ROLE TITLE:

ROLE CATEGORY:  Care Team

BRIEF OVERVIEW:  Soul Food is a ministry that provides meals for families and/or individuals going through life changes such as welcoming a baby, recovering from surgery, undergoing cancer treatment, etc. The meals can be home cooked, ordered from a local restaurant or bought frozen for the family to warm.

DIRECT SUPERVISOR:

LENGTH OF SERVICE:

Team Leader -

The time it Soul Food takes ebbs and flows with the amount of people in need.  At times we have 2-3 families per month and other times we go an entire month with no families to serve. Once you do have a family it's simply calling or texting the contact person to gather information and create the meal train. This generally takes just 10 minutes.

Team Members -

You're in the driver's seat. You can volunteer as little or as often as your schedule allows. The time required is also dependent on the meal you decide to make and where the delivery address is.

PREREQUISITES:

Current Background Check required?  No

GIFTS / TALENTS HELPFUL FOR THIS ROLE:  Some creativity, but pinterest gives great ideas!

ROLE SPECIFIC DETAILS:  The duties of our team leaders include calling the families that Soul Food will serve to get information (name, address, phone number, email address, likes/dislikes, and any allergy or dietary needs). After they have that information they create a meal train using the website mealtrain.com and send the link to the specific meal train out to the ministry members to sign up.

The roles for team members are to buy and/or prepare a meal for the family in need paying attention to any dietary and allergy requirements they might have. After the meal is prepared they also have to deliver it to the family. The team member can volunteer as little or as often as they'd like. We typically provide meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks.

TIME FRAME:  Soul Food runs year round.
