Job Description

 

TITLE:                                  School Safety Specialist

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.Valid New Jersey Supervisor, School Administrator or Principal certificate.

2.Minimum 5 years teaching experience.

3.Master’s degree

4.Ability to plan, organize and administer a district-level professional development program specific to school security.

5.Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S.citizenship or legal resident alien status.

 

REPORTS TO:              Superintendent/ Assistant Superintendent

 

SUPERVISES:               Assist building administrative team in the supervision of security staff.

 

JOB GOAL:                    Perform administrative tasks in developing, implementing, and managing programs designed to effectively address school security needs. The director shall work in collaboration with the district and school administration to establish appropriate procedures and plans to coordinate secure school facilities.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Collaborate with building and district level administration to develop both long and short term district safety plans.

2.Coordinate communication with security personnel to address individual building concerns.

3.Coordinate the preparation and presentation of an annual budget for safety.

4.Direct the implementation of a safety budget and plan and review specifications for new and replaced safety and security equipment.

5. Prepare and submits periodic reports regarding district safety activities, and prepares appropriate district and state reports as needed.

6. Meet and cooperate with law enforcement officials at the local and county level to coordinate    and review all aspects of district safety.

7. Attend conferences and meetings to keep abreast of current trends in school district safety and    security.

8. Assist the building administrators and security staff with implementation and operational aspects        of existing and to be determined security plans.

9. Evaluate facilities and security equipment to identify security and safety needs.

10.  Assist in developing both the building and district School Emergency

       Operations Plan and assist the building principals with training and

           implementation programs.

11. Work closely with building principals in the coordination of security programs.

12. Collaborates on policy and procedure development for the district.

13. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her

          designee.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year will be determined by the board.

 

 

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel

Raise the average district score achieved on PARCC ELA 10 from the 2018 baseline of 757 to – 760 = 1%, 762 = 2% or 764 = 3%.

Increase the amount of time students use to utilize subject area resource periods.

8441 student contacts during resource period during 2017/18

5% increase – 8863 contacts, increase of 422 = 1%

10% increase – 9285, increase of 844 = 2%

15% increase – 9707, increase of 1266 = 3%

TITLE: Human Resources Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS:

4. Exceptional communications skills to deal effectively with the public and staff.

5. Strong work ethic including qualifications which demonstrate the following characteristics: cooperativeness, flexibility, attention to detail, neatness and accuracy.

6. Knowledge of automated office equipment and excellent computer and secretarial skills.

7. Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment, process sensitive information and to keep strictly confidential matters relative to the operation of the office.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Schools/Coordinator of Human Resources & Payroll

JOB GOAL: To assist the Coordinator of Human Resources & Payroll, with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality, in the efficient operation of the Human Resources Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain all confidential personnel and health files for the district.

2. Review certification and process and submit all the necessary paperwork to the Department of Education on provisional teachers.

3. Maintain and update employee information in CSI database, track attendance in both AESOP and CSI, staff set-up and make changes in position control and maintain monthly updates in NJSMARTS program.

4. Assist the Coordinator of Human Resources & Payroll with the preparation of the monthly and annual Board of Education appointment agendas for all employees.

5. Provide new hires with all employment-related materials and monitor new hire screening process as applicable for an effective, complete and successful hiring experience.

6. Prepare, distribute and monitor all staff employment contracts, co-curricular contracts and athletic contracts.

7. Organize the graduate course review and approval process, process tuition reimbursement requests and reconcile tuition reimbursement account at the end of the school year.

8. Track FMLA/FLA leave eligibility in coordination with Coordinator of Human Resources & Payroll.

9. Process Sick Leave Bank requests and maintains records of leaves taken and remaining days available. Conduct open enrollment as needed.

10. Coordinate and facilitate the state mandated training in areas such as Right to Know(HAZ COM), Harassment & Bullying, Child Abuse & Neglect, School Safety, Gang Awareness, Diabetes, Substance Awareness, Asthma, etc.

11. Coordinate and conduct substitute employee training in state mandated areas as well as classroom management skills.

12. Maintain worker’s compensation claim files. Consult with NJSBIG, in conjunction with Coordinator of Human Resources & Payroll, on worker’s compensation claims.

13. Coordinate the placement of student teachers with the various colleges and universities in appropriate district settings.

14. Prepare, maintain and disseminate job postings and advertisements. Post applicable vacancies in online-tracking system.

15. Perform specialized and confidential assignments as required, including other tasks related to the efficient operation of the human resources office as assigned.
