WHY BE A PRECINCT DELEGATE? (PD)

Maybe you’re happy being a neighborhood volunteer/organizer for the Dems, and see no need to go to the trouble of getting elected.

That’s fair. Your work as a neighborhood organizer is crucial, and highly valued. But you might want to consider running for election for a few reasons.

  1. It’s easy. Here are the instructions for getting elected.

  1. As a PD, you’re an elected official in the Democratic Party. That brings recognition, opportunity, and a voice within the party that unelected organizers simply don’t have.

  1. It’s a stepping stone: many elected leaders in higher office began as PDs.

  1. PDs get privileged access – to WCDP-provided resources, elected leaders, decision-making opportunities, and early inside information.

  1. You’re already doing the work of a PD – why not get the full credit and perks?

  1. It’s a community – a community of people who share your values and commitment to Democratic principles. The WCDP Precinct Organizing Committee creates opportunities for PDs to meet, get to know each other, and exchange ideas about everything – from messaging in the next flyer, to how to recruit strong candidates, how to work creatively in rural communities, or how to cook the best barbecue recipes and settle a colicky infant (not with barbecue!).

We’re stronger together. We hope you’ll join us in the decision to become an elected Precinct Delegate.
