✴ The Saugatuck Spotlight

This week, we shine the spotlight on terrific third grade teacher Kristin McCoy!

If I wasn’t a teacher I would want to be a . . . a museum docent. I was an Art History major as an undergrad.

If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life it would be . . . sushi! I love sushi!

My favorite place to visit is . . . Italy. The food, art, and culture are just amazing!

If I could visit anywhere it would be . . . Iceland, the landscape looks beautiful!

Little known fact about me . . . I went on an exchange program to Russia for two months. The parents of the family that hosted me were both Olympic swimmers!

A Special Screening of Documentary Film Roll Red Roll

The Westport Young Woman's League is partnering with the Westport Public Library and the Rowan Center (formerly known as the Center for Sexual Assault), to screen the documentary film Roll Red Roll at 6:30 p.m. on April 30th at Branson Hall (Christ & Holy Trinity Church).  A discussion will follow with a panel of experts.  The film uncovers the engrained rape culture in the small-town of Steubenville, Ohio, and acts as a cautionary tale about what can happen when teenage social media bullying runs rampant and adults look the other way.  At a pre-season football party in small-town Steubenville, a heinous crime took place: the assault of a teenage girl by members of the beloved high school football team. Roll Red Roll unflinchingly asks: "why didn't anyone stop it?"

Media outlets' reviews for Roll Red Roll are overwhelmingly positive and state that the film is "piercingly relevant", "raw & pressing", and "an essential watch".

You can learn more about the film on their website:

Please note: The film is most appropriate for students age 16 and up.
