Terms and Conditions of The Energeia Project

 The purpose of the project is to enable women to become confident, engaged, knowledgeable, skilled, and well-networked entrepreneurs, as well as to develop the Energeia Community of Practice, facilitating innovation and growth at both the individual and organizational level. The Energeia Project is founded by the Nasdaq Philanthropic Foundation in cooperation with Central European University.

§1. General provisions

  1. These terms and conditions govern the organization of the initiative led under the name of - “The Energeia Project: Transforming Female Entrepreneurship in Central and Eastern Europe” (hereinafter referred to as the “Programme”). By entering a Programme, entrants (hereinafter “you”, “your” etc.) agree to be bound by these Terms.
  2. By entering the Programme, you hereby warrant that all information submitted by you is true, current and complete.
  3. The Programme is organized by the Startup Hub Poland Foundation (hereinafter ‘Organizer’) with its office at Senatorska 2 St., Warsaw, Poland, entered into the register of associations kept by the District Court for the capital city of Warsaw in Warsaw, XIII Commercial Division of the National Court Register, under KRS number 0000433935, REGON 146312580, NIP 5213637149.
  4. The Programme's Strategic Partner and grant founder is Nasdaq Philanthropic Foundation Inc Rockville, Md 20850-6162, Ein: 52-1864429) (hereinafter: Partner).

§2. Definitions

  1. Applicant – means a person eligible to submit the Programme’s application. Eligible candidates are women holding Polish or Hungarian citizenship, as well as Ukrainian Refugees.
  2. Application Form – an application form available on the website that enables Applicant to declare its willingness to be a part of the Programme by submitting it in the electronic form via the hereinabove website.
  3. Participant  – means the Applicant that has been qualified to the Programme.
  4. Project – innovative, competitive solution that Applicant wishes to develop during The Energeia Project.
  5. Evaluation Committee - a group of experts from Startup Hub Poland Foundation evaluating the candidates.
  6. Demo Day  –  the final of The Energeia Project, during which Participants pitch their projects to Jury Members. The best participant is awarded with The Energeia Award for Women in Entrepreneurship that amounts to 1000 USD.

§3. Programme

  1. The Organizer will invite 200 chosen Participants to participate in The Energeia Project, which will be accessible on a special educational platform.
  2.  The Energeia Projecis led in a hybrid format, with the majority of the workshops being held fully online.
  3. The Programme is divided into three tiers:
  1. Tier I - 200 Female Entrepreneurship from Poland, Hungary & Ukrainian Refugees participate in a set of live sessions with inspirational speakers. Participants will be guided through the entrepreneurial life cycle as they develop essential skills for business success.. Tiere I Programme delivers access to finance, markets, networks, and know-how. The Programme hosts 1) Energeia Community of Practice and 2) Automated Curriculum:
  1. Community of Practice: The project establishes a community of practice for female entrepreneurship to connect, inspire and support, linking participants across Hungary, Poland and Ukraine. Through a peer-learning process and virtual forums, remote workshops, innovation mixers, bi-weekly online live sessions with experts and inspirational speakers, the Energeia Community of Practice will establish a lasting support system and knowledge-sharing platform for participating female entrepreneurs to address the challenges they face.
  2. Automated Curriculum: containing 2 modules: essential skills for entrepreneurship: 6 sessions of psychological coaching to boost confidence and self-belief among participants, and 8 sessions in which participants develop an understanding of the entrepreneurial life cycle, how to first identify promising concepts, and the journey from ideation to profit. Participants will submit a business plan for their own start-up by the end of this module.
  1. Tier II - 16 Participants will be able to move on Tier II (project incubation). During this tier, Participants attend two online bootcamps and onsite investor speed coaching.
  2. Tier III - 8 Participants move on to Tier III, which is devoted to a live event (Demo Day) held in Warsaw. During the Demo Day 8 Participants pitch their projects to Jury Members. The best participant is awarded with The Energeia Award for Women in Entrepreneurship that amounts to 1000 USD.
  1. Only selected participants showing progress are able to move on to the next phase.
  2. There are stage gate evaluations between each of the tiers, at which participants are evaluated. The evaluation criterias are based on the Project’s commercialization potential and/or technological disruption potential.

§4. Qualifying Entrants

  1. Women holding Polish or Hungarian citizenship, as well as Ukrainian Refugees who are willing to develop their entrepreneurial Project alongside  The Energeia Projecmentors are eligible to apply.
  2. Submitting an application is entirely free of charge.
  3. The number of entries per person is unlimited. Incomplete or indecipherable entries will be void.
  4. Entrants wishing to submit the application must complete the Application Form indicating their personal details with a valid description of their Project. The Application Form is available at 

  1. The information provided to the Organizer through Application Form is the sole basis for assessment of the application submitted by the Project’s holder.

§4. Selection process

  1. Due to the limited number of places (200 Participants) the participation in Tier I is dependent on the time of submitted Application Form. At this stage the recruitment is carried out until the limit number of places is reached. However, in  the circumstances that the Organizer receives a significant amount of applications, applications will be selected according to the point 2 §4.
  2. Process of selecting final Participants that will be able to move onto the Tier II and Tier III of Energeia Project includes the following stages;
  1. Stage 1 consists of evaluating the Project’s commercialization potential and/or technological disruption potential that refers to a technology whose implementation significantly affects the way a market or industry is functioning right now. If applicable, at this stage submitted business plans (created in Tier I) will be evaluated.
  2. Stage 2 is devoted to choosing the final Participants out of Projects selected during preliminary evaluation.
  1. The Organizer reserves the right to request additional information from the Applicants in order to supplement the formal deficiencies of the application or analysis parameters with information necessary for further qualification and the right to finish the selection process before the deadline. If the requested information is not submitted, the application will be evaluated on the basis of information provided by the Applicant.
  2. Decisions regarding the qualification or rejection of the application for further selection stage or participation in the program are final and are not subject to further verification.

§6. Awards

  1. The Energeia Award for Women in Entrepreneurship amounts to 1000 USD.
  2. The cash prize will be paid out to the Demo Day winner by the Organizer within 30 days after signing an Agreement between the winner and the Organizer, where the winner indicates a bank account and provides the necessary data.
  3. The prizes will be decreased by the due income tax, paid by the Organiser.
  4. Participants of the Competition are not entitled to claim any exchange of the awarded prize for another Prize.

§5.  Intellectual property

  1. By accepting these Terms and Conditions, the Applicant declares and warrants that their Project (or with their participation), both as a whole and as each of its elements, does not infringe the rights of third parties, including the right to image protection, personal and property copyrights, rights arising from inventions, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, geographical indications and integrated circuit topography.
  2. By submitting the Application Form, submitter grants rights to the Organizer only for purposes related to the organization and promotion of the Programme, free of charge and unlimited in time license to use all elements of the Project, including in particular the logo, designation of the website or other designation identifying the given Project or its creators.

§6. Responsibilities

  1. The Participant is solely responsible for any damages resulting from their failure to comply with the legal provisions or the provisions of these Terms and Conditions, including damaged property entrusted for use during the program.
  2. Organizer  has the right to exclude a Participant from the program if:
  1. The Participant does not comply with the provisions of these Terms and Conditions
  2. The Participant is under the influence of alcohol or intoxicants during any meetings or activities organized within the Program.
  3. The Participant's behavior otherwise violates good manners or principles of social coexistence.
  1. The Organizer's decision to exclude the Participant from the Program is final and is not subject to further verification.

§7. Processing of personal data

  1. Personal Data obtained in the recruitment process for the Program via the Application Form published on the website  as well as during participation in the Programme, will be processed by the controller (Startup Hub Poland). Information regarding data processing:
  1. The Controller of all data provided by the submitters and Participants is Startup Hub Poland Foundation.
  2. The Controller can be contacted via email at
  1.  Startup Hub Poland will process the following data of the Participants:
  1. data provided in the recruitment process to the program, in particular in the recruitment form (name, surname, email, social media profile) or during the recruitment interview (if necessary),
  2. data provided during the program being carried out.
  1. Startup Hub Poland processes the data provided to him based on:
  1. legitimate interest, which is: enabling Participants to recruit for the program and participate in it, enabling the program to be carried out; publication of information about Participants;
  2. document archiving;
  3. additional consent, expressed by checking the appropriate checkboxes next to the recruitment form, in order to: send marketing content and commercial information via the e-mail address provided in the recruitment form.
  1. Gathered data may be transferred to the following categories of entities:
  1. subcontractors – i.e. entities that we use for data processing, with whom we have concluded a contract for entrusting the processing of personal data, e.g. our hosting service provider, entities providing IT support services for us, CRM data processing software supplier, subcontractors involved in the organization and carrying out of the program;
  2. Programme Partners – being a separate controller of this data,
  1. Data will be stored until the completion of the Programme, and after that time - for the period required by law and until the end of the limitation period for claims arising from the Programme being carried out or if a separate additional consent has been expressed - until it is withdrawn or the goal covered by this consent is achieved;
  2. You have the right to:
  1. access your data and receive its copy;
  2. rectify (correct) your data if it is incorrect or outdated, as well as the right to delete it in the event that the processing of data is not carried out in order to fulfill the obligation arising from a legal provision or in the exercise of public authority;
  3. restrict or object to data processing;
  4. withdraw the consent at any time - when we process data based on consent. It's important to remember that: withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of the processing we have carried out on the basis of consent before its withdrawal.
  5. lodge a complaint to the supervisory authority, both in Poland (to the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, helpline: 606 950 000) and in the EU Member State of your habitual residence workplace or alleged violation.

  2. Providing personal data is voluntary, but necessary to recruit or participate in the Programme.

§9 Personal image release

  1. Each Project’s holder declares that they agreed to have recorded-on photos and video materials in relation to the Programme, which may be shared, distributed, displayed and processed or otherwise disseminated free of charge by Startup Hub Poland, as well as third parties involved in the Programme.
  2. The declaration above applies to the usage by Startup Hub Poland, as well as third parties involved in the Programme of the recorded-on photos and video materials for the commercial, marketing, promotional and other related activities, in particular the electronic and printed labeled materials (i.e. brochures, fliers, folders, reports, internal publicity), materials shared via internet and intranet websites, mass-media activities along with the other HR and corporate communication-related purposes of the materials shared via the electronic sites and in printed forms, at any time and in any place within the Poland’s borders and abroad.
  3. The above consent also includes the use of fragments of photographs, reducing their resolution and compression.
  4. Applicants will procure that each individual or a team member declares that the right to grant permits for the dissemination of their image is not limited by the third party rights.

§8. Final provisions

  1. The Terms and Conditions come into force on the day of the announcement.
  2. In cases not regulated in the Terms and Conditions, the provisions of Polish law shall apply.
  3. These Terms and Conditions are available on the  website. 
  4. Organizer  reserves the right to change the Terms and Conditions.
  5. Organizer reserves the right to change the date, time and location of the event due to technical or organizational needs by announcing such change.
  6. In particularly justified circumstances causing the inability to carry out the The Energeia Projec, Organizer reserves the right to cancel the event.
