Due Dates for Presentations:
20’s, 30’s, _____________
40’s, 50’s ______________
60’s, 70’s ______________
80’s, 90’s: ______________
Overview:
You and your group will be responsible for researching your assigned/chosen decade and identify and report on the events, culture, trends and the impact of that decade on American History. Your project will consist of two components: a Visual Timeline and a Google Slide Show.
The Visual Timeline/Scrapbook is to be completed as a Google Slide Show, divided into ten years, with 3 significant events for each year. Each slide should have pictures and or links to youtube videos.
During the Google Slide Show presentation, each person must participate in the presentation of a certain topic within the decade. Each group will create a slideshow using Google Slides to present all the major events in that era.
Each group of 4 will be required to do a 30 minute presentation for the rest of the class. The presentation should include each of the following topics: Historical Milestones, Music, Media, Fads and Fashions, Technological innovations, and Important personalities. If you have a 5th person in your group, you will need to do an additional topic: Compare and Contrast the life of a teenager of your chosen decade to one of today - “Who has it better and why?”. One person from each group should pick one of the 4 topics, complete the necessry slides and present on that topic)
Extra Credit: You may wish to take on a persona of your topic. (i.e. if you researched music of the 1960s you may want to dress up as John Lennon) The idea is to have fun when you make your presentations. BE CREATIVE!!
Requirements:
SECOND: Create a Google Doc and as a group, write a summary handout of your decade for the class covering all the topics that the individuals in your group have written and researched about. This will be an overview of your decade and will be shared with your classmates as notes.
THIRD: Create a Google Slide Show that accurately depicts all the information required of your group. Make sure you provide enough information to fulfill the time requirement. Make the presentation informative, entertaining, and meaningful. Be sure to provide a movie clip, music sample, clothing etc. anything that represents your decade (must be teacher approved for appropriateness). Make sure you can tie in its connection to your decade.
Rubric:
from all group members
creative, informative, and entertaining. DO NOT READ FROM THE SLIDES!
In fact, less = more when it comes to wording on slides. Use pics and video clips.
Be prepared!
