Plant Care
Materials Needed:
•Small watering can
•sponge on a soap dish
•Small size wash cloths
•Small Spray bottle
•Towels
•Small and large potted plants
Lesson:
•Have materials on a small shelf
•Introduce the material
Watering the plant:
•Have child take the plant to a small table or the floor
(Allow the child to carry the plant)
•Child can get water and water the plants
•Have child return the plant back to its proper place.
Washing the leaves:
•Have child take the small Sponge with the soap dish to the plant. Sponge should be wet
•Talk about the plants leaves and how they need to be cleaned
•Hold the leaf gently with on hand and wipe down with sponge
•Let your child have a turn
Misting the Plants:
•Have your child take spray bottle to the plants
•Holding spray bottle with one hand and using other hand to squeeze the handle.
*Your child will spray themselves and try to drink the water. It take some practice to hold the bottle the proper way.
•Let them mist the plants
Clean up:
Return all items back to the shelf
Wipe up anything wet with a towel or mop
Wash hands
