Lead Characters

Robin Locksley

Formerly known as Robin Hood, he has been in hiding after his daring escape from prison following the burning of Sherwood. He is beaten, downtrodden, and simply wants to fade into obscurity. He is, however, compelled to stay behind even though the Merry Men have left; perhaps just to keep an eye on John’s lackeys.

Lucina De Notte

The headstrong daughter of the late Sheriff of Nottingham, Lucina is desperate to overthrow John as a tyrant. Rejected by the nobility and scorned by the peasantry, she walks outside of the societal world, blending in as needed to either world. She is brash and hotheaded, traits inherited from her father, and she is desperate to find Robin and enlist him to her cause.

King John II

Now King after the passing of his brother, Richard, John has sought to wipe his brother’s memory from the history books. After losing a most important battle in Northern France, he is back home, trying to prove to his court that he is still the powerful monarch he believes he is, with his quick temper swaying their trust.

Sir/Dame Guy of Gisborne

John’s right hand after wrenching power from the late Sheriff of Nottingham, Sir/Dame Guy wields their position with great authority and cruelty. Nobles are easily lied to, peasants are easily crushed with sheer power. They are the peacekeeper in the court for John and often redirect their Lord’s anger to a more productive task.

Lord Ivanhoe

A former knight under the command of Richard during the crusades, Ivanhoe has enjoyed the pleasantries of his retirement to his fiefdom. Now taking care of his duties as Lord of an estate, he has been keeping a close eye on John’s cruel acts against the people. He longs for the time of peace when Richard was King and treats all peoples, regardless of their birth or station, with kindness and equality.

White Side

Townspeople

Angus the Butcher

Proud of their skill with a knife, Angus used to serve both peasants and nobility with their goods, believing that good food was a right for all. Ever since John became King however, he levied taxes on non-nobility purchasing meat. This has led Angus to do their best to assist the People as much as possible; trimming more than necessary from the Noble’s steaks and handing it out for free in the dead of night.

Annie and Clarabel

Milkmaids of Hoggetowne, they help Beau make and sell dairy products from the Vine family farm. Annie is a consummate saleswoman and touts the health benefits of drinking at “least” a gallon of milk a day. Clarabel is a cheese connoisseur and is trying her best to recreate the famous cheeses of the world with good English milk.

Beau Vine

The cattle farmer of Hoggetowne, Beau has honed his skills working on his farm, and can often be seen either herding cows or wrestling any and all comers outside the alehouse. Despite his size and strength, Beau is a gentle, laid-back man who has trouble giving it his all on weaker opponents and doesn't worry about winning or losing so long as each party is having fun.

Bobby R. Wynn

Crikey, this young man is following in his father's footsteps and showcasing the wild and dramatic animal world! He's got a trusty stick for poking creatures from a safe distance to display their aggressive behaviors, allowing him to provide public service announcements on how to stay alive in the medieval jungle of Hoggetowne.

Chandler the Candlemaker

The best candlemaker in the land, and they're gonna let everyone know it. Quick to temper and fiery passionate about lighting, they oddly wax poetic about the calm they feel while actually making candles.

Christopher/Christine the Stable Hand

Christopher thinks that horses are definitely better than people. People are just liars and cheaters, horses just go where the mood takes them. Always seen talking to horses as if they can understand him, munching on carrots.

Dee Vine

The sister or wife [depending on casting] of Beau Vine, Dee is a gloriously strong woman who has a no-nonsense attitude toward farming, often leading to disagreements with Beau, but there’s never any lingering resentment. She’s quick to forgive anyone who sincerely apologizes.

Eunice the Tavernkeep

An imposing woman, Eunice is used to breaking up fights with patrons over arguments in her tavern, either with a stern look or her booming celtic brogue. While others may fight, everyone respects Eunice and when she talks, you listen. She is also very sympathetic to Robin’s plight, often letting him rest in her tavern at no cost, or duck behind the barrels when he needs to hide.

Hermey Mallard the Barber

A barber obsessed with the new science of “dentistry,” they’ve been very popular ever since they mentioned that they were in charge of Guy’s retainers. They’re not entirely sure why pulling a noble’s teeth would result in such attention, but it brings more customers. Lectures others on the importance of good dental hygiene, even though most think it’s a load of nonsense.

Indigo Magenta

An artist whose father, a painter, was killed by a noble who was disparaged by his (accurate) unsightly portrayal. Indigo has sworn to get revenge, even going so far as to learn swordplay by night from other nobles as payment for their artwork. (Bonus points if the noble has six fingers.)

Jasper the Simple Villager

A Hoggetowne resident with questionable navigational awareness, Jasper plies their trade in the dead of night. For some reason they seem suspicious, but really, they are just a simple villager.

John Little

A local farmer who has a soft spot for those agitating for a better tomorrow. Despite consistently good yields, he never makes much profit due to giving so much to the poor. Rumors swirl that he was once a legendary fighter, but he never hears well when someone asks him about it.

Lavender the Washerwoman

Quick to gossip, she knows all the “dirty” secrets in Hoggetowne. She makes sure to spread them all over town, and usually gets it further from the truth with each retelling. With her roommate, Mint, they’ve managed to make quite a nice life for themselves while helping clean their little corner of the world. She’s always surrounded by bubbles.

Lupo the Traveler

A traveler from a far and distant culture known only as The Old Country, Lupo is the son of a shepherd and ferociously proud of it.  He is a hard-working, friendly, and upbeat person, and yet at the same time has very unusual mannerisms.  Lupo quite enjoys regaling anyone in earshot with tales of life back home, and finding new and strange ways to share his unconventional customs. Lupo values hard work more than anything else and despises the (in his eyes) lazy English nobility.

Mint the Washerwoman

Lavender’s roommate. She’s much quieter than her dear friend, but shares her love of gossip. Being so quiet, she overhears lots of conversations that she relays in hushed tones to Lavender who then spreads it to the other women in the village. With her roommate, they’ve managed to make quite a nice life for themselves, all while helping keep their little corner of the world clean. Always seems to be surrounded by bubbles…

Moira/Moore the Miller’s daughter/son

Child of Mo(e), they run the flour delivery route for their father. They also inherited their Father’s passion for justice and they were the first to team up with Lucina, helping her hide in the mill after Lucina’s father died. When not running around with a flour sack over their back, they’re helping Lucina keep an eye out for nobles causing trouble.

Mo/Moe the Miller

Mo(e) has taken over the milling business from their father, but still holds the Merry Men in their heart. Always covered in flour, Mo(e) uses their interactions with all to ensure people are aware when Guy’s Retainers are coming into town. They also use their flour delivery route as a way to smuggle both information and money to those who need it.

Paul Helmsly the Hunter

Searching for the ultimate camouflage, they are intrigued but annoyed with those at Hoggetowne who only commit halfway to wearing the “colors of the forest.” Although he married into a wealthier family, he never seems to be able to hang his boots up.

Stephanie LeVesque [Pronounced Lə-veck]

Born to a wealthy French family, Stephanie is a “pine tree Princess” who, while capable of taking care of herself, graciously, allows her husband to provide for the family. Born with a silver spoon, she is trying (and failing) to prove herself to her new English neighbors who chuckle at her extravagant tastes.

Thomas/Thomasina Morrow

A kooky scientist/inventor, rambling on about their latest invention. They are fascinated by the newfangled, push-powered carriages for young children, which he has dubbed “littlepeoplemovers” [strollers]. Often seen analyzing the latest model and complimenting the young lords or ladies for their well-behaved servants [parents].

These kids needed a hero and, finding none, pretended to be them instead.

Donna

de la Troy

Rebelling against societal norms from the beginning, Donna wanted to be a warrior ever since she could walk. Taken in by a group of spinster women (Amaz, Onsof, Themys, & Cira, if you must know) who lived as outcasts on the edge of sherwood, Donna learned how to hunt and ride, proving herself a formidable member of the Justice Leaves. She longs to prove herself to her older “sister” and holds herself with a seriousness in social protocols.

Jonah Kent

The son of a farmer, Jonah learned from his dad that the only way to live was Truth, Justice, and the English way. To fight these injustices, Jonah has assumed the role of leader of the Justice Leaves. He is perfect in every way, and is the kind to help little old ladies with their purchases and get lost kitties out of trees.

Wallace West

“Wally” has gotta go fast. ALL. THE. TIME. He is energy in its purest form and when he’s not bouncing off the walls, he’s eating massive amounts to sustain his high octane antics. He’s mainly the guy used by the team for distractions as he can always run away from Guy’s Retainers.

Jessie Cross

Spunky and creative, Jessie is the team’s fabricator, ensuring that the team has whatever they need to lay traps for Black Siders. Green is her absolute favorite color, but she has an unnatural fear of all things yellow…

Hua Ping (Pronounced HHWaa Pih-NG)

Billie/Billy the Soothsayer

A prominent member of John’s court and advisor to the King.  Funnily enough, their predictions are rarely outlandish, more like narrating seconds before something happens. not for any one monarch so long as the monarchy maintains the

feudal system that allows them to climb the social ranks.

Lady Ebony

The highest-ranking noble of The Immortals, Lady Ebony wears all-black mourning garb to honor her late husband. No one remembers his title or even his name, but she has been a fixture in court for so long that few question her presence. Any inquiries are met with theatrical hysterics, as she IS CLEARLY DISTRAUGHT, how could you be so insensitive?!?!

(Edge)Lord Dark’ness

The attendant to Lady Ebony, "Lord Dark'ness" has operated under a pseudonym for so long that she barely remembers her actual name. Adopted as a young thief, Lord Dark'ness has allegedly been seen near nobles who suffered untimely demise soon after, but no concrete proof is ever produced.

Lord/Lady

de Mentia (Pronounced day-men-TEE-uh)

Lady Raven

The Songbird of The Immortals, Lady Raven excels at information gathering as well as discreetly spreading scandalous rumors and misinformation. She appears imposing but that appearance is a facade; other nobles feel like trusted confidants when she warmly greets them.

Lady Way

Wife of Way Scarlett, she is even more cutthroat than Way is when he's incensed. Often enacts any public-facing plans The Immortals concoct.

Earl Way Scarlett

The current Earl of Lancashire, Way Scarlett shadowed his older brother, Will, at court. Nobles would often remark, upon seeing the two of them scurry around, "Where there's a Will, there's a Way." He holds Robin responsible for his brother's ‘irresponsible’ life choices and disgraces.

Jean Silver

(‘Phoenicia’)

Jean is the product of an arranged marriage between a French aristocrat and a minor English noble. She has a brilliant mind and remains cool and collected even in high-stress situations… usually. Her anxieties manifest in an alternate personality she calls Phoenicia, who will violently lash out at the nearest target without warning.

Katherine ‘Kat’ Pryde

True to her name, Kat loves cats. She loves all animals, really, but cats most of all. As she’s the youngest student of the Xander Academy, the other students sometimes treat her like a toddler, which always annoys her.

Curt Krawler

An exchange student from the German ‘School for Highly Intelligent and Eventually Legendary Deutschlanders,’ Curt is a quiet child who doesn’t speak much. Some interpret this as shyness, but he just doesn’t want to waste time talking for the sake of talking.

Tempest

Claude/

Claire

Xander

The headmaster/headmistress of the Academy who tolerates little tomfoolery and even less tardiness. They are fiercely protective of their students and will show no mercy to the poor soul that threatens them.

Ivanhoe’s Defectors

NOTE: These Black Side Nobles join the White Side at the end of Board 2.

William of Scarlett, Lord of Manchester Castle

After a troubled young adulthood, William has retreated to his noble family’s castle. He is sullen and cantankerous, always complaining about King John and his oppression of commoners and nobles alike. Greatly dislikes that his younger brother, Way, holds previous events over him like a black cloud that never dissipates.

Saer de Quincy, 1st Earl of Winchester

Saer de Quincy is one of the more prominent voices of dissent in John’s court. Allied with Ivanhoe & William Marshall, he codified what a ruler should be doing to take care of their people. Quill in hand, he hopes that his words can prevent another war…

William Marshall

William Marshall, Earl of Pembroke, is a model knight. He gained fame by winning tournaments across the continent before making a bigger name for himself via wartime heroics. Though he despairs at how King John treats the English people, he cannot forsake his vows of knighthood, trying to do good work from within a corrupt system.

Sub-faction: The Emerald Islanders

Hailing from the shores of Ireland, these quirky nobles from across the (smaller) pond are here to keep tabs on “so-called Lord of Ireland” John. They are fiercely loyal to each other.

Taoiseach

Taoiseach (pronounced TEA-shuh) is the leader of the group. They like to sit around and let their right hand, Bodhrán, do the dirty work. This often comes at the expense of Bodhrán’s dignity.

Bodhrán

As Taoisech’s right hand, Bodhrán (pronounced BAH-run or BOW-ron) is stoic and tight as the drum for which they are named. This leads to much teasing in the group as they tend to take things a bit too seriously.

Uilleann

The offspring of a brutal noble, Uilleann (pronounced ILL-en) is a no-nonsense and physically imposing kind of person who tries — and fails, repeatedly — to hide their generous nature and kind heart. After their father’s death, they were taken in by Ceann, who strives to bolster Uillean’s kind nature.

Ceann

The quiet one of the group, Ceann (pronounced key-ANN) spends most of the time playing peace-keeper, mainly between Uilleann (their adopted ward) and Bodhran. He also pines longingly for his homeland.

Glas Mór

Glas Mór (pronounced just like “Glass More”) is the smallest of the Emerald Islanders, but make that observation at your own peril. Glas Mór is a feisty fighter, smart as a whip, and seen by the other Islanders as a future leader.
