12/4 | Look through SCIP goals | Discussed making attendance a focus for Site Council. Strategies for improving school attendance include: Starting in January, create a school goal of improving attendance–consider grade level competition? Visual to display in school or daily reminder. More days in school Reduce Tardies Bedazzled alarm award. “When you miss school, you miss out, and we miss you!” Increase # of adults who reach out to students/families when student is absent. Increase point of contact AND immediacy. School is documenting efforts with both. Consider morning announcement to encourage students to come to class on time to hear the announcement. A grade other than 5th grade? Staff? Disaggregate attendance data—is there a day of week of higher absenteeism, grade? Reviewed FIT data for 24-25 | Site Council Feedback will be shared with school staff. Will likely go to a committee to continue the suggestions. Continue Attendance blurbs in Friday Flyer Promote taking the morning bus in Friday Flyer | Next meeting, January 8th. What are the specifics of start of attendance challenge? |
