- How We Calculate Impact Metrics: At Karma, we understand that the impact of your generosity matters. That’s why we aim to provide you with clear and accessible impact metrics to help you understand how your donations might make a difference. Here are a few important details about how we calculate and present these metrics:
- Data Sources: Our impact metrics are based on publicly available information, including charities' official websites, annual reports, and other reliable public sources. We strive to obtain information is accurate, up-to-date, and reflective of the potential impact of your donations.
- Estimates and Transparency: These metrics are estimates designed to provide a general understanding of your potential impact. While we review and update this information regularly, we recognize that no estimation is perfect. For full transparency, you can find detailed explanations of our methodology and data sources in the ‘Impact Metrics Methodology’ section.
- Limitations of Public Data: Please note that our metrics are derived from publicly available data, which may have limitations or inaccuracies beyond Karma’s control. This means the metrics may not fully capture the actual outcomes of your donations.
- No Guarantees: While we do our best to provide reliable estimates, Karma cannot guarantee the accuracy or completeness of these metrics. They are tools to guide your decision-making, not guarantees of outcomes.
- Charity Affiliation: The display of impact metrics for specific charities does not imply any formal partnership, affiliation, or endorsement by the respective charities.
- Your Role in Informed Giving: We encourage you to evaluate these metrics critically and conduct your own research before making donation decisions. Your diligence ensures that your contributions align with your values and goals.
- Our Commitment to You: We’re committed to empowering you with the tools and information you need to make confident and meaningful decisions about your donations.
- Impact Metrics Methodology
- At Karma, our goal is to provide you with the most accurate and accessible impact metrics possible. Below, we outline the methodology behind our impact calculations, ensuring transparency and clarity about how we estimate the potential effects of your donations.
- Our impact metrics are derived from publicly available and credible sources, including official charity websites, annual and financial reports, research papers and studies, nonprofit watchdog organizations, and government and regulatory bodies. We make every effort to ensure that our data is up-to-date and reliable, but we acknowledge that all public data has limitations.
- We use a combination of cost-effectiveness analysis, beneficiary impact estimations, and financial reporting to determine the projected outcomes of a donation. Our approach includes evaluating the charity’s operational expenses and efficiency ratios, analyzing historical donation impact reports (e.g., how much is spent per individual helped), comparing data across similar charitable organizations to establish reasonable estimates, and adjusting figures based on inflation and economic conditions where relevant.
- Impact metrics are inherently estimates and should be viewed as guidance rather than absolute figures. Factors that may affect accuracy include variability in charity operational costs, changes in external funding or resource allocation, local economic and geopolitical conditions affecting aid delivery, and data availability and reporting differences across charities. While we aim for accuracy, we encourage donors to conduct their own research for additional insights.
- To maintain the integrity of our impact metrics, we regularly review and update our calculations, clearly indicate when data was last refreshed, and provide detailed explanations for how each metric is derived. For full transparency, users can access a breakdown of our sources and calculation models within the ‘Impact Metrics Methodology’ section of our app or website.
- Karma provides these metrics as informational tools to help guide your giving decisions. However, we cannot guarantee that the outcomes presented will precisely reflect the real-world impact of your donations. The figures displayed serve as reference points rather than absolute guarantees.
- Our display of impact metrics does not imply any official affiliation, endorsement, or partnership with the charities listed. All metrics are derived from publicly available information and do not represent direct claims made by the charities themselves.
- We believe that donors should take an active role in their giving decisions. We encourage you to review multiple sources of information, consider additional factors such as charity governance and financial health, and align donations with your personal values and goals.
- Why We Conduct Testing: To continuously improve our services and deliver meaningful rewards, we may conduct testing including financial A/B testing. This involves presenting different features, rewards, or offers to select groups of users to evaluate what works best. Testing helps us refine our Services and offer more value to you.
- Randomized Participation: Participation in testing is random, meaning you may experience different features, rewards, or offers than other users. This helps us learn which solutions create the most positive impact.
- Temporary and Experimental Features: Any features, rewards, or benefits provided during testing are temporary and experimental. These elements may be modified, replaced, or discontinued at any time without notice.
- No Guarantees: The features or rewards you see during testing are designed for evaluation purposes and may not reflect the final offerings. We cannot guarantee specific financial outcomes or results.
- Your Data and Privacy: We understand the importance of your privacy. Information collected during testing is used solely to improve our services. All data handling follows our Privacy Policy and complies with applicable laws. We are committed to safeguarding your trust while ensuring the testing process is as seamless as possible.
- Opting Out of Testing: If you prefer not to participate in financial testing, please contact our support team. While some tests may require platform-wide participation, we’ll do our best to accommodate your preferences whenever possible.
- Transparency and Communication: We’re committed to keeping you informed. If there are significant changes to how testing impacts you, we’ll share updates in our Terms and Conditions or through direct communication.
- Limitations of Testing: While we aim to create meaningful improvements, testing is inherently experimental. We cannot be held responsible for any perceived disadvantages, dissatisfaction, or financial differences resulting from participation in a test.
- Working Together for a Better Experience: We genuinely appreciate your understanding and participation in our efforts to enhance Karma. Your feedback and patience during this process allow us to make our platform better for everyone. Together, we can build features and rewards that matter most to you.
ROUND UP
- Round-Up Feature Terms and ACH Authorization
- By enabling the Round-Up feature in the Karma app, you authorize Karma (a product of Karma Card Corporation) and its bank partners to initiate biweekly recurring ACH debits from your linked funding account. These debits represent the total amount of round-ups accumulated from your transactions over the preceding period, calculated as the difference between your transaction amounts and the next whole dollar (e.g., if your transaction is $1.03, we’ll round it up by $0.97; if it’s $4.56, we’ll round it up by $0.44. These small amounts will quietly add up in the background)
- Deposit Schedule: Round-up totals will be debited every other Friday via Same Day ACH. Funds may take up to three (3) business days to settle and appear in your Karma account. You can view your transfer history in the Transactions section of the app settings.
- ACH Debit Authorization (Recurring): By enabling the Round-Up feature and clicking “Authorize,” you confirm and agree to the following:
- You provide Karma with recurring authorization to electronically debit your linked funding account for the variable amount collected through round-ups, as defined in the app.
- You understand that the amount debited will vary based on your transaction activity and the app’s round-up calculations.
- You are an authorized user of the linked account.
- These transactions comply with applicable U.S. laws and Nacha Operating Rules.
- You acknowledge and accept responsibility for ensuring sufficient funds are available in your account at the time of each scheduled debit. Karma is not liable for any fees or penalties charged by your bank due to insufficient funds.
- A copy of this authorization will be available to you within the Karma app settings.
- This authorization is effective as of [Insert Today’s Date] and remains in effect until you revoke it.
- You may revoke this authorization at any time by turning off the Round-Up feature in the app or contacting Karma at help@karmaconnect.com. To prevent a specific upcoming debit, your revocation must be received before the entry is transmitted by Karma. Additionally, you retain your right under Nacha Rules to stop payment of a scheduled recurring debit by notifying your bank at least three (3) banking days before the scheduled debit date.
- Karma may modify or discontinue the Round-Up feature at any time. If changes occur, you will be notified in advance. By using this feature, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Round-Up terms as part of Karma’s overall Terms of Service.
- Use of Collected Funds The round-up amounts collected will be added to your Karma cashback balance and subsequently transferred to the charities supported by Karma. Please note that up to 10% of the total round-up amount may be retained by Karma or its affiliates as an administration and platform fee, with the remaining balance directed to the selected charitable causes. You will be able to track the total amount contributed and view impact reports within the app.
FEES AND REVENUE
- Karma is dedicated to providing Services that empowers users to earn cashback and contribute to meaningful causes. Currently, we do not charge users any fees for earning cashback. However, we do apply a small processing fee on all transactions to cover costs associated with our processing partners.
- It is important to note that users are not directly donating to charities through Karma. Instead, they are contributing to tangible impact outcomes, such as planting trees or supporting other measurable initiatives. For example, if a user contributes $1 as a roundup, this may equate to planting one tree. The actual cost of delivering this impact may vary (e.g., $1.00 or $0.85 per tree) based on our partnerships with various organizations.
- We reserve the right to introduce or modify fee structures in the future as necessary to ensure the sustainability and improvement of our services.
- If fees are applied, they will be communicated clearly and transparently before taking effect, ensuring you have the opportunity to review and agree to any changes.
- To support our operations, Karma earns commissions from participating retailers for purchases made through our Services. These commissions help us continue to provide features and services without directly passing costs to you. However, certain transactions, features, or services may be subject to additional fees in the future.
REFUNDS AND REVERSALS
- At Karma, we strive to ensure fairness and transparency when handling refunds and reversals. While we aim to provide a seamless experience, certain situations may require adjustments to cashback or donations. As a rule, no refunds or reversals are provided unless otherwise specified in advance. Please note that refunds and reversals are subject to the policies of our partner merchants and third-party providers. You are hereby encouraged to review and agree to the required terms and conditions.
- Cashback Refunds
- Cashback credited to your account is generally non-refundable.
- However, if you believe there is a discrepancy in your cashback amount, please contact us immediately. Our team will review the matter, and if an error is verified, we will correct it promptly subject to receipt from relevant partner merchants or third party providers.
- Donation Refunds
- Donations made through Karma are final and cannot be reversed once processed.
- If you notice an error in the allocation of your donation (e.g., sent to the wrong organization), please notify us as soon as possible. We will review the situation on a case-by-case basis and work with you to resolve it where feasible.
- Merchant Reversals
- If a transaction is voided, cancelled, or refunded by the merchant, any associated cashback may also be reversed.
- Such reversals are governed by the terms and policies of the respective partner merchant. You are encouraged to review merchant policies before completing transactions.
- Refunds, reversals, and error corrections may take additional time to process due to third-party reporting schedules or technical requirements. We appreciate your patience during these situations.
- For clarity on a merchant’s policies, we recommend contacting the merchant directly for specific details about their refund and reversal terms.
- If you have questions or concerns regarding refunds or reversals, please reach out to us at help@karmaconnect.com. We are here to assist you and ensure that your experience remains positive and fair.

These payment processors operate independently, and their terms of service govern the processing of all financial transactions on our platform. While we strive to provide a seamless and efficient user experience, Karma does not assume liability for any errors, delays, interruptions, or failures that occur during payment processing. NO GUARANTEE OF PARTNER OR CHARITY ACTIONS
- At Karma, we strive to connect you with trusted merchants and charities to enhance your experience and support your goals. However, it’s important to note that we do not have direct control over their actions, operations, or policies.
- As such, Karma cannot be held responsible for:
- The quality, availability, or fulfillment of products or services offered by partner merchants. Any issues or disputes regarding purchases must be addressed directly with the merchant.
