Upload to our online form your typed proposal including the following information:

Description of the Plan of Study:

Explain how this independent study will meet the standards of an honors-level course. Provide a comprehensive description of the topic or problem to be examined. Include a detailed outline describing work to be completed, such as research, field investigations, written assignments, online journaling, etc. Clearly indicate the topics, lengths, etc. of all assignments.

Evaluation Criteria:

Provide a detailed breakdown of how assignments will be evaluated and what percentage of the final grade each assignment will comprise.

Scheduled Meeting Time(s):

Indicate how often and how much time will be scheduled to meet with the instructor individually (e.g., MWF 11-11:50 a.m.).

NOTE: The proposal should be written by the student (not the instructor) in first-person narrative and uploaded to this proposal form.

Approval Process:

Proposals should be submitted before the beginning of the semester in which the course will be scheduled. For planning purposes, allow two to three weeks for processing. A proposal may be approved, approved with edits, or denied, and students will receive an email notification from the Academic Affairs Coordinator regarding the status. If the proposal requires revisions, the Academic Affairs Coordinator will provide feedback, but final approval must occur before the first day of classes in any given semester.
