Third Sunday of Easter

The grand and dramatic story of God comes into focus in today's readings. The passages from Acts and from the Gospel of Luke describe how Jesus' disciples began to understand how Jesus fits into the larger narrative of God, Israel, humanity, and all of creation. In the Gospel, Jesus interprets the scriptures for his followers. He shows how his seemingly shameful death was actually the fulfillment of God's promises. Jesus shows how his life, death, and resurrection are the surprising turning point of the scripture story. We, the Church today, find ourselves in the middle of this story. We first look back, to recall God's overflowing and steadfast love, beginning from Creation, through Christ, until today. We then look forward to the fulfillment, already launched by Jesus, of the Reign of God. With this perspective, we play our part in the drama, joining God to bring God's work to completion.

Divine Saviour School -

* Casino Night Saturday April 21, 2018 from 6pm -12am. Our theme is Cowboys and Indians ( Come dressed up as a cowboy or indian and receive a special raffle ticket). Tickets are $35.00 per person or $60 per couple

Ticket includes: Dinner, drink ticket, door prize ticket and $100.00 in play money for gaming tables

You may purchase your tickets at the school office or please call the school at 323-222-6077 to reserve your tickets.

*Registration for the 2018-2019 school year is open. If you are interested in registering your child please stop by the school office (no appointment necessary) or call the office at 323-222-6077 to speak to Mrs. Ceballos, principal.

Registrations for 2018-2019 are open: First Communion, Youth Confirmation, RICA-RCIA.

DS BINGO

Join us every Friday night for Divine Saviour Bingo!

Doors open at 4pm. 

First time players receive a free main game with the purchase of their buy-in. Anyone who recommends a first-time player will also receive a free main game. For more information please consult the bingo manager or visit our website dssala.org/bingo.

Important Information and Continuing Events in the Archdiocese:

  1. The Office of Family Life is proud to sponsor a free, one day “Separated and Divorced Support Group Leadership Training.” This training is for parish leaders who want to learn how to start a new support group and for facilitators, as well as, current S/D Ministry Leaders who want to refresh their skills.   2. Training for Ministry of Consolation for the San Fernando Pastoral Region will take place on  8 Consecutive Sessions on Thursdays 7-9PM (April 12, 19, 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31).  Training will be held at Our Lady of Peace  15444 Nordhoff St, North Hills, CA 91343 and is $15 per session (please pay per session weekly online).
  3. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Joan Vienna, Coordinator, of the Office of Safeguard the Children and staff is proud to present the “Archdiocese of Los Angeles Ideas and Resources for Child Abuse Prevention Month, 2018” Packet to celebrate and to increase awareness.

(Participants for Extraordinary Ministry to the Sick must attend both the morning and the afternoon sessions.)

Half day: $15 Full day $25
