Robinson ISD will partner with Mentoring Alliance to provide summer camps for our students.
You can send your child to one week at a time or all 9 weeks. We would like to get input from our families to determine the level of interest in this summer camp option being offered in Robinson ISD. Please complete this form to help us plan.

Who: Children who have completed kindergarten through completed 5th grade
Hours: 7:30am-5:30pm
Cost: Sliding Scale based on income -
$159/week
$109/week (also the rate for district employees)
$69/week (also the rate used for teachers who work camp)

What is the location for the summer camp?
Robinson Elementary will be the host campus for summer camp for 2023 for all grades eligible to attend.
What are the hours of camp?
7:30am-5:30pm
What time is drop off?
Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:30am.
Will RISD provide district bus transportation?
Busing is not provided for camp at this time.
What dates is summer camp offered and do we have to attend all weeks?
You may choose the weeks your child can attend during the summer.
Camp is offered the weeks of: May 29-June 2, June 5-9, June 12-16, June 19-23, June 26-30, July 3-7 with no camp on July 4, July 10-14, July 17-21.
When is registration?
Registration launches in March 2023 and runs until spots are filled up (typically, we continue to register campers through the summer as spots open up)
What grades are included and able to attend camp?
Children who have completed kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade may register to attend camp.
Could the age limit be expanded?
At this time, the age limit is listed above in order to make sure that we can adequately staff, divide, and provide the best camp experience possible for students.
How are students divided during the camp? By age, grade, etc?
Students are organized into groups based on age and/or completed grade. They are also divided by gender which we find helps camp operate more smoothly!
How do we know if we qualify for the reduced rate?
If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, you would have a reduced rate.
Does the camp accept CCS?
We do not accept CCS.
Are there any discount rates for siblings?
Not at this time but we can explore that opportunity.
Is there a discount for teachers that work in another district?
Not at this time but we can explore that opportunity.
If we pay and register for all weeks of camp and then need to cancel a week or two, is there a refund?
Registration is paid partially upfront and partially the week prior to the actual week of camp. In the event someone needs to cancel, we refund the portion that has been paid with the exception of the registration fee (which is non-refundable).

Are there field trips during the camps? If so, what field trips are planned?
Mentoring Alliance does not currently host field trips as part of its Summer Camp program. However, there are many great activities held on campus (see activities listed above).
What would a day, or week look like?
What type of education and curriculum will be conducted?
RISD will provide instructional materials for the “Mega Minds” tutoring/enrichment time for students. Curriculum materials that are used during the school year will be planned and provided to students such as StemScopes Math, Leveled Literacy Intervention (Reading), Fundations (phonics), Heggerty (phonemic awareness), iStation, IXL and Reflex math online programs.
Mentoring Alliance also uses curriculum: Life Labs two times per week for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) by the Momentous Institute and has modified it to fit a camp theme with camp oriented games and activities. Bible Study every day (opt in) uses Bright which is an AWANAS program.
Will RISD school employees monitor the camp?
Robinson ISD will contract with Mentoring Alliance for summer camp and Mentoring Alliance will hire and provide most of the people that work the camp. Robinson ISD will have an administrator, nurse or health aide as well as district security available in the event that it is needed. In addition, RISD teachers and instructional support staff will assist with the “Mega Minds” time which is academic instruction/tutoring.
Will someone be able to administer medication?
Yes, RISD health aide, nurse, or someone in the district that has been trained in administering medication will be available during the times medication is needed at camp.
What is the ratio of child to caregiver?
Each group (called a “cabin” at camp) consists of 8-10 campers maximum. Each cabin is led by a Counselor. In addition to Counselors who are responsible for oversight of a specific group, Mentoring Alliance provides on-site leadership including:
What percentage of staff are professionals versus students?
Almost all of Mentoring Alliance’s summer staff are college students or
Will we have any other camp options?
Robinson ISD will continue to offer sports camps through athletic coaches as it has in the past. At this time, there are not any other academic or summer camps planned.
Is there swimming with Mentoring Alliance summer camps?
Mentoring Alliance Summer Camp offers “water days” at camp, where campers have the opportunity to play on specific inflatables that utilize water. We do not take campers swimming at an actual swimming pool.
Is Mentoring Alliance Christian based?
Yes, the organization is faith-based. However, Bible Study and other faith-oriented components are not required. During registration, parents must “opt-in” to participate in Bible Study.
Is lunch provided during camp? Snacks?
Lunch and snacks are provided during camp.
Is there a part time or drop in option available?
Unfortunately, we do not provide this. Registration is based on attending a week at a time. We believe the best experience for campers is to attend at least one full week of camp.
Can older kids volunteer to help?
Yes! We accept volunteers starting at age 14 to work at camp.
