Mitigation Plan Overview

This mitigation plan is intended to provide guidance for Wrestlers, coaches, officials, and workers, when engaging in the scheduled High School Wrestling season. This plan must be followed when using ASD facilities or offsite facilities, throughout the season.

This mitigation plan may be suspended, or adjusted any time, based on guidance by the State of Alaska, Anchorage School District, or local municipality.

All participants must follow the guidelines outlined by ASAA and ASD for practices and events.

This mitigation plan outlines the protocols that coaches and student-athletes must follow given the certain restrictions and allowances by ASD.

Practices

• Must be scheduled through Community Schools (entered into SchoolDude)
• All participants must complete their PlanetHS which includes their COVID Sports Waiver and Release form prior to participation.
• To avoid exposure, wrestlers should be divided into smaller practice groups. They should stay within these groups throughout the season and should only be changed if absolutely necessary.

• Coaches will make sure all equipment is disinfected frequently and wrestling mats should be disinfected daily, as usual.
• Anyone (wrestlers, coaches, managers, staff, etc)  experiencing symptoms must not attend practice and  stay home.
• Athletes should only bring in water bottles, snacks, shoes, headgear, and an optional hand towel for wiping off sweat. Participants will each have their own water bottle. Water bottles and food may not be shared.
• Locker rooms will be available.
• To avoid unneeded exposure, there will be no spectators allowed at practices. Only coaches and team personnel are allowed at practice.

• Masks must be worn by all participants (coaches, wrestlers, staff) when not actively participating.

• The cleaning of equipment used during practice is recommended.
• Coaches will wipe down exercise equipment with sanitizing wipes, and make sure that all personal belongings are taken home.

Competition

• Only one team will weigh-in at a time, wearing masks, and socially distanced.
• Team seating will be socially distanced on the side of the mat, two rows and 6ft apart.
• All spectators, participants, officials, and coaches must wear masks throughout the duration of the event, unless actively participating or eating.
