3rd Game Study Suggestion :

🕹️ GAME 01 : AMONG US

Among Us is a popular multiplayer online video game developed and published by InnerSloth. It was first released in 2018 and gained widespread popularity in 2020. The game is set on a spaceship or space station, where players take on one of two roles : Crewmates or Impostors.

1. Crewmates : The majority of players assume the role of Crewmates, whose goal is to complete various tasks around the spaceship. These tasks involve things like fixing wires, emptying trash, and monitoring instruments. Crewmates must work together to complete their tasks and keep the spaceship running.

2. Impostors : A smaller number of players are designated as Impostors. Their objective is to sabotage the spaceship and eliminate Crewmates without being detected. Impostors can also fake completing tasks and move around the ship like Crewmates to blend in.

The game is played in rounds, and players discuss and vote on who they believe the Impostors are. The player with the most votes is ejected from the spaceship. The game continues until either all the Impostors are ejected (Crewmates win) or the Impostors manage to equal or outnumber the Crewmates (Impostors win).

Experience & Interpretation

Jiahui

Experience:

My experience with Among Us has been a blast. I love its simple art style, and the characters have a distinct charm. Whether I'm a crewmate or an impostor, it's always fun. The short rounds are addictive, making it hard to stop playing. The art direction does kinda give off “graphic design is my passion” vibes, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing and when studying the technicalities of the design, it’s actually very well thought out.

💡 Interpretation:

  • Overall Art Style :

Among Us has a strong Art Direction that manages to use their simple art style to their advantage. Its simple art style that sometimes feels intentionally bad  is not only easy for fans to replicate through fanarts, but also distinguishes itself from other games with a more polished artstyle.

Landing page- simple but captures the essence of space & danger well, accompanied by the mysterious BGM

Role reveal page- simple and straight to the point, but visually not very appealing. The “shhh” page features a crewmate with realistic looking fingers, which does not match the simple cartoony vibe of the rest of the game.

  • Character Design :

Simple but has a strong sense of identity. Clear and distinguishable silhouette.

Has only one primary colour palette for each crewmate that are all bright and saturated, making them easily stand out from the background and distinguishable from each other.

The props the characters can wear are fun but subtle hence does not take away the focus from the crewmates’ original colours.

  • Environment Design & Ambience :

2D map with a top down view.

Waiting room- the rocket vibrates and stars in the background moves downwards, a subtle sign to show that the spaceship is moving

Spaceship- has a more muted colour to allow the crewmates to be the focal point. The lighting that follows the character is effective in highlighting where the character is but not revealing too much, giving the game its mysterious tension.

  • UI/UX :

Tasks and interactable objects are highlighted to indicate them clearly to players

Text are strategically placed to not block the visual

Fonts kinda suck tho ngl. Also only white coloured text

  • Playful Experience :

The usage of deceit as a main component of the game creates an addicting suspenseful experience. It is also crucial that each round of the game does not take a long time, adding onto the addictive factors. Multiplayer enhances the gameplay, with chat functions that are easy to use.  The BGM also enhanced the mysterious & suspenseful ambience throughout the game, creating an immersive gaming environment.

Siew Weng

Experience:

During my experience playing Among Us, I initially found it somewhat boring and lacking a clear objective. Despite the game's premise of science fiction and sabotage, I struggled with the overall gameplay due to what I perceived as inconsistencies and a lack of clear instructions.

One of my initial challenges was the inconsistency in the game's interface. While there were tutorials and practical guides provided for users to learn how to play, I felt that these resources did not offer enough cues or guidance. As someone who doesn't frequently play games and wasn't familiar with the concept beforehand, it was especially challenging for me to discover that there were resources available to help me understand the game. The layout and design of the "practical" and "how to play" sections appeared small and unattractive, making them easy to overlook.

However, my experience improved significantly when my peers took the time to guide me through the gameplay. Their assistance helped me understand the mechanics, objectives, and strategies within the game. It became more apparent that Among Us could be enjoyable and engaging once you had a grasp of how to navigate the interface and work within the game's social deduction framework.

This experience underscores the importance of user-friendly interfaces and clear onboarding for players, especially those who are new to a game. While Among Us has the potential to be an exciting and strategic multiplayer game, it can initially pose challenges for individuals unfamiliar with its unique mechanics. Clearer cues and more prominent tutorials could enhance the accessibility and enjoyment for newcomers, making the learning curve less steep and the overall experience more rewarding.

💡 Interpretation:

  • Overall Art Style :

Among Us boasts a 2D art style that's both simplistic and intriguing. It effectively captures a sense of mystery and sci-fi adventure. The minimalist character design and spaceship setting contribute to the game's immersive atmosphere.

  • Character Design :

Character design in Among Us is quite unique. Players experience a progression from "alive" to "killed" to "dead" when their in-game avatars meet their demise. The characters themselves are intentionally basic and iconic.

  • Environment Design & Ambience :

The game's background music and sound effects effectively transport players into a space-themed world. It fosters a sense of realism and encourages imaginative storytelling within the game. However, some of the certain areas had lack ambience and lighting as well as inconsistent environment design.

  • UI/UX  :

- Typography

The typography in Among Us presents an interesting mix of handwritten and Arial-like fonts. This fusion adds to the game's playful and somewhat informal nature, reinforcing the idea that it's a lighthearted social deduction experience but somewhat inconsistent within the application.

- Customizable Settings

It has a customizable setting that allows players to customise them with a choice of 18 colours and different accessories in order to make their character stand up and look differ. Moreover, the game offers different control settings to accommodate various preferences, whether users prefer a joystick or touch-based navigation.

- Maps & Navigation

The maps are designed to be simplistic, avoiding clutter while providing an easy-to-navigate cursor. Unfinished tasks are clearly indicated, making it straightforward for players to know where to go.

*Red indicate the vent*

One aspect that could be improved is the vents' direction cursor. For Impostors trying to navigate vents, the cursor can be a bit small, potentially causing difficulties for users with larger fingers. And, there are no clues for the user on where the direction is to go to the next vent.

- Task Design

Tasks in Among Us are generally easy to understand and execute. However, there are instances where new players might struggle due to a lack of cues. Providing a "rulebook" or in-game guidance for tasks could help newcomers better understand how to complete them.

- Colour Scheme

The game's colour scheme, while generally effective, might benefit from more variety to prevent maps from feeling monotonous and to add visual interest. But the colour of the environment looks very dull in fact.

  • Playful Experience  :

Overall, Among Us excels in delivering a playful and engaging experience. Its art style, character customization, and social deduction mechanics contribute to its appeal. The game's simplicity and accessibility make it enjoyable for a wide range of players, while the blend of strategy and deception keeps the experience fresh and exciting. And, the inclusion of different kill animations adds an engaging element and prevents the game from becoming monotonous. However, the colour palette might benefit from a bit more diversity. However, the game would become boring after a long-play.

Pei Yun

Experience:

This is my very first time officially trying to play Among Us just for this Art Direction module. I had heard about this game’s popularity especially during the pandemic. I also noticed ALOT of funny memes that are related to the game shared online. Since this is my first time, I was a bit confused. I noticed that Among Us offers a few different maps like The Skeld, MIRA HQ, Polus, and the Airship, and I thought maybe I should familiarise myself with them before joining the “real game” (grandma learning style). As a newbie, I worried about not doing well and possibly being the weakest on the team. So, I decided to try out the practice mode first before diving into the REAL games with online players. Please do not laugh at me, but my first game in Among Us with random online players made me really nervous. They were using this gaming lingo like "SUS," and I was totally clueless. I was like, "What's SUS? Who's SUS? 😭" Eventually, I figured out that it means" suspicious." Oh boy, the learning curve in gaming can be a rollercoaster! But after trying a few times, I find that this game is fun but at the same time gets boring quickly because it felt like all it was doing was guessing who the Impostor was and lots of tasks to do. Then there are those moments where the emergency meetings when everyone starts accusing each other which ends really quick by killing the wrong people. I think playing this game is a lot more enjoyable when you're with your real friends rather than playing with random people you meet online. It's just more fun and comfortable when you're with people you know and can have a good time together.

💡 Interpretation:

  • Overall Art Style :  A simple yet cute-ugly cartoony art style that's easy on the eyes. The characters and environments are designed to be cute and approachable, which contrasts with the tension of the gameplay.

  • Character Design : The crew members have a minimalistic design with colourful spacesuits and cuteness that reminds me of minion characters, also in a funny way like toe. Their simple character makes it easy for players to recognize each other and players are able to dress up themself under the “inventory” while adding a touch of charm to the game play.

  • Typeface :

The Logo of Among Us uses a more stylized and decorative typeface while in the game’ UI and text elements it has a clear and legible font choice that aligns with its simple and approachable visual style, where it conveys a sense of formality.

The logo's font choice is designed to create a distinctive and memorable brand identity for Among Us. It stands out from the in-game text,

  • Environment Design & Ambience :

When the character walks that sounds like “dedede” or “toktoktok” around the spaceship, you can hear footsteps that sound like they're in a place with low gravity or on a spaceship's metal floors that make the game more realistic even though it looks simple and cartoonish.

  • Sound ambience (Spaceship noises, alarm)
  • Effect (Smoke , Lighting “flickering” in the spaceship)

Features multiple spaceship interiors, including "The Skeld," "MIRA HQ," "Polus," and "The Airship." Each environment has its layout and design with clear distinctions between rooms and corridors.

  • Colour Scheme :
  1. Crewmate and Impostor Colour

The character colour palette, which consists of primary and secondary colours, also contributes to the environment's colour scheme. As players move around the spaceship, the colourful crewmates add splashes of vibrant hues to the otherwise dark surroundings. This contrast helps players quickly identify and track the movement of others.

  1. Spaceship Environment

Notice that the environment in the spaceship is most lightly to dark and moody colour scheme. The walls, floors, and ceilings are predominantly dark shades of blue, grey, or black. This darkness sets the stage for the game's into a more suspenseful atmosphere to create a sense of mystery and tension into the game play.

  • UI/UX :
  • Little Ipad thing (as a frame)  / Computer
  • Navigation / button (use illustration > button)

Jia Hsuan

Experience:
This game suddenly went viral during the pandemic and lots of my friends around me would play together with their friend groups day and night, even using discord so that they can communicate more effectively amongst themselves. I did not understand the hype at that time as I’m not a game person at all, however, after playing it for the very first time,  I find myself somewhat enjoying it. It’s the only game in my phone (yes… don’t judge) and it may be my favourite game from now on. The rules were simple to follow and after a few rounds, I got a gist of it and played in the public server with strangers.  This game not only foster decision-making skills but also teamwork and communication within the group, regardless of playing with strangers or with friends

💡 Interpretation:

  • Overall Art Style :

It’s more of a comical yet simple 2D vector artstyle with bold black outlines on all the graphics with vibrant colours

  • Character Design :

The characters were deemed as humanoid creatures with a portly appearance, and they wear full-body spacesuits and small backpacks. The backpack’s purpose is unclear, though our best guess is that it’s an oxygen tank of some kind. They appear more smooth and uniform in appearance, with rounder shapes and more circular visors. Every characters have their own distinct colours, like Black, Blue, Brown, Cyan, Green, Lime, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, White and Yellow. Characters could be customized with hats,a heart pin, angry eyebrows, unicorn head, rubber glove, and more.

  • Typeface :

Among us logo- Use of thin strokes with a handwritten quirky feel designed by Reema Chhabra

Among US Imposter / Crewmate screen font is VCR OSD Mono- Use of bitmap font, giving off retro video games vibes and is designed by Riciery Leal

  • Environment Design & Ambience :

The environment on the spaceship is rather dull and dark compared to the characters. Therefore, it creates contrast to the characters, and players can easily spot the movement of the characters roaming around the game. Moreover, there would only be a spotlight following the character, and lighting up a certain area of the room of their whereabouts.

  • Colour Scheme :

The spectrum of the colour is quite wide and all the colours were more on the bright/vibrant side. All of the colours also are relatively contrast to one another

UI/UX :

The overall UX of the game can be considered rather hard to navigate at first, as the arrangement of the contents were confusing. Moreover, the buttons were not simple enough with the icons being colourful as well. The UI on the other hand uses a lot of grids and boxes to group the information, which sometimes limits the spacing of the information. There were no indicators on the buttons (e.g. colour change/animation after pressing it)

Jennifer

Experience:
Among us is a mobile game that was a total hype back during covid days when everyone’s stuck at their homes. I was one of them and I played it quite often together with my friends. At first it may seem quite boring and all (fixing machine la, doing tasks) like what's great about that? However, after playing among us, most of us, especially me, felt a range of emotions depending on our role and how the game played out. For example, players who were imposters may feel a sense of excitement, tension, or even guilt if they successfully deceived their fellow crewmates or anxiety if they were caught. Crewmates might feel relief if they correctly identify an impostor or frustration if they were wrongly accused. So in my experience, among us can be a fun and social game that often leads to laughter and enjoyment among players, especially when played with friends or in a group.

💡 Interpretation:

  • Overall Art Style :
The overall artstyle of this game features a simple and cartoon-like art. The visual emphasises clean lines, minimalistic shapes, and a playful aesthetic.
  • Character Design :
In the game among us, crewmates look like cute little characters wearing colourful space outfits. They have round faces with big, expressive eyes that show their feelings like surprise or happiness. They also have short arms and legs, and each one wears a different colour suit so you can tell them apart. The character design is simple yet effective. Overall, the character design in Among us successfully combines simplicity and distinctiveness, making it easy for players to recognize and engage with the characters while adding an element of mystery and intrigue with the impostors subtle design variations.
  • Environment Design & Ambience :
Among us is set on a spaceship or a space station, and from what I observed, the environments are designed to be relatively straightforward but still engaging. Some of the key aspects include the space setting, Varied Maps, Interactive Elements, Ambience and Sound, Emergency Meetings and Task-Oriented Design. The Among us creates a tense atmosphere by using subtle sound effects and also featuring ambient spaceship noises, such as the hum of machinery and the occasional beep of alarms. These sounds contribute to the overall sense of being in a spaceship.
  • Colour Scheme :
As said before, among us used a simple and distinctive colour scheme for its characters and interface. The game consists of a selection of colours, and players can choose their character’s colour when entering a game. The colours include, red, blue, green, pink, orange, yellow, black, white, purple, brown. Overall I think the choices of distinct and bright colours for the characters makes it easy for players to identify each other and remember who is who during discussions and gameplay. This is especially important in social deduction games where players need to communicate and keep track of each other.

  • UI/UX :

The UI in among us is quite good considering it doesn’t overwhelm players with cluttered interface, keeping the focus on gameplay and communication. The main menu and lobby scenes are easy to navigate, allowing players to quickly create or join games. The menu options are also clear and straightforward. Moving on to the Task list and map that are accessible during gameplay, allowing players to see their objectives and navigate the spaceship. During the discussions and voting phases, players can easily select the player they want to vote for by tapping on their name. So overall the UI is pretty effective yet simple.

UX in among us is designed to be accessible to a wide range of players with customizable settings for voice chat, text size, and controls. This helps ensure that players can enjoy the game regardless of their preferences or needs.

🕹️ GAME 02 : GOOSE GOOSE DUCK

Introduction :

"Goose Goose Duck" (2021) is a social deception and deduction game that draws inspiration from the classic children's game "Duck, Duck, Goose" and the popular online game "Among Us." It is designed for multiplayer online play and typically involves a group of players trying to complete objectives while identifying and eliminating impostors among them.

Concept : Similar to "Among Us”, in "Goose Goose Duck," players are divided into two groups: Crewmates and Impostors. Crewmates work together to complete tasks around the game map, while Impostors secretly try to sabotage these tasks and eliminate Crewmates without being caught. The game is characterized by deception, teamwork, and communication.

Key features of "Goose Goose Duck" include:

Tasks: Crewmates have various tasks to complete, such as repairing systems or filling fuel tanks. Completing tasks contributes to the overall progress of the game.

Meetings: Players can call meetings to discuss suspicious behaviour or to vote on who they believe is an Impostor. These discussions are crucial for identifying and eliminating potential threats.

Impostors: Impostors can pretend to be Crewmates and blend in with the group. They must sabotage tasks and eliminate Crewmates discreetly to win.

Voting: During meetings, players vote on who they suspect is an Impostor. The player with the most votes is ejected from the game. Crewmates aim to vote out all Impostors, while Impostors aim to outnumber Crewmates.

Communication: Effective communication among players is key to uncovering the Impostors and completing tasks. Players may form alliances, share information, or use voice or text chat to strategize.

"Goose Goose Duck" has gained popularity for its unique blend of social deduction and teamwork elements. It encourages players to be observant, think critically, and work together to achieve their respective goals, making it an engaging and thrilling multiplayer experience.

Experience & Interpretation

Jiahui

Experience:

After playing Among Us ( and getting a bit tired of it), this game doesnt particularly bring anything new or revolutionary to the table. It’s entertaining and has a more polished look, but the entire thing just feels like it’s riding the hype among us created, trying to be among us 2 repackaged with better visuals.

💡 Interpretation:

  • Overall Art Style :

Cuter and more appealing than Among Us, however, less memorable as the geese is not something I’ve never seen before, nor does it have a particularly strong silhouette.

  • Character Design :

Simple & cute, memorable big eyes but insignificant silhouette.

  • Environment Design & Ambience :

Landing page-Incorporates elements of 3D and gradient shading, providing it with a strong sci-fi look and feel.

2D map with top down view

Ship- has an emphasis on light (eg-screens & electronics). Lights stand out with their neon hue. Background contains moving elements (like screens)

  • UI/UX :

Has coloured text and a more unique and playful font.

  • Colour Scheme :

Pleasing to the eye and not too saturated or contrasting.

  • Playful Experience :

Siew Weng

Experience:

"Goose Goose Duck" is a fascinating social deduction game that brings together elements from various popular games like "Among Us," "Mafia," "PUBG," and more. While my personal experience with the game was somewhat limited due to the application’s “clash” server, I've gleaned valuable insights from watching gameplay videos on platforms like YouTube. From my observations of gameplay videos, "Goose Goose Duck" combines the iconic environment design of "Among Us" with the strategic depth of "Mafia" and introduces an element of ambiance reminiscent of games like "PUBG." This unique fusion of concepts creates an intriguing gameplay experience that sets it apart from other social deduction games. Compared to “Among Us”, "Goose Goose Duck" appears to emphasize teamwork and collaboration to a greater extent than "Among Us". The game's objective seems more meaningful when a group of friends or players work together to achieve their goals. This emphasis on cooperation adds an exciting layer to the social deduction genre.

💡 Interpretation:

  • Overall Art Style  :

The overall art style in "Goose Goose Duck" is characterized by simplicity and iconography. It features geese and ducks as central elements, and while the visuals are straightforward, they are effective in creating memorable and recognizable character designs. The game's art style contributes to its lighthearted and playful atmosphere, enhancing the overall gaming experience.

  • Character Design :

In "Goose Goose Duck", character design is simplistic and iconic, featuring geese and ducks. Players can customize their characters with various colors and accessories, adding a personal touch to the game. Special roles add depth to the gameplay, creating an interactive experience reminiscent of advanced Mafia editions. The interactive nature of these roles fosters engagement and cooperation among players, creating dynamic and memorable in-game interactions.

  • Environment Design & Ambience :

"Goose Goose Duck" offers a diverse range of maps, each with its own distinct theme, which sets it apart from similar games like "Among Us." This diversity not only keeps the game fresh but also adds layers of complexity to the gameplay. The maps introduce unique challenges and scenarios, making every session feel different and exciting.

One standout feature in "Goose Goose Duck" is the attention to detail in creating a convincing ambience. Each map has its own characteristic footstep sounds and ambient noises that correspond to the environment's theme. This attention to audio detail contributes significantly to the game's immersion and realism. When players move between different types of flooring or locations, the subtle changes in footstep sounds provide auditory cues that enhance the overall experience.

  • UI/UX :

- Typography & Overall Interface (Buttons, Etc)

Typography in "Goose Goose Duck" appears to be a point of strength, offering a more consistent and interactive experience compared to "Among Us." The game's use of typography is not only functional but also adds to the game's overall aesthetics and user interaction such as the button having the border that presents the goose or duck’s characteristics.

- Customizable Settings

One of the standout features of the game is its extensive range of customizable settings, which greatly enriches the player experience and allows for a high degree of personalization. It introduces a quirky and unique form of self-expression through remote customization. Players even can customize their character's farts, creating an amusing and personalized touch. While it may seem unconventional, it adds a layer of humor and personality to the game, setting it apart from more serious titles like "Among Us."

- Server Reliablity

The game has faced challenges related to server issues. The presence of a poor server infrastructure can significantly impact the overall game experience, leading to slow integration and potentially causing frustration among players. In some cases, severe server issues can even deter players from continuing to use the application, leading to uninstallations.

The map navigation in the game was problematic due to a disconnect between two key elements: the overall map view and the real-time navigation indicator. The "you are here" marker on the maps didn't correspond accurately with the navigation indicator, creating confusion for players trying to identify their current location within the game world.

  • Colour Scheme :

The colour scheme in "Goose Goose Duck" is generally silly and vibrant, contributing to the game's playful and lighthearted tone. Players have a wide range of colour options for their geese characters, adding a touch of silliness and uniqueness to their avatars. This variety in colour choices prevents the game from feeling monotonous and allows players to express their individual style. Overall, the colour scheme complements the game's fun and social nature.

  • Playful Experience :

- Humor and Whisky
The game doesn't take itself too seriously, and this sense of humour is evident in various aspects, from customizable emotes like farts to the quirky character designs of geese and ducks. These playful elements infuse the game with a sense of lightheartedness and whimsy, making it enjoyable for players looking for a fun and amusing experience.

- Customization
"Goose Goose Duck" offers extensive customization options, allowing players to personalize their characters with different colours, outfits, and accessories. This not only adds to the silliness but also encourages self-expression and creativity, making each game unique.

- Social Interaction
The game promotes social interaction and collaboration. Players must work together, share information, and strategize to identify the Fox or protect it. The playful banter, discussions, and accusations among players create a dynamic and engaging social experience.

- Dynamic Roles
"Goose Goose Duck" introduces special roles that add complexity to the social deduction aspect, similar to advanced versions of Mafia. These roles require players to interact in unique ways, fostering interaction and excitement as players try to fulfil their roles or identify impostors.

- Unpredictability
The game's unpredictable nature keeps players on their toes. The ever-changing scenarios, unexpected twists, and humorous moments ensure that no two games are the same. This unpredictability contributes to the overall playfulness and replayability of "Goose Goose Duck."

Pei Yun

Experience:

Goose Goose Duck seems like another game inspired by Among Us due to its surge in popularity. However, it offers much more depth and content than what you might see at first glance. Unlike Among Us, which can sometimes feel repetitive, Goose Goose Duck offers a wide range of roles for ducks and geese, along with various maps and game modes to keep players entertained for an extended period.

Speaking of game modes, Goose Goose Duck boasts six different ones, which is a significant contrast to Among Us, which has only two. As a tip from a newbie like me, keeping practising would be a key to improving the skills in GGD. The mini game (Duties) are a great way to do this, as they aren't overly difficult, and there's a variety of them. The more efficiently you complete these mini-games, the better you can manage countdown timers or prevent critical sabotages. Familiarising yourself with each mini-game will save you valuable time and ensure you know what to do

💡 Interpretation:

  • Overall Art Style :

The overall art style of Goose Goose Duck is whimsical and cartoonish. The duck / goose characters are most likely the same, they have a cute and comical appearance, which aligns with the game's social deduction theme.

  • Character Design :

Players have the opportunity to customise their characters in Goose Goose Duck, allowing for a unique and personalised look. This customization may include choosing outfits, hats, and other accessories. However, in the game, to dress up the character, users need to pay for it. So, you can make your character look how you want, but some outfits cost money.

  • Environment Design & Ambience :

Find that there’s background music in each map at the landing page. The inclusion of a unique BGM for each map in Goose Goose Duck significantly enhances the game's atmosphere and immersion.

Goose Goose Duck features different maps or environments, each with its own unique design and atmosphere which let players never get bored easily and able to explore different maps, different duties , different roles.

When a goose is killed, a visual effect may be triggered to provide feedback to players.

  • UI/UX :

Map Size can be relatively small, which makes it challenging to move around as well as find it difficult in location detecting the precise location on the map, which can be crucial for completing tasks.

The button designs in Goose Goose Duck likely incorporate whimsical and colourful elements that match the game's art style. Buttons are easy to recognize, tap, or click, ensuring smooth interactions for players.

During Duck Discussion there are different kinds of modes that are accessible (user able to use mic or chat option for discussion ) which is an effective design including clear hierarchy and placement.

  • Colour Scheme :

Vibrant Characters, Contrasting Environments

Goose Goose Duck is known for its vibrant and colourful character designs, which add a playful and lively atmosphere to the game. To create visual contrast the backgrounds and environments where they play are usually calmer and use colours that go well with the characters' colours.

The colour scheme for Goose Goose Duck's environments is likely designed to balance the vibrancy of the characters with the need for clarity and gameplay functionality.

Jia Hsuan

Experience:
It was as though playing To Among us, as the gameplay concept is pretty much the same, it’s just that this is in the form of a silly looking, threatening, looking goose.

💡 Interpretation:

  • Overall Art Style :

It also uses the comical 2D vector art style with bold outlines for their graphics

  • Character Design :

The characters were not as simple as the Among Us creatures. The shadows and highlights of the character are not so harsh and softer. The details/colour on the customisable items/costumes/accessories were more detailed

  • Environment Design & Ambience :

On the contrary to Among Us, it uses mainly white coloured environment, which did not manage to create contrast to the characters, as some of the goose are also white colour

  • Colour Scheme :

The colour spectrum for the characters are relatively broad as well. However, not as many colour choices as Among Us.

  • UI/UX :

The overall UI is more pleasing to the eyes, despite the comical style, it uses better colours on the buttons with indicators. The overall arrangement of the information is also well thought of with sufficient spacing and more effective chunking of the info into boxes rather than using grid lines in one box

Jennifer

Experience:
Goose Goose Duck is a social deduction party game, like among us, the game involves players working together to complete tasks while trying to identify who among them is the goose or duck, depending on the game’s variation. After playing this game i can say it's quite silly especially with the duck/goose’s visuals. This game makes me feel competitive and determined to win although at first it was just for fun haha.. But another thing that I notice is that during the game, it brings me and my friends or even other strangers closer together. It provides an opportunity for social interaction and teamwork which can strengthen friendships and connections among players.

💡 Interpretation:

  • Overall Art Style :

The characters are the same like among us which are designed in a cartoonish fashion with exaggerated features and humorous expressions. In other words, it's Simple and Fun.

  • Character Design :

The characters in Goose Goose Duck take on animal personas, such as geese, ducks, or others. These animal-themed characters also involve exaggerated features to create comedic and visually interesting characters, for example oversized heads, expressive eyes, and comically proportioned body parts, long neck, and a distinctive beak. Another detail added to the characters are the costumes and accessories (silly hats for example) which add humour and whimsy of their appearance.

  • Environment Design & Ambience :

The game’s environment and settings are often straightforward and designed for gameplay clarity. They may include various themed locations, but the emphasis is on fun and interactivity rather than realism.

  • Colour Scheme :

The colours used in this game are vibrant and eye-catching.

  • UI/UX :

UI : Clear and distinct, it has a great information clarity including tasks, objectives, timers, and game state, in a clear and understandable manner. Communication tools that help player interaction such as through text, voice, or emotes.

UX : This game successfully engages players through immersive and enjoyable gameplay, fostering player interaction and teamwork. It also encourages player-to-player interaction, as communication and collaboration are central to these types of teamwork games.

  • Playful Experience :

The core of this game is social interaction. Players need to communicate, form alliances, and engage in conversations to deduce who the impostors are. Which eventually creates a dynamic and playful atmosphere for me. Also throughout the game it might have humorous scenarios amongst player interaction which makes it even funnier and funner..

Introduction :

"Identity V" is an immersive and intense mobile horror game developed by NetEase Games. This game offers a unique blend of survival horror and strategic gameplay.

Concept :
"Identity V” is a multiplayer game where players will take the role of either a hunter or a survivor. Sort of like hide and seek, but deadly. Whether you're a survivor or the hunter, the game's gripping storyline challenges ensure that every match is a thrilling and unforgettable experience.

Tasks are given to survivors to carry out in order to reveal the exit and escape successfully. Hunters will be notified whenever tasks are being carried out, making it a thrilling experience.

Rationale:

Shares the same cat and mouse concept as Among Us, but does not have the deceit factor. This game focuses on an escape gameplay for a thrilling effect, which I think can be studied to add more suspense.

Experience:

Playing Identity V is a thrilling experience. It gives off major survivor game vibes that has my heart racing when playing.

Introduction :

Suspects: Mystery Mansion is a social deduction game that features native voice chat, tons of unique game modes and regular fresh content to solve a murder mystery at the mansion — all within a stylized world of unique characters!

Concept :

The concept is pretty much similar to Among Us. The only difference is the characters are animals lol. Though it can be played with 9 real players as they try to solve the mysterious murder. Perform investigative tasks to get closer to finding the killers’ identity. But be careful, this will be no easy task as the killers are among the group and will stop at nothing to “kill” the investigation!

Between rounds, players will discuss who the killers might be. Everyone is a suspect in this social game of deduction. Discuss live with other players using the integrated voice chat feature. Where was the body? Where were they? What tasks did they perform? Who were they walking with? Who was acting suspicious?

After discussing, the game will ask you to vote. Vote with your gut to evict the suspect from the mansion. But be careful if you suspect another innocent guest and vote them out of the mansion, you will be helping the killers win the game!
