ADULT PROGRAM PRICE INCREASE & DISCOUNT OPPORTUNITIES

SADC is increasing prices for adult program classes effective MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2020. Single classes will go up by $1 and class cards will increase by 5-7%. SADC is offering new and expanded discount opportunities alongside the increase to meet the needs of all of our community members.

WHY THE INCREASE?

As we face the realities of running a nonprofit in the Bay Area, the price increase will allow SADC to:

  • sustain current adult class programming without cuts or interruptions in programming;
  • maintain livable wages for a staff of 65 teaching artists, administrators and accompanists;
  • ensure the sustainability of our nonprofit programs for years to come by maintaining a balanced budget.

DISCOUNTED TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

SADC is fully aware that the increase will be a barrier to participation for some of our students. To alleviate this, SADC is offering four robust discounted training opportunities when the regular cost of classes presents a financial challenge.

NEW -- DISCOUNTED TRAINING PROGRAM (DTP): Single classes for $12 each for adult students with a household income under $45,000/year. 50 students will be offered the discount in this first round of the program via a need-based application.

WORK STUDY PROGRAM (WSP): One hour of work = one class or one hour of rehearsal. The WSP is an application-based program and trade hours are based on current availability and staffing. The WSP offers over $17,000 per year in work trade.

PROFESSIONAL PERFORMER RATE: $1 off the regular single class rate and one year expiration on class cards for professional dance artists who are actively performing in productions with paying audiences (this will be $17 per class effective 2/3/2020.)

STEPHANIE JACOB ADULT SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Funded by an annual gift from former adult student Stephanie Jacob, grants and donors, we are able to offer 4-class cards, 8-class cards, or 75% of tuition covered for a workshop of interest to adults in need. The program gives away approximately 220 adult classes per year (~$3,500 value). Scholarships are awarded 3 times a year via a simple online form.
