International Solidarity Letter – Calling on the United States to Ratify the UNCRC and Stop Endangering Children in Conflict

To the Government and People of the United States of America:

We, members of the international community, write to express our deep concern and collective call to action regarding two critical failures that have far-reaching consequences for children and civilians around the world:

  1. The United States remains the only country on Earth that has not ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
  2. Recent unilateral military actions — including the bombing of Iranian nuclear sites — risk global destabilization and harm to innocent lives.

To the American People:

Most Americans do not know this truth:

Your government never ratified the UN Rights of the Child.

This silence has global consequences. It weakens efforts to protect children from war, trafficking, abuse, and exploitation. It makes it harder for the world to hold perpetrators accountable — and easier for violence to continue unchecked.

But you have the power to change that.

 Here’s how you can act:

Call or write your U.S. Senators and Representatives

“I am calling on you to support the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and to publicly oppose war actions that endanger innocent children and civilians.”

Demand a full Congressional review of recent military actions, including the bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities, and demand restoration of Congress’s authority over war powers.

Share this truth with others. The more people who know, the more pressure builds.

 From the World, With Respect:

We urge the United States — its people and its leaders — to stand with the rest of humanity and say:

Children are not expendable. Their rights are not optional. And peace must not be postponed.

It is time to ratify the UNCRC and to stop policies of war that place the lives of children and civilians at risk.

We stand with the people of the United States who are rising for justice, peace, and love.

In unity and hope,

But that ends now.

Dear [Representative/Senator’s Name],

I am writing to you as a citizen of Smithville, Texas, a lifelong child advocate, educator, and international peacebuilder, to urge you to take immediate, morally courageous action on two critical fronts:

  1. To finally ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)
  2. To stop the escalation of U.S.-led warfare, including the recent bombing of Iranian nuclear sites under former President Donald Trump

 1.

Ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

The United States is the only country in the world that has failed to ratify the UNCRC. This is not a symbolic omission — it is a catastrophic moral failure that continues to send a global signal that children’s rights are negotiable.

While the rest of the world has committed to upholding the rights of children to be protected, nurtured, and heard, the U.S. has left a dangerous legal vacuum that:

We are now witnessing the result: an explosion of child murder, trauma, trafficking, and suffering around the world, from Gaza to Sudan to our own border facilities.

I call on you to support the full ratification of the UNCRC and to publicly champion it as a moral obligation of the United States.

 2.

Stop Escalation of War and Hold Trump Accountable

The recent airstrikes ordered by Donald Trump on Iranian nuclear sites mark a dangerous precedent for unchecked executive military action. These strikes could trigger devastating retaliation and pull our nation — and the world — deeper into senseless violence.

Our country must not become a launching pad for wars rooted in ego and ideology, especially when they:

I urge you to:

 In Closing

The children of this world are not political collateral.

They are sacred lives. And the world is watching how the United States responds — or remains silent.

I respectfully ask you to act with conviction, clarity, and compassion.

Your constituents, your conscience, and history will remember your choices.

Thank you for your time and leadership.
