ATHLETIC DIRECTOR CHECKLIST

Staff - Update all staff/coaches in the TAPPS Management System (TMS).

  1. Make sure you are compliant in TMS.
  1. Complete the required TAPPS TEaMs Courses (TEaMs Courses) and certify them in TMS as required. (Certifying TEaMs Compliance)
  2. Complete the Professional Acknowledgement of Rules Form in TMS.
  1. Assign a Fine Arts Director if applicable at your school. They will take care of all the Fine Art information in TMS.
  2. Assign every role to each individual to ensure they receive all pertinent information.
  3. Deactivate the account of any who have left.
  4. Edit the roles of any who have changed.
  5. Add all new coaches, head and assistant.
  6. Make sure all sports have a head coach assigned.
  7. You cannot edit yourself, if you need to add a role, call the office.

Sports

  1. Check that all sports you are participating in have a Varsity level team created in TMS.
  2. Check standings on TAPPS.biz to check correct Division/District placement.
  3. Make sure all sport schedules have been entered into TMS, and scores are being reported within 24 hours of conclusion. (Entering Schedules in TMS) (Entering Scores in TMS)
  4. Check that all eligibility rosters are in TMS. (Entering Eligibility Rosters)

Students

  1. Promote all 9th, 10th, 11th grade students in TMS.
  2. Input all incoming 9th grade students into TMS. (Adding Students to TMS)
  3. Enter any transfer students into TMS.
  4. Email all parents to update/create a student profile in TMS. (TMS Web Quick Start Guide)

Education

  1. Check all coaches are compliant in TMS, Professional Acknowledgement of Rules and TEaMs training are completed.
  2. NFHS.org for new coaches or those with less than 5 years.(NFHS Learn)
  1. Must have General Fundamentals of Coaching course.
  2. Must have Sport Specific Fundamentals course.
  1. Annual Training in First Aid, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Concussion Management, Body Temperature Illness and Performance Enhancing Drugs, can be school sponsored or use NFHS course training.
  2. Provide each sport with an NFHS manual, or applicable manual: NCAA for football; USTA for Tennis; USGA for golf.
  3. Provide By-Laws, or ensure understanding of, for each sport coached by each coach.
  4. Attend district planning meeting, district certification meeting, All-District selection for team sports, All-State meeting if selected by district.
  5. Review All-District and All-State selection procedures and ensure the coach is prepared.
  6. Ensure all ejections are reported on time and fine is paid.
  7. For any eligible student, submit the Academic All-State requirement in Rank One by deadline.
