Telescope Networker: Opportunity to Add Instructional Leadership Capacity to Your School.

The Office of Teacher Leadership’s Telescope Network is expanding. As part of our effort to elevate and share effective practice across BPS, school leaders are able to apply to host a Networker Instructional Coach at your school two days per week next school year. • Awards! BPS Teacher Pipeline Programs awarded DESE Teacher Diversification Grant & the Alternative English Learner Education Programs Grant! In partnership with the Office of English Learners, we will launch the BPS Hub for Bilingual Education to provide Bilingual Education Endorsement and Bilingual Special Education Certification for our candidates in the BE/ACTT program.
• DESE Emergency SPED, ESL, and Digital Literacy licenses Extension  On February 18, 2022, MA DESE opened the application process to extend Emergency SPED, ESL, and Digital Literacy licenses to June 2023 on ELAR. This booklet, "How to Apply for the Emergency Extension," will be of interest to teachers with emergency licenses in these fields. Applicants will need to document that they have met the content knowledge of the license. Please share the booklet with your network. • BPS Teacher Cadet Program (TC) - a full-inclusion middle school through college program for all BPS students, providing career and college readiness programs and teaching apprenticeships. TC continues programming on the theme of Racial Equity and Equality for Black History Month. Reserve Monday, February 28, 2022, 4:30-6:00pm for Black History Month Student Forum. Teacher Cadets, members of the Boston Student Advisory Council (BSAC) and general public are invited to hear students’ perspectives on social activism and discuss ways to be more effective activists.

• MTEL Flex - DESE recently introduced a new MTEL testing policy called MTEL Flex. MTEL Flex allows licensure candidates who took certain subject-area MTELs on or after October 20, 2020 and did not earn a passing score to submit a written assessment instead of re-taking the test. All BASAS deletions and addition requests must be submitted by 3/1.  Most of these were identified in Probable Org. Any additions need to be added to this form by 3/1 as a final deadline.

Spring 2022 PAL Support Program (Aspiring Leaders)

The BPS Office of Talent and Leadership Development invites you to learn more about the Spring 2022 PAL Support Program on Saturday, March 5 from 9 am - 10 am . We support educators who have completed a graduate degree or  enrolled in a graduate program for principal/assistant principal licensure who need to complete their MA Performance Assessment for Leaders (PAL). Lynch Leadership Academy is accepting applications for Mentor Principals

Latinos for Education 

LFE is now accepting applications for their Aspiring Latino Leaders Fellowship. The Aspiring Latino Leaders Fellowship is a 9-month program that supports Latino education leaders to advance in their leadership journey and ultimately expand their sphere of influence in the education sector, so more of our students succeed. More information including the application can be found here.
