Seniors, a recent report from NCSEAA, shows that 48 seniors from Dixon High School have completed and submitted their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). On the senior information sheet, 120 seniors indicated they were interested in attending college next year. It's very important that you do the FAFSA if you intend to apply to college. Go get it done!
The CCCC Rep will be here 3/6/18. Any student wishing to meet with her will need to sign up in Ms. Ward's office. Any questions see Ms. Ward.
Seniors: Transcripts to NC colleges must be submitted electronically. If you are applying to NC colleges - 2 or 4 year, you must have a CFNC account and send the transcript electronically through cfnc.org.
The information can be found at CFNC's website or on the DHS Guidance webpage http://dhscounselor.weebly.com/transcripts.html
Please see this info about CFNC accounts and the Residency Determination Service for those applying to NC colleges/universities.
RDS is receiving feedback that there may be confusion around the CFNC and RDS single sign-on functionality. RDS uses a student’s CFNC profile information. Therefore, if a student has an existing CFNC account, the student can use this same username and password to login to RDS.
When a student who does not have a CFNC account (or does not use their existing CFNC account) creates a profile on RDS, then they are creating a CFNC account. If a student is receiving an error when trying to login to RDS it is most likely due to multiple CFNC accounts. The student can call the RDS student line at 844-319-3640 for additional help, or the CFNC Call Center at 866-866-CFNC(2362), and select option 5 for assistance with resetting their CFNC account.
The SECU Scholarship has previously awarded one $10,000 scholarship per school, per year. This year, this changes to one scholarship per school district. Also, the senior and/or their parent/guardian must be a member of the State Employees Credit Union.
DHS will pick 3 or 4 nominees to apply at the district level. Interested students need to complete the application and turn in to Guidance by March 5, 2018. Criteria Application
“The SECU People Helping People Scholarship Program will award at least one scholarship valued at $10,000 (payable at $1,250 per semester) to each of the 115 Local Education Agencies (LEA) in North Carolina to award to a graduating senior attending one of the 16 constituent campuses of the UNC System. Each graduating senior meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered for the scholarship. Beginning in 2018, the SECU People Helping People Scholarship will only be available to graduating public high school seniors who are either members of SECU or eligible for membership through a parent/guardian. All high schools will use the process implemented by their LEA to submit their applicants for the scholarship. The LEA Scholarship Selection Committee will determine final recipients for the scholarship.”
