We ask that you remain at this station throughout the entire Field Trip
Many students will be experiencing GaGa for the first time
The “gameplay” will probably start slow with each group but pick-up rapidly as the rules are understood
Some combativeness with regards to being “hit” or “out”
This will be the most talked about station of the field trip!
Rules
Ga-ga is a form of dodgeball which is played within a batting cage net
To start- you will divide the group into three separate Tee Cages (#5/4/3)
This is typically an everyone for her/himself elimination game. Players are eliminated when the ball hits below the waist. Players hit below the waist are then out and must leave the playing area. Players are also eliminated if the knee, elbow or bottom hits the ground. Pushing a player into the ball and any other intentionally physical contact results in elimination.
Players may NOT pick-up, stop, catch, throw or possess the ball
A player being hit at or below his or her waist is not grounds for a stoppage of play. That player leaves the area as gameplay continues
However, in an effort to reduce tears, and keep everyone active, the version we are playing today will see that if a player is eliminated from Tee Cage #5, they simply enter the game in progress in Tee Cage #4/ Players Eliminated from Tee Cage #4 enter the game in progress in Tee Cage #3/ Players Eliminated from Tee Cage #3 enter the game in Progress in Tee Cage #5
(3) “Winners” are picked by you with your estimating who physically remained in each respective space/game the longest during each groups rotation!
Tips
Begin by having all participants sit inside of the playing area
Remind players when they get “out” that this is a fast paced game and we will play many times during this rotation.
Ask your Coach Brad about rule clarification or adjustments you would like to make!
