max writing skill
  • Have one other serious relationship that fails, lover 2 should have a negative relationship with them
  • Be in the chess team as a teen
  • Sing in private until you max the skill, then begin performing in bars and making money
  • Max the singing skill

Lover 2 (child of bestie 2)

You were raised to not take life too seriously. Being raised by a single parent made you strong, and you can’t stand anyone who likes to complain all the time! You like to crack on, and crack a joke!

Aspiration: ?

Traits: Cheerful, goofball

Career: Entertainer

Goals

  • Be in the drama club as a teen
  • Have a phase as a teen (e.g. goth/artsy/sporty)
  • Max comedy skill
  • Have one other serious relationship that fails, lover 1 should have a negative relationship with them
  • Build a rocket ship just for fun
  • Maintain a close relationship with your parent
