Kekaulike Earns Kaimana Award

Kekaulike High School was named the recipient of the 2015-16 Kaimana Award by HMSA yesterday at the Hawaii Convention Center. The Kaimana Award is awarded to one Division 1 school in Maui for recognition based upon excellence in academics, athletics, community service, healthy activities, and sportsmanship. Congratulations to the entire Na Alii 'ohana!

Na Alii Place At States

Congratulations to Kekaulike Tracksters Alexis Henderson, 8th place Shot Put and Eden Mackinnon, 7th place 3000 Meter Run at Kamehameha-Kapalama this past weekend's HHSAA State Championships. Na Alii Judoka Colby Hanley, Jr. placed 5th overall and Alyssa Fusato and Deedra Fabella placed 4th overall at the HHSAA Judo State Championship on Saturday at UH's Stan Sheriff Center. Mahalo to all coaches and State competitors and placers for proudly representing Kekaulike.

Na Alii Volleyball Bounce Back With Win

After last night's loss to Mililani, our Kekaulike Volleyball team got back on track defeating Kahuku in today's consolation semi finals. Our Na Alii will face the winner of the Kamehameha-Kapalama/Lahainaluna for 5th place overall tomorrow at 12:30 at the Blaisdell Center. Good luck!

Na Alii Volleyball Signs Again

After three of Kekaulike's girls volleyball members signed letters of acceptance this year, the boy's Don Thompson joined the ranks of Na Alii scholarship awardees, signing his letter of intent to play for Emmanuel College in Georgia next spring. Don is the fourth Kekaulike volleyball player this year to accept a scholarship. Congratulations!

Na Alii Judoka claim Individual Crowns

Alssa Fusato claimed the gold in the 129 division, Hiialo Palakiko and Deedra Fabella claimed silver and bronze in the 139 division, and Mackenzie Tanner claimed a bronze in the 109 division. On the boys side, Colby Hanley, Jr., Chris Sobaje, and Keanini Aarona claimed gold in the 114, 161, and 198 division. Both teams finished 4th overall. Congratulations and good luck at State.

Na Alii Baseball Wins MIL Tourney Opener

Our Na Alii Baseball team came back from a 5 run deficit to win MIL Tournament opener against Lahainaluna tonight. A walk off single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave our Na Alii a 5-6 victory. Kekaulike will face off against Baldwin tomorrow night at 5:30pm at Maehara Stadium. Congratulations and good luck!

Baseball season is underway as our Na Alii start their 3 game series against Baldwin today at 3:30pm at Maehara Stadium. Girls Volleyball Signs Again

Senior volleyball player Kawehi Mahoney signed a letter of acceptance last night to Eastern Arizona.  Kawehi will be attending and playing volleyball for the Gila Monsters this upcoming fall.  Mahoney joins teammate Teryanna Freitas (Washington State) as our second volleyball player to sign a National Letter of Intent this year. Congratulations to Kawehi, Coach Al and staff, and to the Mahoney 'ohana! Good luck - Ku Na Alii!

Alumnus earns All-American honors

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Southwestern College junior Keegan Gregg, class of 2013, earned All-American honors in the 800 Meter Run at the 2016 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Gregg finished eighth in Saturday's finals, which took place at the David E. Walker Track at Gentry Field on the campus of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn.

Gregg had nothing to lose in Friday's race. As one of eight finalists, the junior was guaranteed to be an All-American before the race even started, so long as he crossed the finish line. He finished with a time of 1:58.26, and finished eighth in the eight-team field, but still earned rights to the All-American podium for the first time in his career.

Gregg and his teammates will open the 2016 outdoor season on Thursday at the annual SC Invitational. Events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on the Helmer Family Track inside Richard L. Jantz Stadium.

18th Annual Baseball Tournament starts today

The 18th Annual King Kekaulike Baseball Tournament starts up today at Maehara Stadium. Here is the schedule for this year's tournament:

Thur. 2/18 - Baldwin vs Seabury Hall @ 2pm, Molokai vs Lahainaluna @ 4:15pm, Kaimuki vs Kekaulike @ 6:30pm. Fri. 2/19 - Kaimuki vs Lahainaluna @ 2:00pm, Molokai vs Kekaulike @ 4:15pm, Molokai vs Baldwin @ 6:30pm.  Sat. 2/20 - Kaimuki vs Baldwin @ 9:00am, Kaimuki vs Molokai @ 11:15am, Seabury Hall vs Kekaulike @ 1:30pm, Seabury Hall vs Lahainaluna @ 3:45pm.

Na Alii Wahine open MIL play this week

Our Na Alii Wahine Basketball open MIL play tonight on the road against Lahainaluna at 7:30pm.  Our Na Wahine Soccer team opens MIL play tomorrow night here at home at 7:00pm, following our JV Girls' game at 5:00pm. Admission will be charged at gate. MIL cards accepted.

Kekaulike's 1st Ever All American Honors

Treyanna Freitas was named an honorable mention to the All American team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Tre was the only player from Hawaii to be named to this team. The 10th Annual All American list is sponsered by Under Armour includes 150 players across the nation.  Congratulations to Treyanna Freitas!

Quinton Uradomo recorded a 497 (184,144,169) and 10 bullseyes and is currently in 24th place this morning at the HHSAA State Air Riflery Championships at Kamehameha-Maui.

Na Wahine Repeat - Defend MIL Title

Congratulations to our girls volleyball team on winning their back to back MIL title this past Saturday at Seabury Hall. Our girls took sets 2, 3, and 4 defeating Kamehameha for the MIL crown and the number 3 seed at states.  Our Na Alii Wahine will host the Kamehameha Kapalama/Mililani winner this Thursday at Moanalua HS Gym at 5pm at the HHSAA State Volleyball Tournament. Mackinnon wins MIL Championship

Congratulations to Eden MacKinnon on winning the MIL Cross Country Championship this past Saturday at Seabury Hall. Our boys team finished 2nd overall. Eden will  along with teammates Dalton Aganos, Pookela Akiona, Kekoa Hunt, Alexander Fahland, Luke Burkhart, and Joey Musto (alt) will be representing Kekaulike this upcoming Saturday at the HHSAA State Championship also at Seabury Hall.  Representing our girls team will be Lytiana Akinaka, Savanna Valdez and Kayla Hackett (alt).  Good luck to our cross country teams!

Na Ali'i Heading to UH for Volleyball

Congratulations to two time MIL Player of the Year, and 2015 Kekaulike graduate Colton Cowell on accepting a scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Hawaii this upcoming spring. Colton helped our Na Alii earn back to back MIL titles and two Final Four finishes at States.  Colton is our first ever Division 1 scholarship signee for our Boy's Volleyball program.  Congratulations again and good luck Colton!

NCAA Division I alert for incoming juniors

MEN'S DI BASKETBALL (INCOMING JUNIORS) – May begin receiving recruiting material on a daily basis starting June 15th after their sophomore year. College coaches can make unlimited calls to you. Official visits are allowed January 1. You may make only one official visit per college and up to five official visits to Division I colleges. There is no limit to official visits to DII colleges. Off-campus visits are allowed beginning opening day of classes. Contacts other than April period may only occur at your school. Contacts in April may occur at your school or residence. No contact on the day of a competition and may not occur during the time of day when classes are in session.

WOMEN'S DI BASKETBALL (INCOMING JUNIORS) – May receive mail on a daily basis September 1. You may make calls to the coach and college coaches may call you unlimited beginning September 1. Off-campus contact is allowed September 1 at the beginning of your junior year. No contacts on the day of a competition. Official visits are allowed April beginning Thursday following the Women's Final Four.

MEN'S DI FOOTBALL (INCOMING JUNIORS) – May receive mail on a daily basis beginning September 1. You may call college coach. You are not allowed an off-campus contact or official visit.

D1 ALL OTHER SPORTS (INCOMING JUNIORS) – May receive mail on a daily basis beginning September 1. College coaches may call you after September 1. Official visits are not allowed.

NOTE: Swimming & Diving, Cross Country, Track & Field, Baseball, , Women's Volleyball – College coaches may not call you before July 1 following completion of junior or the opening day of classes of the senior year, whichever is earlier.

Alert for All NCAA Division II & III bound Student Athletes & Parents

The following are critical dates for all Division II and II student-athletes and parents and where they currently stand in the recruiting process.

Men and Women Division II - ALL SPORTS – There is no limit on the number of calls by college coaches beginning June 15th before your junior year. No call, you are not currently on the radar.

You may make official visits to a DII school starting June 15th before you junior year. You may make up a maximum of five official visits to DI colleges. THERE IS NOT LIMIT TO OFFICIAL VISITS TO DII COLLEGES.

Men and Women Division III - ALL SPORTS – There is no limit on the number of calls or when they can be made by the college coach. You may make official visits starting the opening day of classes your senior year. There is no limit to official visits to Division III colleges.
